A: No. The application must be complete and you must be in Provisional Status. Q: What is Provisional Status? A: Provisional Status is the status you are in once your application has been initially approved. This is the point that your Provisional Registration (temporary permit) has been issued. They are not eligible prior to receiving their Provisional Registration. Q: I am just renewing my work card, previously issued by the Sheriff s office; do I have to submit a new application? Q: Do I need to fill out the application at your office in Carson City or Las Vegas? A: No. The application is available online. You can also print the paper version off of the website and mail it to either office. The fastest method to submit an application is to submit everything online. This will cut down on the amount of time it takes to process, because staff will not have to manually enter in your application and required documents. Q: Once I am registered, will you assist me in finding employment with one of your licensees? A: No, we do not provide employment services. You will need to contact licensed individuals/companies to apply for a job. Q: If I start the application process and then change my mind after submitting fingerprints and fees, will I receive a refund? A: No. You will not receive a refund for application services that have been completed by this office. Q: How long is my application valid? A: An application is only valid for 30 days after submission. If you take longer than 30 days to submit any portion of your application, you will be assessed a $10.00 reprocessing fee (money order or cashier s check only). There will only be a 30 day grace period to submit the reprocessing fee. After the grace period you will be required to submit a new application package including new registration fee. Q: Can my statewide Registration Work Card be revoked? A: Yes for the same reasons that the current work cards are denied (felony, crime of moral turpitude, illegal use or possession of a dangerous weapon, falsification/non-disclosure of arrest history on your application). (money order and cashier s check only) Q: I filled out the application online, but cannot scan and upload my documents what should I do? A: You can complete the application by submitting your payment online with a credit card and then mail your remaining required documents to either of our offices. pilbinfo@ag.nv.gov. Q: How long will it take to get my Provisional Registration and/or permanent Registration Work Card and how do I obtain them? A: It takes approximately 2-3 weeks for our office to process a COMPLETE application. If you reach Provisional Status, you will be sent an email containing your Provisional Registration, please print this out and carry it with you at all times while on duty. If you did not provide an email address you can print your Provisional Registration from our website, by going to the Consumer Resources page, clicking on Registered Employee Verification, searching your first and last name, clicking detail and then printing the page. Or if you do not have access to a computer you can pick up a copy of your Provisional Registration at either of our offices; there is a $2.00 fee for this (money order/cashier s check only). It will take approximately 3 months to receive your permanent Registration Work Card and it will be sent to the mailing address provided on your application. Q: I want to work Armed, how do I do that? A: You cannot become armed until you have an employer, which requires you to be in at least Provisional Status. Your employer will need to send you to the armed course. Once you have qualified and received your Certification of Completion (white card) you will need to provide a copy of the white card and Verification of Employment Form to either of our offices. If you have been issued an Unarmed Registration Work Card from the PILB, you will also need to submit a money order or cashier s check for $20.00 to have the card reprinted. If the card was issued by METRO, you will need to return to METRO to have the card reissued (please see the FAQ s above for information on how to do this). Revision Date: 10/4/2011 6
