Fund Flash June 2012 Newly listed in Germany ACTIVELY MANAGED JULIUS BAER SMART EQUITY ETFs The JB Smart Equity ETFs from Swiss & Global Asset Management open up access to a whole new product class. They are among the first active equity ETFs listed on the Xetra in Germany since 29 June 2012. These actively managed ETFs from Swiss & Global give investors the opportunity to implement their investment strategy using innovative funds, while at the same time benefiting from greater transparency and liquidity. Our ETFs active, not passive When ETFs (exchange-traded funds) are mentioned in the financial sector, many market participants immediately think of passively managed funds, i.e. those that replicate indices. The range of ETFs on offer to date has led to the term being automatically associated with passive management. This assumption no longer holds true, as shown by the new actively managed ETFs from Swiss & Global Asset Management. The market for active ETFs is enjoying increasing demand in the US, but it still in its infancy in Europe. The range of such ETFs on offer is restricted just a few providers, and the products are therefore virtually unknown. The JB Smart Equity ETFs from Swiss & Global are among the first actively managed ETFs in the equity segment that are listed on the Xetra in Frankfurt and can thus be traded on this exchange. These active ETFs offer striking advantages for investors. The JB Smart Equity ETFs at a glance Two active portfolios in one ETF Trend portfolio Uses trend indicators to identify share price anomalies that result from typical behavioural patterns of investors Focus on investor behaviour Value portfolio Exploits mid and long - term valuation and price momentum anomalies Focus on company valuation Allocation key Depends on the ex -post information ratio of the trend and the value portfolio. The higher the information ratio, the higher the weight. Active, systematic, backed by empirical evidence, attractive pricing Source: Swiss & Global Asset Management Your benefits The active approach gives the portfolio managers freedom in selecting stocks. Unlike with passive ETFs, the portfolio managers actively influence the composition of their respective funds in line with current trends, valuations and developments. Illiquid segments are excluded, thus ensuring a costefficient structure. The exclusive manager of Julius Baer Funds. A member of the GAM group.

The assets of the JB Smart Equity ETFs are exclusively invested directly in equities. Investments in derivative products are not permitted, and neither is securities lending and borrowing. Investors therefore do not run the risk of losing part or all of their investment in the event of an unknown third party going bankrupt. This third-party risk can thus be completely ruled out in the case of the JB Smart Equity ETFs. The JB Smart Equity ETFs are funds and cover the following investment regions: JB Smart Equity ETF World: The fund invests in selected stocks represented in the MSCI AC (All Country) index. The active investment approach adopted by these products makes it possible to exploit price trends and valuation anomalies. Combining state-of-the-art systems with many years experience and expertise, our portfolio managers can identify market opportunities and harness them profitably. The underlying index is not merely replicated as is the case with passive products. The clear objective is instead to outperform the benchmark in question. This active approach does not mean losing out on the advantages offered by ETFs in general. On the contrary, daily intraday on-exchange trading makes these ETFs a very transparent and liquid investment product. The JB Smart Equity ETFs The four JB Smart Equity ETFs from Swiss & Global Asset Management were launched on 30 March 2012 and cover the best-known investment regions. Their aim is to achieve longterm capital growth. JB Smart Equity ETF Europe: JB Smart Equity ETF Asia: JB Smart Equity ETF Emerging Markets: The fund invests in selected stocks represented in the MSCI Europe index. The fund invests in stocks represented in the MSCI Asia Pacific ex Japan index. Japanese equities are therefore not taken into account. The fund invests in selected stocks represented in the MSCI Emerging Markets index. The funds reference currency is the USD, or EUR in the case of JB Smart Equity ETF Europe. The USD-denominated funds are also available in a EUR currency class. The funds are suitable for investors with a long-term horizon who wish to invest in the corresponding investment region and who have a high risk tolerance. Source: Swiss & Global Asset Management

Our investment approach Each of the four funds invests in the 200 most promising stocks in their investment universe. Using a combination of two different investment approaches trend and value the managers determine which stocks are to be included in the funds portfolios. The trend strategy The systematic trend strategy uses technical indicators to identify trends and trend reversals, with the aim of exploiting short and medium-term price anomalies. It focuses on investment opportunities that arise from typical investor behaviour patterns. For example, on average investors tend to sell equities on weak corporate news or take profits too soon. They also frequently buy stocks that are generally popular. These behaviour patterns cause price anomalies, which can last from a few weeks up to several months. All of the equities selected on this basis are equally weighted. - Julius Baer Smart Equity ETF Asia Fund data, S shares, EUR - Julius Baer Smart Equity ETF Emerging Markets - Fund data, S shares, EUR LU0747924560 LU0747924131 MSCI AC Asia Pacific ex Japan ND MSCI Emerging Markets ND USD USD USD; EUR USD; EUR under law / under law /

Spain Branch, Madrid, T +34 91 140 07 14 www.jbfundnet.com, funds@swissglobal-am.com www.swissglobal-am.com The value strategy The systematic value strategy centres on equity valuations. Every six months, the funds invest in companies that offer attractive valuations. A wide range of key figures are used to determine this, such as the P/E ratio and the dividend yield. These data provide buy and sell signals. In the value portfolio component, the equities are weighted in accordance with their market capitalisation. Qualitative health check Companies that appear attractive based on the trend or value strategy are subjected to a qualitative health check by the experienced portfolio managers at Swiss & Global. This check-up serves to identify at an early stage possible company risks that could lead to a bankruptcy, for example. The higher the risk-adjusted return (measured by the ex-post information ratio), the higher the weighting of the respective strategy in the overall portfolio. However, neither of the two strategies may fall below the minimum threshold of 20%. - Julius Baer Smart Equity ETF Europe Fund data, S shares, EUR - Julius Baer Smart Equity ETF World Fund data, S shares, EUR LU0747923752 LU0747923240 MSCI Daily Net TR Europe Euro MSCI AC World ND EUR USD EUR USD; EUR under law / under law /

Opportunities The funds invest in a broadly diversified equity universe and seek opportunities for returns wherever they exist. The JB Smart Equity ETF Emerging Markets, the JB Smart Equity ETF World and the JB Smart Equity ETF Asia give investors easy access to the emerging markets. Many of these countries may offer attractive potential returns in various asset classes. A highly qualified and experienced management actively manages the fund on the basis of a fundamental valuation approach. The objective is to identify the potential investments that, in the s opinion, are most attractive and to generate interesting and profitable opportunities for investors. Risks The funds invest in equities which may be subject to significant fluctuations in value. The JB Smart Equity ETF Emerging Market and the JB Smart Equity ETF Asia invest in securities from emerging markets where prices can fluctuate significantly and where, in addition to social, political and economic uncertainties, operating and supervision conditions may deviate from the standards prevailing in developed markets. The JB Smart Equity ETF World may invest in securities from emerging markets where prices can fluctuate significantly and where, in addition to social, political and economic uncertainties, operating and supervision conditions may deviate from the standards prevailing in developed markets. The funds may invest in assets denominated in various currencies, giving rise to exchange rate risks which may be hedged. If the currency in which the past performance is displayed differs from the currency of the country in which an investor resides, due to exchange rate fluctuations, the performance shown may increase or decrease if converted into the investor s local currency.
