Key points of our critical illness cover ren s critical illness cover We ll cover your client s natural and legally adopted children for children s critical illness protection the age of 30 days to their 18th birthday. If your client s child is diagnosed and meets the policy definition of one of the conditions listed, we ll pay 50% of the benefit amount at the time of the claim, up to a maximum of 20,000. We always pay this benefit as a cash sum. If your client has an income benefit then we ll convert this to a lump sum and work out the benefit amount for children s critical illness protection this value. There s no limit to the number of children that can be covered by this benefit. Only one claim can be made for each child no matter how many policies your client has with us that have this benefit. The exception is where both parents have separate single life critical illness benefits. In this case, we can pay the children s critical illness benefit up to twice for a particular child. Total and permanent disability We offer a choice of definitions of incapacity. Total and permanent disability can be chosen alongside life protection, critical illness protection and life with critical illness protection. Total and permanent disability benefit is individually costed so it doesn t need to be taken with critical illness protection. That means your client needs to pay for total and permanent disability benefit if they want it. Reviewable premiums We offer reviewable premiums for critical illness benefits. The premium is guaranteed for the first five years and we review it every five years after that. It s the premium that s reviewable not the cover or your client s circumstances. Immediate cover facility This facility gives your client immediate cover for 60 days while we get whatever medical or financial information we need. The maximum benefit amount is 500,000 for critical illness and total and permanent disability protection. There must be a proven financial need and no other similar protection can be in force (or proposed). This is available on the business protection menu. High medical limits We offer competitive medical underwriting limits for both critical illness protection and life with critical illness protection. Accidental death benefit This is available on level and reducing, life protection and life with critical illness protection benefits on the Personal Protection menu at no extra cost and for up to 60 days the day the proposal reaches us.
