Why could Jesus say He is the only way to the Father? See John 14:6. E. The eternal punishment of all who reject Jesus Christ and His vicarious sacrifice (Matthew 25:41; Revelation 20:15). 1. Is it sin, or refusing the gift that sends men to hell (eternal punishment)? 5. Are there good people going to hell? Are there sinners going to heaven? F. The Holy Spirit as our source of power for service (Zechariah 4:6; Acts 1:8; Philippians 4:13). The conclusion of #5 is that we should be soul winners. Now, let s examine some Scriptures for the source of the power to accomplish this task. 1. Read John 15:5. How much can we accomplish in our own strength? 2. G. Unity in all things essential (Matthew 28:18-20; Ephesians 4:3-7). 1. Can you recite our purpose statement? 2. Notice how Jesus taught priority at the beginning of His ministry. Matthew 6:33. What is the promise for obedience? 3. And at the end of His ministry. Matthew 28:18-20. 4. What is the difference between unity and uniformity? You may look it up in the dictionary. 5. Why does God require unity and not uniformity in His service? And in TFC? Read Psalm 133; John 17:21; Acts 2:42. H. Liberty in all things non-essential (1 Corinthians 6:12; 8:9). 1. Write out your own paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 6:12. 2. Read and compare 1 Corinthians 8 with Romans 14:1 through 15:3. 3. Find the stumbling blocks in both chapters. 4. I. In all things, the spirit of love and kindness (John 13:34, 35; Philippians 2:2-4). Someone has said, We all live in either Philippians 1:21 or 2:21. Think about it. 1. Why does Paul sandwich love between faith and hope in 1 Thessalonians 1:3 and Colossians 1:3-5? 2. Read 1 Corinthians 13 in the NIV. 3. In verses 1-3, how much can I do for God or people without love? 4. In verses 4-8a, put your name in place of love or it. Ask yourself, Do I love others like that? 5. In verse 13, you will notice the meat of the sandwich is no longer between the slices of bread. Why do you suppose God has declared love as the greatest?
