FAQ How to access to edesigner? 1.visit huawei official website select enterprise -> Partners-> order -> Pre-sales Information-> Solution Design Expert 2.vist edesigner link: http://app.huawei.com/unistar/edesigner 3.Google huawei edesigner 32
FAQ What s the cache hit ratio s functionality in assessment? The cache hit ratio greatly impact the supported IOPS Generally, cache hit ratio should includes the following factors: 1.read cache hit ratio (ratio of cache hit from pre-fetched sequencing data& ratio of cache hit from in-memory hot data) 2. write cache hit ratio ( the ratio of the dirty data updated before flush to disk) 3. write aggregating ratio (the ratio of aggregated write IO into one IO) In the edesigner s assessment, the cache hit ratio refer to the percentage of the host IO returned without access the disks including all the above factors 33
FAQ What s the Disk Utilization? The disk utilization is available capacity of customers and a nominal capacity of the hard disk ( raw capacity) ratio after considering several factors : (1) RAID group capacity loss: Due to different RAID algorithms, different RAID levels its hard disk capacity utilization is also different, such as RAID10 capacity utilization is 50%, the capacity utilization rate of RAID5 is (n-1)/n. (2) Operating system available capacity loss and nominal capacity of the disk loss: hard drive manufacturers generally in accordance with 1000 as the unit of progress (1KB = 1000byte, 1MB = 1000KB, 1GB = 1000MB), while the operating system is in accordance with the 1024 as a unit of progress (1KB = 1024byte, 1MB = 1024KB, 1GB = 1024MB), and therefore the nominal capacity of the hard drive manufacturers converted to the operating system becomes smaller, the greater the difference in hard drive capacity and greater; operating systems available capacity is probably standard 93.1% said that nominal capacity. (3) Integration Capacity: format the hard disk, can be formatted as a sector size 520Byte or 512Byte, which is usually called the 520 disk and 512 disk. The same nominal size of the disk, formatting and spatially by 520Byte and 512Byte after formatting is not the same, the former space after formatting approximately 98.4% of the latter. 34
FAQ How to evaluate OceanStor v1 s capability? The only different factor should concern is v1 don t have tiered storage feature. We can evaluate OceanStor v1 using the same method in evaluating single tier storage for V3 Do the disks with hot spare capacity contribute to performance? Because of RAID 2.0 architecture, hot spare capacity is provided by storage pool, the more hot spare capacity set, the higher performance get in OceanStore V3 product. 35
