What is the Opus 500 Series Multi-Room? The Opus 500 Series Multi-Room is an innovative, yet wonderfully easy-to-use, whole house entertainment system. You can enjoy up to six hi-fi or video sources, independently, or simultaneously, anywhere in your home. In every room where the system is installed, Opus keypads and sleek remote handsets can give total control of your entire CD and DVD collection and access to a choice of radio stations. Opus Technologies is backed by Mordaunt-Short, a British hi-fi company, who for more than 30 years have been award winning industry leaders in loudspeaker technology...
Opus Wall Control Unit The Opus WCU500 wall control units are an object lesson in design, combining functionality with elegant simplicity, resulting in a system interface that provides every zone with full system control. Remote Control Handsets System Remote Control A further refinement of the system is that the Opus 500 Series can also be operated by use of this beautifully styled diecast aluminum remote control. From its slim profile the handset allows you to perform all of the functions of the keypad at a distance. Choosing a source or even setting the system's alarm clock function can all be carried out from the comfort of your couch and the design is so ergonomical and so tough that it can be left in the SRC500 hands of even the youngest user. Learning Remote Control Opus further demonstrates its versatility and superiority by providing as standard an intelligent or learning remote control unit. The LRC500 simply learns the infra-red codes from your TV, video recorder, CD player, DVD player and other sources, to provide full remote access to all your source component functions. LRC500 By connecting the LRC500 to the Master Control Unit's cloning port you can also download your stored code data in a once only operation thereby fully programming your Opus system with all of your source codes in a matter of seconds. Usable with any manufacturer s source equipment the LRC500 even includes local banks for control of a bedroom TV, VCR etc. and a lighting bank for integration with automated lighting systems such as Lutron.
Zone Amplification Modules Opus continues to break new ground with state-of-the-art digital Class T zone amplifiers. Their simple exterior hides a masterpiece of amplifier design. Essentially containing separate pre and power amplifiers, the various functions such as volume, bass, treble, balance etc., are micro-processor controlled while the high efficiency power output stage generates very low levels of heat, making it ideal for locating in confined spaces such as ceiling voids. DZM 20 A 20 watt per channel genuine hi-fi quality amplifier ideally used to power either a pair of our premium in-wall or ceiling mounted speakers. Mounted in a convenient location within the room (typically in a ceiling void) and featuring a local input so that typically a bedroom TV can be played through the multi-room speakers in that room. The DZM20 requires no mains input as it is simply powered by the Opus BTC1 cable from the MCU500 DZM 50 Powered via a local mains input, the DZM50 is capable of producing 50 watts per channel of true hi-fi quality sound. The DZM50 can be variously mounted to suit convenience and the local input facility enables a bedroom hi-fi system or television to be connected to the multi-room speakers in that room. DZM50s can also be chained where multiple pairs of speakers are required. DZM 100 The DZM100 is capable of delivering a mighty 100 watts per channel. As with all Opus amplifiers, the DZM100 can be easily located in a ceiling void or similar location and allows a bedroom television or audio system to be connected and played through the multiroom speakers in that zone. As with DZM50, DZM100s can also be chained where multiple pairs of speakers are required.
Opus Loudspeakers Mordaunt-Short's 30 + years of expertise in the design and manufacture of high quality speaker systems has been brought to bear in the development of the Opus OS165CC and OS165CLP multi-room loudspeaker. Renowned for their exceptional detail, transparency and musicality, Mordaunt-Short has produced a speaker capable of delivering spacious and dynamic reproduction anywhere in the home. While this shares many of the features common to Mordaunt-Short's highly acclaimed hi-fi loudspeakers, the drive unit and crossover has been designed to take account of the angles, frequencies and energy distribution characteristics of in-wall and in-ceiling applications. The discrete visual design of this product ensures that it is the quality of the audio performance rather than their appearance that holds the attention. Where required, grilles may also be painted to co-ordinate with existing décor, rendering them virtually invisible. Side Profile - OS165CLP OS165CC Side Profile - OS165CC
How Does The Opus 500 Series Work? The Opus 500 Series Multi-Room links your home entertainment equipment via a discretely situated Master Control Unit (MCU) to a number of zones around your home (e.g. bedrooms or reception rooms) and sub-zones (e.g. en-suite bathrooms). These are individually accessed and controlled using Wall Control Units and System Remote Controls. To connect these components together a specially developed balanced transmission cable is used, which, unlike most multi-room systems, requires only a single run of cable to carry audio, data and power to and from each zone.
