1. Hardware Setup Getting to know your EOC slave The Wi-Fi EOC slave provides you with an easy and secure way to set up a wireless home network with fast access to the Internet over a coaxial cable network. The EOC slave has a built-in EOC salve to work with the EOC master of the Internet service providers. With your EOC slave, you can block unsafe Internet content and applications, and protects the devices (computers, gaming consoles, and so on) that you connect to your home network. This chapter explains how to set up your hardware. If you have already set up your EOC salve, you can skip this chapter. Chapter 2 explains how to set up. This chapter contains the following sections: Unpack Your EOC salve Hardware Features Position Your EOC salve Cable Your EOC salve 1.1 Unpack Your EOC salve Open the box and remove the EOC slave, cables, Power adapter and installation guide. EOC Slave RouterEthernet cable cablepower adapter If any parts are incorrect, missing, or damaged, contact your On Networks dealer. Keep the carton and original packing materials in case you need to return the product for repair. 1.2 Hardware Features Before you cable your EOC slave, take a moment to become familiar with the front, side, and back panels and the label. Pay particular attention to the LEDs on the front panel. Back Panel

The back panel has the connections and button shown in the following figure. Interface Qty. If the loop happened the LOOP led will on Solid green. The CABLE port has detected a link with the EOC Master by coaxial cable network. Blinking green. Data is being transmitted or received. Off. The unit is off or there is no link established. Solid green. The LAN port has detected an Ethernet link with a device such as a computer. Blinking green. Data is being transmitted or received. Off. No link is detected on this port. Solid green. The STB port has detected an Ethernet link with a device such as a computer. Blinking green. Data is being transmitted or received.

WIFI Off. No link is detected on this port. Blinking green. Data is being transmitted or received over the wireless link. OFF. No wireless PC connected. 1.3 Position Your EOC Slave The slave lets you access your network from virtually anywhere within the operating range of your wireless network. However, the operating distance or range of your wireless connection can vary significantly depending on the physical placement of your slave. For example, the thickness and number of walls the wireless signal passes through can limit the range. For best results, place your router: Near the center of the area where your computers and other devices operate, and preferably within line of sight to your wireless devices. So it is accessible to an AC power outlet and near Ethernet cables for wired computers. In an elevated location such as a high shelf, keeping the number of walls and ceilings between the router and your other devices to a minimum. Away from electrical devices that are potential sources of interference. Equipment that might cause interference includes ceiling fans, home security systems, microwaves, computers, the base of a cordless phone, or a 2.4 GHz cordless phone. Away from any large metal surfaces, such as a solid metal door or aluminum studs. Large expanses of other materials such as glass, insulated walls, fish tanks, mirrors, brick, and concrete can also affect your wireless signal. 1.4 Cable Your EOC Slave The installation guide that came in the box has a cabling diagram. This section walks you through how to cable your EOC slave with detailed illustrations. To cable your EOC slave: 1. Please connect the LAN port of the slave to the network adapter of your computer with one cable. 2. Please connect your coaxial line provided by your ISP to the Cable port of your slave. 3. Please use the delivery-attached power adapter to the slave, and plug the power adapter into an outlet. Wait for the Power LED on the front panel to light. If no LEDs are lit, press the Power On/Off button on the rear panel of the slave.

2. Getting Started Accessing your EOC Slave This chapter explains how to access and set up your EOC slave after you complete cabling as described in the installation guide and in the previous chapter. This chapter contains the following sections: Setup Preparation Types of Logins and Access Log In to the slave Upgrade the Firmware Home Screen 2.1 Setup Preparation Before you start the setup process, get your ISP information and make sure the computers and devices in the network have the settings described here. Use Standard TCP/IP Properties for DHCP If you set up your computer to use a static IP address, change the settings so that it uses Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP). Gather ISP Information If you have broadband service, you might need the following information to set up your EOC slave and to check that your Internet configuration is correct. Your Internet service provider (ISP) should have provided you with all of the information to connect to the Internet. If you cannot locate this information, ask your ISP to provide it. Make sure that you have the following information: The ISP configuration information for your EOC ISP login name and password Fixed or static IP address settings (special deployment by ISP [rare])

Wireless Devices and Security Settings Make sure that the wireless device or computer that you are using supports WPA or WPA2 wireless security, which is the wireless security that the EOC slave supports. 2.2 Types of Logins and Access Separate types of logins have different purposes. It is important that you understand the difference so that you know which login to use when. EOC Slave login logs you in to the router interface from EOC slave. For details about this login, see next section. ISP login logs you in to your Internet service. Your service provider has provided you with this login information in a letter or some other way. If you cannot find this login information, contact your service provider. Wireless network key or password. Your router is preset with a unique wireless network name (SSID) and password for wireless access. This information is on the label on the bottom of your EOC slave. 2.3 Log In to the EOC Slave The first time that you connect to the EOC salve, the installation screen displays. After initial setup, you can log in to the salve to view or change its settings. To log in: 1.With an Internet browser, browse to http://192.168.1.1 2. Enter guest for the user name and admin for the password, both in lowercase letters. Note:As explained in the previous section, the EOC slave user name and password are different from the user name and password for logging in to your Internet connection.

