When performing a cylinder leakage test, air is introduced to the regulator at a constant and pre-set rate. The air loss is then shown on the gauge scale as a percentage of the air that enters the cylinder. It is introduced to each cylinder in turn and the rate of loss of air from each cylinder is registered as a percentage, higher percentages indicating more serious faults.
