Immaculate Heart of Mary School, junior high (grades 6-8) summer reading list Below is a list of novels for junior high students to use when selecting their summer reading assignments this year. (Note: The first list is alphabetical by book title, and the second list is alphabetical by author) This list has been compiled from other lists of recommended books for middle school and teen-aged students to read. We want the students to use this list as a guide, but they should also keep in mind their own reading level and interests when selecting choices for themselves. Parents, please make sure you also research the novels prior to allowing your child to read them to make sure you are comfortable with the reading level and content for your child. Junior high reading levels vary greatly, and so do the authors' writing styles and topics included in young adult fiction. Summer reading requirements: Each junior high student needs to read at least TWO (2) novels from this list, and take the corresponding Accelerated Reader web site quizzes for each. Each grade level Literature/Reading teacher will take the two HIGHEST scores the student completes during the summer session, and average as their summer reading grade for a first trimester 2015-2016 school year Literature/Reading grade. Students who do not complete summer reading will serve lunch detentions until they are finished with both books and have completed their AR tests. List 1: by Title (alphabetical order) Author 1.
