Material Safety Data Sheet 1. CHEMICAL PRODUCT & COMPANY IDENTIFICATION Page: 1 24-Hour Emergency Phone Number: 989-636-4400 The Dow Chemical Company, Midland, MI 48674 Customer Information Center: 800-258-2436 2. COMPOSITION/INFORMATION ON INGREDIENTS Polymer of epoxy resin & bisphenol A CAS# 025036-25-3 75-95% Polymer of epichlorohydrin and phenol formaldehyde novolac CAS# 028064-14-4 5-25% 3. HAZARDS IDENTIFICATION EMERGENCY OVERVIEW ************************************************************************ * Yellow flakes. Odorless. No significant immediate hazards for * * emergency response are known. * ************************************************************************ POTENTIAL HEALTH EFFECTS (See Section 11 for toxicological data.) EYE: May cause slight temporary eye irritation. Solid or dust may cause irritation or corneal injury due to mechanical action. SKIN: Essentially non-irritating to the skin. Prolonged skin contact is unlikely to result in absorption of harmful amounts. INGESTION: Low toxicity if swallowed. Small amounts swallowed incidental to normal handling operations are not likely to cause injury; however, swallowing larger amounts may cause injury. INHALATION: At room temperature, exposure to vapor is minimal due to low volatility; vapor from heated material may cause respiratory irritation. (Continued on page 2, over)

M A T E R I A L S A F E T Y D A T A S H E E T PAGE: 2 SYSTEMIC (OTHER TARGET ORGAN) EFFECTS: Based on available data, repeated exposures are not anticipated to cause significant adverse effects. CANCER INFORMATION: Similar epoxy resin did not cause cancer in long-term animal studies. TERATOLOGY (BIRTH DEFECTS): No relevant information found. REPRODUCTIVE EFFECTS: No relevant information found. 4. FIRST AID EYE: Flush eyes thoroughly with water for several minutes. Remove contact lenses after initial 1-2 minutes and continue flushing for several additional minutes. If effects occur, consult a physician, preferably an ophthalmologist. SKIN: Wash skin with plenty of water. INGESTION: If swallowed, seek medical attention. Do not induce vomiting unless directed to do so by medical personnel. INHALATION: Move person to fresh air; if effects occur, consult a physician. NOTE TO PHYSICIAN: No specific antidote. Treatment of exposure should be directed at the control of symptoms and the clinical condition of the patient. 5. FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES FLAMMABLE PROPERTIES FLASH POINT: Decomposes prior to flashing. METHOD USED: Not applicable. AUTOIGNITION TEMPERATURES: Not applicable. FLAMMABLE LIMITS LFL: Not applicable to solids. UFL: Not applicable to solids. HAZARDOUS COMBUSTION PRODUCTS: During a fire, smoke may contain the original material in addition to combustion products of varying composition which may be toxic and/or irritating. Combustion products may include and are not limited to: phenolic compounds, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide. (Continued on page 3)

M A T E R I A L S A F E T Y D A T A S H E E T PAGE: 3 OTHER FLAMMABILITY INFORMATION: Pneumatic conveying and other mechanical handling operations can generate combustible dust. To reduce the potential for dust explosions, do not permit dust to accumulate. Dense smoke is emitted when burned without sufficient oxygen. EXTINGUISHING MEDIA: Water fog or fine spray, dry chemical fire extinguishers, carbon dioxide fire extinguishers and foam. FIRE FIGHTING INSTRUCTIONS: Keep people away. Isolate fire area and deny unnecessary entry. If material is molten, do not apply direct water stream. Use fine water spray or foam. Soak thoroughly with water to cool and prevent re-ignition. Cool surroundings with water to localize fire zone. Hand held carbon dioxide or dry chemical extinguishers may be used for small fires. PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT FOR FIRE FIGHTERS: Wear positive-pressure, self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) and protective fire fighting clothing (includes fire fighting helmet, coat, pants, boots, and gloves). If protective equipment is not available or not used, fight fire from a protected location or safe distance. 6. ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES (See Section 15 for Regulatory Information) PROTECT PEOPLE: Keep unnecessary and unprotected personnel from entering the area. Use appropriate safety equipment. For additional information, refer to Section 8, Exposure Controls/ Personal Protection. PROTECT THE ENVIRONMENT: Prevent from entering into soil, ditches, sewers, waterways and/or groundwater. See Section 12, Ecological Information. CLEANUP: Sweep up. Collect in suitable and properly labeled containers. See Section 13, Disposal Considerations for additional information. 7. HANDLING AND STORAGE HANDLING: Good housekeeping and controlling of dusts are necessary for safe handling of product. (Continued on page 4, over)

M A T E R I A L S A F E T Y D A T A S H E E T PAGE: 4 STORAGE: Store in a dry place. 8. EXPOSURE CONTROLS/PERSONAL PROTECTION ENGINEERING CONTROLS: Good general ventilation should be sufficient for most conditions. Local exhaust ventilation may be necessary for some operations. PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT EYE/FACE PROTECTION: Use safety glasses. If there is a potential for exposure to particles which could cause eye discomfort, wear chemical goggles. SKIN PROTECTION: No precautions other than clean body-covering clothing should be needed. RESPIRATORY PROTECTION: For most conditions, no respiratory protection should be needed; however, if handling at elevated temperatures without sufficient ventilation, use an approved air-purifying respirator. EXPOSURE GUIDELINE(S): None established. 9. PHYSICAL AND CHEMICAL PROPERTIES APPEARANCE: Yellow flakes ODOR: Odorless VAPOR PRESSURE: Not applicable VAPOR DENSITY: Not applicable BOILING POINT: Not applicable SOLUBILITY IN WATER: None SPECIFIC GRAVITY: 1.18 10. STABILITY AND REACTIVITY CHEMICAL STABILITY: Stable at ambient temperature. CONDITIONS TO AVOID: Exposure to elevated temperatures can cause product to decompose. INCOMPATIBILITY WITH OTHER MATERIALS: Avoid unintended contact with amines. Avoid contact with oxidizing materials. Avoid contact with acids, bases. HAZARDOUS DECOMPOSITION PRODUCTS: Decomposition products depend (Continued on page 5)

M A T E R I A L S A F E T Y D A T A S H E E T PAGE: 5 upon temperature, air supply and the presence of other materials. Gases are released during decomposition. Uncontrolled exothermic reaction of epoxy resins release phenolics, carbon monoxide and water. HAZARDOUS POLYMERIZATION: Will not occur by itself. Masses of more than 1 pound (0.5 kg) of product plus an aliphatic amine will cause irreversible polymerization with considerable heat buildup. 11. TOXICOLOGICAL INFORMATION (See Section 3 for Potential Health Effects. For detailed toxicological data, write or call the address or non-emergency number shown in Section 1) SKIN: The dermal LD50 has not been determined. INGESTION: The oral LD50 for rats is expected to be >2000 mg/kg. MUTAGENICITY: Some similar resins have shown mutagenic activity in in vitro tests, while others have not. 12.
