COACH PITCH RULES (7-8 Year Olds) COACHES SHOULD MEET TO DISCUSS GROUND RULES PRIOR TO EVERY GAME FIELD Base lines shall be 50 feet 6 Pitchers line will be 36 feet from point of plate Cross line at 3 for coach and player Batters Boxes shall be 3 x 4 Half-way marks 25 foot line between 1-2, 2-3 and 3-Home GAMES Home team coaching staff is responsible for field preparations, having new game balls, leftover trash, and any field correction prior to a game. The league will provide the lime, tools and equipment for each field. Please return items to field storage area after use. 7 innings or 2 hour time limit once an inning begins, it must be finished even if the 2 hour time limit has expired 5 runs or 3 outs to complete ½ inning Regulation game in case of weather or darkness is 4 ½ innings if home team is winning 5 innings if away team is winning Forfeit if less than 8 players at game time May not be postponed due to lack of players and must be played according to schedule No limit on bases for hit see DEAD BALL Section for details (1 BASE ON AN OVERTHROW, includes home) Each team must have at least 8 players to begin a game, upon the start of the game, playing with less than 9 players, an out must be taken for the missing player(s) in the batting order where that player batted

Ball must go past the 10 foot arch line an arc drawn 10 feet from rear point of plate that extends from 3 rd base line to 1 st base line. Any ball hit that stops short of line is considered foul and counts as a strike on the batter and is repitched if 3 rd strike or 7 th pitch. SCORE KEEPERS Each team will have to provide a scorekeeper Scorekeeper is viewed as a coach and must maintain a background check if interacting with players, or in the presence of a player (Dug-Out) Scorekeepers are not required to have a background check, and are not allowed to be in dugout, or on player bench area without proper background check documentation NO EXCEPTIONS WEATHER Home team coach is responsible for advising away team as soon as possible on a game cancellation. Please remember, some teams are traveling a distance and use good judgment on times to cancel games. Games are not to be played when lightning is in area NO EXCEPTIONS Games cannot be resumed until 30 minutes after the last lightning strike PLAYER SAFETY is #1 priority as a coach/manager Home team coach is responsible for rescheduling any cancellation with visiting coach. Teams are only allowed to make up games during one of the two teams practice times. Please use good judgment when making up games and be off field in time for next team to begin practice at their scheduled practice times. Make up games do not take priority over another teams practice. The team scheduled on the field has authority over field during their practice time. BATS/GAME BALL No current restrictions on bats. May use wood or metal, must be a baseball bat. Tournament Officials will inspect bats for cracks or any other defect and are permitted to discontinue use of any unsafe bat at any time. Coach Pitch Plays with standard baseball not soft core Tball MANDATORY PLAYING/ELIGIBILITY All players will bat in order (COMPLETE TEAM) NO EXCEPTIONS All players will be in the field equal # of innings NO EXCEPTIONS Coach Pitch is for 7 and 8 year olds. To be eligible, a player must be 7 by June 1, and cannot be 9 prior to July 31. Players who played in the 2012 CCYL season are exempt due to overlapping. PITCHING DEFENSIVE COACHES Coach will do pitching no player is to pitch Underhand or Overhand distance of pitching line is 36 Coach will not interfere with hit balls, only as a safety precaution for a player. In the event of a safety stop of ball, ball will be re-pitched and runners will retreat to previous bases. Only 2 Defensive Coaches are permitted on field during defense, to include Pitching Coach

Pitching coach is part of the field and any ball that hits pitching coach or defensive coach is to be played live. In the event of a ball hitting coach, teams are to use good judgment to re-pitch. In the event of a repitch, runners retreat to previous base NO Defensive Coaches will be permitted on field during All Star Game, and Tournament except Pitching Coach FIELDER MAY NOT Roll ball instead of throwing it for an attempted out at a given base Play more than 6 feet from base line Of 9 players minimum, 3 must play in outfield grass. Coach may play 4 players in outfield if other team can match. If other team cannot match, 9 players only. COACHES ARE ADVISED TO BUILD A STRONG INFIELD, WEAKER PLAYERS SHOULD PLAY IN OUTFIELD. COACHES FIRST RESPONSIBILITY IS SAFEY. PLEASE COMMUNICATE WITH PARENTS ON THIS REGULARLY. BATTER IS OUT Throwing the bat is not allowed. Each team will be given 1 warning per game. The warning will be noted in BOTH score books by scorekeepers. If the team throws the bat again, the player batting will be out. This is a TEAM warning and OUT system, not an individual. Warnings count for entire team Misses 3 rd Strike If a fair or foul ball is caught in the air If he or she hits the ball while out of the batters box. See field dimensions for batters box sizing Bats out of order and is recognized by opposing coach/score keeper/umpire/tournament official If the batter touches the ball If the batter bunts (NO BUNTING) If the 3 rd Strike is or is not caught by the catcher there is NO drop 3 rd strike in Coach Pitch If the batted ball touches the batter before touching an infielder IE: Batter interfering with ball in play to prevent an out There is NO INFIELD FLY rule in Coach Pitch RUNNERS No stealing, or leading off base. (One warning per team) The warning will be noted in BOTH score books by scorekeepers. May not interfere with a fielder fielding the ball interference results in runner being out Must avoid collisions May not be hit by batted ball in fair (runner will be out) Sliding is allowed at 2 nd, 3 rd or home. Coaches are suggested to teach proper sliding techniques. INTERFERENCE from Defense will result in the advancement of 1 base per base runner, including home UNIFORMS/EQUIPMENT Coaches are free to use creativity on uniforms Players must wear baseball pants, shirts, team hats. Tennis shoes are permitted, but molded plastic cleats are suggested. NO METAL cleats or screw in football cleats are permitted Players are not permitted to wear shorts for games

