Sanders, President/CEO All of us who are employed at the credit union are especially proud to work in a service environment that allows us to help others achieve their financial goals. And although we are a financial institution and are required to track and report a lot of financial data and details, the real business of the credit union is not just about money; it s about people; it s about you, our members. Of course, keeping our members money safe and secure is a critical part of what we do and we certainly need to focus on that daily. However, helping our members achieve their financial goals is the truly rewarding part of our job. It is very satisfying to know that each day we help our members in many ways: to deliver a dream they may have to send their children to college, to buy that shiny new vehicle to drive to work, to buy the home that they have dreamed about for so long, or perhaps, just to help a member refinance their debts to help them save money and be in a stronger financial position. Whatever our members need, we help them daily and are thankful when we arrive each day at our workplace that we have the opportunity and honor to help others. The credit union motto, People Helping People, which was developed over a hundred years ago when credit unions were established, is still alive and well at GNO. And I am proud to say that those of us who work in the credit union industry honor that motto every day. In the last few years, the credit union has completed many major projects and I want to thank my staff for their unyielding focus and determination in accomplishing those projects. Some of the projects completed in 2012 included the successful conversion of our credit card portfolio, which eliminated our outside vendor and brought the credit cards in-house for improved convenience and functionality for members. We also converted our Home Banking platform and redesigned our web site to offer better access, as well as the ability to provide mobile banking for both Androids and iphones. The Home Banking platform also includes a new tool, called Personal Financial Management or PFM. PFM allows members to aggregate all of their financial accounts at other financial institutions into one platform to perform budgeting and analysis. It includes graphics and various metrics that all depict the details of a member s own personal financial situation. And to add a little fun to the process, our creative marketing department developed a cute mascot for the PFM product by combining the words GNO and ME, which spelled out is GNOME. This new mascot will be rolled out with the Personal Financial Management program in April when it goes live for member use. The old adage, Nothing worth having comes easy reflects the kind of financial environment that we are operating in today. Times are difficult for many of our members and it s just not the easy, lucrative days of yore for the credit union. Fortunately your credit union has a strong management team and dedicated employees who continue to make significant improvements in the credit union s operational infrastructure, all while finding ways to reduce expenses, yet improve products and services. We work tirelessly to bring you a better credit union by striving to implement improvements year after year. Today s financial environment is certainly a challenge, however that challenge is what keeps us striving for better and more creative ways to offer our products and services to our members. Despite the many challenges faced by both our members and the credit union, GNO remains strong and stable, and we will continue to work diligently on your behalf all through the year.
