Jacob and his family lived a long time ago in the land of Canaan. Jacob had 12 sons but one of them was his favourite. His name was Joseph. Some time later, Joseph had another dream. He told his father and his brothers, I dreamt that the sun, moon and 11 stars all bowed down to me. His father was cross. Joseph s brothers looked after the family s flocks of sheep and goats. They were often far away from home because they had to move around with the animals to find grass. One day Jacob said to Joseph, Take this food to your brothers and find out if they are all right. So Joseph set off. As the brothers sat down to eat the food Joseph had brought, they saw a camel caravan taking spices to Egypt. One brother, Judah, said, Let s sell Joseph to those traders and not harm him. After all, he is our brother. The others agreed so they pulled Joseph out of the well and sold him to the traders, who took him away to Egypt. How much did the brothers get for Joseph?