Unsuccessful Login Do the following if you do not see the login prompt: 1.Check the LEDs on the front of the slave to make sure that the slave is plugged in, its power is on, and the Ethernet cable between your computer and the EOC slave is connected to a LAN port. 2.If you connected the Ethernet cable and quickly launched your browser and typed in the EOC slave URL, your computer might need a minute or two to recognize the LAN connection. Relaunch your browser and try again. 3.If you are having trouble accessing the slave wirelessly, we recommends that during setup you use an Ethernet cable to connect your computer so that you can log in to the slav. 4.If you cannot connect to the EOC slave, check the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) properties in the Network Connections section of your Windows computer Control Panel. They should be set to obtain both IP and DNS server addresses automatically. See your computer documentation. 2.4 Home Screen The router would verify your user name and password. When they are right, you would see the screen as the figure. The interface lets you view or change the EOC slave settings. The left column has menus. The main screen is the currently selected menu option. 3. EOC Slave Setup This chapter contains the following sections: Wi-Fi running Wi-Fi Network Wi-Fi Wireless Wi-Fi Security Wi-Fi System

Wi-Fi Management TR069 Management 3.1 Wi-Fi Network (WAN Settings) In order to access the Internet, you should select your connection type to your ISP (Internet Services Provider). If the connection type is PPPoE, please input the User Name and Password provided by your ISP. If the connection provided by your ISP is DHCP of Obtain an IP address automatically, please click Next.

If the connection is Ethernet Broadband, fixed IP address provided by ISP (Static IP), please input the IP Address, Sub-net Mask, Gateway and DNS server address provided by your ISP.

3.2 Wi-Fi Network (LAN Settings) The configuration parameters of the LAN port of the router is displayed here. IP Address: To display the IP address of the router in the LAN, the factory default value is 192.168.1.1, you can change it according to your requirements. For example, you can change the IP address of the router as 192.168.8.1 as the figure. Note: If you change this IP address into a new IP address, then next time when you log in the router, you must use this new IP address to access the management interface of the router. And all the default gateway of the computer in the LAN should be set as the value of this new IP address. Net mask: The default Sub-net Mask of this router in the LAN is 255.255.255.0 DHCP Server setting Tips: DHCP is the abbreviation of Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol which can assign IP address, Subnet Mask, Default Gateway of LAN Client on TCP/IP automatically.

1. DHCP Server: The DHCP function will go into effect if you select Enable as the figure beside. 2. IP Pool Starting Address: The starting IP address which DHCP Server automatically starts. 3. IP Pool Ending Address: The ending IP address which DHCP Server automatically ends. The IP address that DHCP Server assigns to the requested client should be within the IP Pool. e.g., when you configure IP address pool from10 to 30, the IP Address which can be obtained by the clients would be between 10 and 30 4. Lease Time: You can set the time period during which the DHCP allows the assigned IP addresses to be used by the clients. By setting a suitable lease time, you would enable the DHCP to take better advantage of the IP addresses which are not used again. For example, you can set the lease time as one hour, and then the DHCP server would take back the IP addresses per an hour. 3.3 Wi-Fi Wireless The Wireless Settings screen lets you view or change the wireless network settings. To view or change wireless settings: 1. Select Bask Setting to display the following screen

2.Make any changes that are needed, and click Submit when done to save your settings. Note:The screen sections, settings, and procedures are explained in the following sections. 3.Set up and test your computers for wireless connectivity: a.use your wireless computer or device to join your network. When prompted, enter the network password. b. From the wirelessly connected computer, make sure that you can access the Internet. Wireless Settings Screen Fields Label Description You can enable WiFi or not.once the wireless feature is enable, the wirless device can transmit or receiver from slave, once the Enable WiFi feature is disabled, no wireless device can transmit to or receive from your router. The SSID is also known as the wireless network name. Enter a 32-character (maximum) name in this field. This field is case-sensitive. The default SSID is randomly generated, and there is typically no need to change it. You are able to change the Name (SSID). SSID here. If you use a wireless computer to change the wireless network name (SSID) or security options, you are disconnected when you click Apply. To avoid this problem, use a computer with a wired connection to access the EOC slave. The wireless channel used by the gateway: 1 through 13. Do not change the channel unless you experience interference (shown Channel by lost connections or slow data transfers). If this happens, experiment with different channels to see which is the best. Up to 150 Mbps is the default and allows 802.11n and 802.11g Mode wireless devices to join the network. Transmitting power Transmitting power set, can support 5 levels of transmitted power

This setting allows the EOC slave to not broadcast its SSID so that a wireless station can not display this wireless name (SSID) in its scanned network list. This check box is not selected by default. To turn off the SSID broadcast, clear the check box and click Apply. A security option is the type of security protocol applied to your wireless network. The security protocol in force encrypts data transmissions and ensures that only trusted devices receive authorization to connect to your network. Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA) has several options including pre-shared key (PSK) encryption. In the section, you can select the WPA option that you want. 3.4 System Information The SYSTEM Information menu provide the entry of device information, WAN state, LAN state and Statistic. Click Device Information on the main menu. Result: The system information is displayed. The system information allows you to view system information, including product model, product function, hardware version, software Version and compile time. The WAN State screen allows you to view WAN status information, including connect type, IP address, Mask, DNS, gateway, MAC and so on.

The LAN State screen allows you to view the link status of the connected clients in the DHCP Client list, including IP address, correspond- ing MAC address, Lease time and hostname etc. The Statistic screen allows you to view status information of LAN, WAN and WLAN, including received data and transmitted data in Bytes, received frames and transmitted frames, Error frames, dropped frames, and so on.

3.5 Wi-Fi Management Click User management to display Modify Account screen: You can add a new user in next screen.
