PRAYING FOR OTHER PEOPLE

Transcription:

John 4 43 After the two days he left for Galilee. 44 (Now Jesus himself had pointed out that a prophet has no honor in his own country.) 45 When he arrived in Galilee, the Galileans welcomed him. They had seen all that he had done in Jerusalem at the Passover Feast, for they also had been there. 46 Once more he visited Cana in Galilee, where he had turned the water into wine. And there was a certain royal official whose son lay sick at Capernaum. 47 When this man heard that Jesus had arrived in Galilee from Judea, he went to him and begged him to come and heal his son, who was close to death. 48 Unless you people see miraculous signs and wonders, Jesus told him, you will never believe. 49 The royal official said, Sir, come down before my child dies. 50 Jesus replied, You may go. Your son will live. The man took Jesus at his word and departed. 51 While he was still on the way, his servants met him with the news that his boy was living. 52 When he inquired as to the time when his son got better, they said to him, The fever left him yesterday at the seventh hour. 53 Then the father realized that this was the exact time at which Jesus had said to him, Your son will live. So he and all his household believed. 54 This was the second miraculous sign that Jesus performed, having come from Judea to Galilee.

An official asks Jesus to heal his sick son

Craft/Activity: Doctor s Bags Students will make a doctor s bag to remind them that Jesus, the great physician, healed the official s son. 1. White 67 lb. Cardstock 2. Doctor s Bag Pattern 3. Scissors 4. Glue 5. Crayons, Markers, or Colored Pencils 6. Bandages 7. Tongue Depressors 8. Cotton Balls Materials Directions 1. Copy a doctor s bag pattern for each student onto 67 lb. cardstock. 2. Have students color the doctor s bag pattern with crayons, markers, or colored pencils. 3. Instruct students to cut out the suitcase on the black lines, and have them fold on the dotted lines. 4. Students will then put glue on the tabs that say glue and attach them to the corresponding tabs. 5. Cut out the handles and glue them to the suitcase. 6. Fill the doctor s bags with a bandage, tongue depressor, and cotton ball. For Discussion As students are making their doctor s bags, remind them that Jesus healed the official s son without even touching him. This was one of the many miracles Jesus performed. Though Jesus healed people s physical needs, he was more concerned with their spiritual needs. Help students realize that he wants to heal their hearts. Because of sin, our hearts need a doctor. Jesus is the only doctor that can heal our broken hearts. Time Needed to Complete: Approximately 15 minutes Memory Verse Jesus answered them, It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. Luke 5:31

The Bible Times Herald A Special Report on JESUS HEALS THE OFFICIAL S SON Jesus traveled to a place called Galilee. The people had seen all that Jesus had done in Jerusalem during the Passover Feast. They were happy that Jesus had come to visit them again. The last time Jesus was there, he turned water into wine! Jesus was about to perform his second miracle in Galilee. On this visit, Jesus spoke with a royal official who had a son who was very sick and about to die. The royal official went to Jesus and begged him to heal his son. Jesus told the man, Unless you people see miraculous signs and wonders you will never believe. Sir, come down before my child dies, the royal official said. Jesus replied, You may go. Your son will live. The royal official believe what Jesus said and left. On his way home, a servant came to speak with the royal official. The servant told him that his son was living. The servant told the royal official that the son got better at the exact time that Jesus said his son would live. So the royal official and all of his family believed in Jesus.
