The purpose of this policy This policy applies to all individuals that provide Leading Age Services Australia Victoria (LASA Victoria) with their personal information. The personal information that LASA Victoria collects from you might include (but is not limited to): Your name Contact details Age Gender Financial information Photographic images How do we collect personal information? General Where possible LASA Victoria will collect personal information directly from you. We will use this information to provide membership, products and services and may also use it for product development and marketing purposes. When an individual purchases a LASA Victoria product or service (including membership, training or events) we will collect, at a minimum, the following: Name of the contact person or people from the organisation Contact details Payment details by Credit Card, invoice, cheque or direct debit Sensitive information We do not collect sensitive information about you unless: It is necessary and we have your consent It is required by law Information from a Third party Occasionally LASA Victoria will obtain personal information from a third party. This can include: Information provided during the annual member-information audit process in which a representative from LASA Victoria member organisations will provide the name and contact details of relevant staff Events and training participants adding colleagues to LASA Victoria contact lists If you provide personal information to LASA Victoria in regard to someone else, you must ensure that you have that person s consent to provide such information for the purpose specified. Online LASA Victoria uses Google Analytics to collect data about traffic on our website. This data includes: The IP address and a component of the domain name used The type of browser and operating system you used The date and time you visited our website The web pages or services you accessed at our website The time spent on individual pages and our website overall How do we use the information you provide? We will use your personal information for the primary purpose for which it is collected. What happens if you choose not to provide your personal information? You are not obliged to give us your personal information. If you would like to access any of our services on an anonymous basis we will take all reasonable steps to comply with your request, but the services available to you may be limited. Updating data LASA Victoria will take reasonable steps to ensure that the personal information that we hold is accurate and up-to-date. Read PayPal s privacy policy here (https://www.paypal.com/webapps/mpp/ua/privacyfull?country.x=au&locale.x=en_au) In situations where LASA Victoria discloses your personal information to Overseas Recipients: LASA Victoria is not accountable for an Overseas Recipient s acts if you have consented to the disclosure of your personal information If the Overseas Recipient breaches the APPs you will not be able to seek redress under the Privacy Act 1988 If the Overseas Recipient breaches the APPs you will not be able to seek redress under the jurisdiction in which the Overseas Recipient operates The Overseas Recipient might not be subject to the same privacy obligations as Australian Recipients The Overseas Recipient might be compelled to disclose personal information to a third party by an overseas authority
Opting Out You will have the option to opt out from receiving communications from LASA Victoria. You may opt out by: Clicking a link on the email communications sent to you Contacting LASA Victoria communications@lasavictoria.asn.au Note: LASA Victoria will not disclose your personal information to any Domestic or Overseas Recipients if you opt out of receiving marketing and communications services Access and Corrections to your Personal information You have a right to access your personal information, subject to certain exceptions provided for in the Act. You are required to put your request in writing and provide proof of identity. You may, upon inspection of the Personal Information we hold about you, write to us to correct any errors in the Personal Information. Security and Protection of Your Personal Information General LASA Victoria will take reasonable steps to ensure that personal information is held and stored securely and protected from misuse, loss, unauthorised access or use, and modification or disclosure. Your personal information may be stored in either digital or hardcopy form and is secured using, at a minimum, the following systems and processes: Firewalls Anti-virus software Onsite and offsite back ups Disaster recovery mechanisms LASA Victoria will take reasonable steps to destroy or permanently de-identify personal information as per the LASA Victoria information protection process if the information is no longer needed for any purpose for which the information was originally obtained except it will be retained and stored as required by any act and/or regulation for the period specified by law. LASA Victoria will take reasonable steps to destroy or permanently de-identify unsolicited personal information as per the LASA Victoria information protection process.
