Dear Potential Applicant, Thank you for your interest in Habitat for Humanity s Homeownership program. We are now accepting applications for one home in Belle Glade and one home in Pahokee. Please complete the following steps in order to continue with your application. 1. Review the Qualifications for Homeownership flyer on page 2 of this packet and determine if you meet the qualifications and are interested in applying. 2. Review the For Sale flyers on pages 3 and 4 to determine if you are interested in purchasing the homes shown on the addresses listed. 3. Complete the Lot Selection form on page 5 to indicate which home you are interested in purchasing. 4. Complete all sections of the paper application on pages 6-11. 5. Make copies of all of the documents listed on the Document Checklist form on page 12. 6. Submit the application and documents by May 27 th, 2016. Habitat for Humanity of Palm Beach County partners with families in need to build affordable energy efficient homes. The homes are built together by utilizing volunteer labor, professional contractors, and materials which are donated or purchased locally. Each family is required to invest a minimum of 400 sweat equity hours of their own labor into the construction of homes before being eligible to purchase their home utilizing a 30-year, interest free loan. How to Qualify for Homeownership To apply and qualify to become a Habitat partner family you must meet the 3 main requirements: Seeking to put God s love into action, Habitat for Humanity of Palm Beach County brings people together to build homes, Need for Shelter: Must be a first-time homebuyer (have not owned a home in the past three years) Living in overcrowded, substandard, temporary, or public housing; or are paying an unaffordable price for rent Unable to secure adequate housing through the private market Ability to Pay: Sustain a savings account over a specified period of time.
