Uniclass L5161+L542:N373 Cl/SfB EPIC E122:Y45 (42)+(45) R (P3) CMS SuperPhon range Sound absorption for walls and ceilings
Sound absorption Reverberation time is a measure of how long it takes noise to die away after the sound source ceases. Achieving the optimum reverberation times for a room is vital in sound sensitive spaces such as schools and call centres, where echoing sound can be particularly disruptive to the occupants. The most commonly used method of controlling reverberation times is acoustic wall coverings or ceiling panels. Comprising attractive wall mounted and ceiling suspended acoustic systems, the CMS SuperPhon range is designed to absorb high levels of reflected noise within a room to improve the listening environment. Flexible by design Accommodating flexibility of use and design, SuperPhon acoustic wall coverings and ceiling systems offer a cost effective solution to reverberation challenges. As a fully bespoke solution, CMS SuperPhon is tailored to exact project requirements including system size, acoustic performance and final finish. Using dedicated in-house resources, from design through to manufacture and delivery, CMS Acoustics ensures an efficient turnaround of all SuperPhon products in line with specific project timescales. With a lightweight structure and aesthetically pleasing finish, the SuperPhon range is ideal for a wide variety of applications including recording studios, offices, schools, cinemas, theatres and leisure centres.
CMS SuperPhon range Offering complete or partial wall coverage, as well as a suspended sound solution, the SuperPhon range provides an effective means of controlling reverberation times and reflected sound in rooms. Selecting a SuperPhon system The most appropriate acoustic system for an area will depend on the sound absorption performance required and environmental constraints. For example, in noise sensitive spaces such as recording studios, CMS SuperPhon Wall Panels offer a complete floor to ceiling solution for superior sound absorption. Where there is a risk of impact, such as in sports halls or spaces with high levels of public traffic, SuperPhon absorbers are ideal, as the ceiling-suspended installation keeps them out of reach, preventing damage to the acoustic treatment. For all applications, CMS SuperPhon systems can be designed to either complement the existing décor or be used as an attractive feature or focal point, which is particularly useful when the treatment is to be applied retrospectively. Complete wall coverage Manufactured from sound absorbing, non-combustible, mineral board, covered with high quality open weave fabric, the SuperPhon Wall System combines excellent acoustic absorption properties with an aesthetically pleasing finish. Available in standard or bespoke sizes and thicknesses, the CMS SuperPhon Wall System is ideal for use in noise sensitive spaces, such as recording studios, audiology rooms and call centres. The wall panels can be positioned to achieve total wall coverage for superior sound absorption. U channels on the top and bottom of the SuperPhon Wall System are used to fix the panels to the wall, with a variety of trims available to cover vertical joints and internal and external corners. In addition, channels and trims can also be cover matched to the liner panel fabric to achieve a seamless finish from floor to ceiling. Partial wall coverage Where reflected sound needs to be absorbed but complete wall coverage is not practical, CMS SuperPhon Panels have been designed to offer partial wall coverage. Whether blending in with the existing environment, enhancing architectural features or creating a new design feature, the panels offer a cost effective solution for rooms requiring a low reduction in reverberation times. As the panels are retrospectively applied, they are suitable for use in both new build projects and remedial works. Acoustic panels can be fixed directly to the wall using a variety of concealed fixing methods including adhesives and wall fixing plates. Where removable pads are required, Velcro pads can be used in conjunction with the base support angle. For increased performance, the panels can be installed on timber battens to create an air void for additional absorptive properties. Suspended absorbers Providing a high performance sound absorption system, CMS SuperPhon Suspended Absorbers are designed for use in areas where total wall coverage is not practical, whether because of impact challenges or access requirements. The composition of a mineral fibre or open-cell melamine absorbing foam core, covered with an open weave fabric provides a lightweight structure. As such, CMS SuperPhon Suspended Absorbers can be applied to ceilings using a range of bespoke suspension methods. The absorbers can be suspended out of sight or manufactured in a fabric to blend in with the existing environment or, for maximum design impact, there is also the option to use the panels as a striking design feature.
Features and Benefits With a wide selection of colour finishes and installation options, the SuperPhon range provides an aesthetically pleasing reverberation solution for a range of applications. Design flexibility The SuperPhon range is available in standard sizes and thicknesses, and bespoke panels and absorbers of a specific size, thickness, shape or fabric facing can be readily manufactured. As well as the broad offering of standard fabric colours, panels can be colour matched to any chosen fabric. Applications With a flexible design and installation process, the CMS SuperPhon range is suitable for a variety of applications where reverberation times and reflected sound needs to be addressed. The wall covering systems and suspended absorbers are ideal for use in schools to achieve BB93 standards for reverberation times. Bespoke installation options CMS SuperPhon systems can be installed using a range of non-visible fixings systems, such as Velcro strips or fabric covered metal strips fixed between top and bottom U channels, allowing panels to be easily removed for access. Alternatively, the panels and absorbers can be installed permanently using wall fixing plates. CMS Acoustics provides comprehensive installation guidelines with each product. Maintenance and care To maintain their appearance, SuperPhon Wall Panels and Suspended Absorbers can be cleaned periodically with a low powered vacuum cleaner. For cleaning guidance on removing stains, please refer to the treatment guide within the technical specification.