Coaches are required to wear coaches t-shirt or polo and team hat. Coaches not wearing proper team attire are not permitted to coach. Coaches must be easily identified Catchers are REQUIRED to wear proper catching gear/equipment Helmet with mask, Chest protector, and shin guards will be provided by league. Protective Cups are recommended Players may have their last names put on back of their shirts at the discretion of the coach, league provides funds to allow for last names on backs of jerseys through approved providers Batting Helmets are required to have safety masks and chin straps. Any helmet not providing these safety measures will not be permitted for use. Tournament officials will check any and all helmets and are permitted to discontinue use at any time. Coaches are responsible to regularly inspect helmets, masks and chin straps to ensure the safety of players PRACTICE(S) Each Team will have 2 league field practice times weekly (Sunday Saturday)Sign up for practices are first come first serve Coaches are permitted to practice as much as they desire, please use good judgment with players and parents DEAD BALL Ball thrown that leaves field of play or is deemed out of play by official or coaches Coach or spectator picks up ball Player or Coach Injury Pitching Coach Catches ball thrown from player(s) Infielder touches thrown ball from outfielder HALFWAY MARKS Field will be marked with a Half-Way line between 1 st -2 nd, 2 nd -3 rd, and 3 rd -Home. Lines will be marked at 25 form the outside of the previous base in the baseline. Past halfway point in baseline at DEAD BALL (See Dead Ball section) Advance Prior to halfway point in baseline at DEAD BALL Retreat to previous base Any advancing baserunner is live and may be tagged or forced out by defense Any retreating baserunner at dead ball may retreat back to previous base without being tagged out If runner is retreating during live ball, runner is live and may be tagged out by defense Lead Base runner on bases loaded determines Halfway. If bases are not loaded, individual base runners determine halfway Upon a fair play hit ball, there is no limit to the amount of bases allowed (follow halfway rule if necessary) Home Runs are permitted upon flying in fair territory over fence or agreed upon during ground rule discussion with head coaches prior to the game starting UMPIRES Each team is to appoint 1 umpire per game (2 total umpires per game) for all regular season games. CCYL will provide appointed umpires for all tournament games and All Star games. Umpires responsibilities include calling out and safe while helping to maintain order and game flow. Umpires are not to instruct players whatsoever. Umpires may conference with coaches who will then

proceed to instruct players accordingly. Coaches are responsible for knowing the rules and working with other coaching staff to ensure CCYL Baseball is played at the highest level. UNSPORTSMANLIKE CONDUCT Will not be tolerated at any time Any incident must be reported to any league official immediately Players will be benched by coaches Parents and or coaches will be removed from game League officials are permitted to discontinue player, coach, or parent from league with no refund of fees at any time due to conduct NO ONE is permitted to be behind the backstop during active play - NO EXCEPTIONS PLAY APPEAL Procedure 1.) CALL TIME OUT 2.) Appeal to be made between head coaches only and is to be discussed like adults 3.) If agreement cannot be made, play over is called. Runners retreat to previous base NO TOBACCO of any kind is permitted on any and all practice or game fields or while in the vicinity of any and all players, coaches, parents, etc. Any Coach is permitted to remove any person not following said rule. DO NOT HAUL PLAYERS IN THE BACK OF AN OPEN PICK UP TRUCK Players safety is priority #1 No parent/spectator may enter the field of play during warmups or game time unless for injury or emergency. NO EXCEPTIONS Teams will forfeit game, and withdraw bids from tournament and all star game for that season.
