Question 1 What is AFFIN ISLAMIC Debit MasterCard? AFFIN ISLAMIC Debit MasterCard is Shariah compliance card that looks similar to a credit card or ATM (Automated Teller Machine) Card, but operates like cash or a personal cheque. Debit cards are different from credit cards. Unlike credit card is a way to "pay later," a debit card is a way to "pay now". When you use a debit card, your money is automatically deducted from your AFFIN ISLAMIC Current or Savings Account-i. Question 2 What are the Shariah Concepts applied to AFFIN ISLAMIC Debit MasterCard AFFIN ISLAMIC Debit MasterCard is an added payment instrument offered by AFFIN ISLAMIC under the Shariah principle of Wakalah Bi Ujr (agency with fee). Based on these principles, the bank will act as an agent (Wakil) by providing Direct Debit Point of Sale (POS) payment service and Cash ATM Withdrawals service to Cardmembers with a fee charged annually. Question 3 What is the difference between AFFIN ISLAMIC Debit MasterCard and a credit card? Debit means subtract. When you use a debit card, you are subtracting your money from your bank account. Debit cards allow you to spend only what is in your bank account. It is a quick transaction between the merchant and your personal bank account. The debit card transaction will be shown in your AFFIN ISLAMIC Current or Savings Account-i statement. Unlike credit card, no statement will be issued by Cards Business. Debit Cardmember is advised to retain their sales slips (receipts) to reconcile with their AFFIN ISLAMIC Current or Savings Account-i statement. Credit is money made available to you by a bank or other financial institution, like a financing. The amount the issuer allows you to use is determined by your credit history, income, debts, and ability to pay. You may use the credit with the understanding that you will pay/repay the amount, plus any fees/charges if you do not pay in full each month. You will receive a monthly statement detailing your charges and payments requirements. Question 4 What are the benefits of having AFFIN ISLAMIC Debit MasterCard? 1. Convenience to pay for Halal goods or services worldwide at 30 million merchant outlets that carries MasterCard logo. 2. Cash withdrawal transactions from ATMs subject to availability of funds in the designated AFFIN ISLAMIC Current or Savings Account-i and within the selected daily spending limit of the Cardmember. 3. Cardmember will enjoy Cash Bonus of 0.5% and will be credited into the AFFIN ISLAMIC Current or Savings Account-i every month. Cash back is applicable for all retail purchases excluding petrol and government related transactions. 4. Continue to enjoy the prevailing Indicative Profit/ Hibah rate (whichever applicable) on the AFFIN ISLAMIC Current or Savings Account-i. 5. The product is in compliance with the Shariah requirements. Question 5 What should I know about AFFIN ISLAMIC Debit MasterCard? 1. Obtaining a debit card is often easier than obtaining a credit card. 2. Using a debit card instead of writing cheques saves you from revealing your identification or giving out personal information at the time of the transaction. 3. Using a debit card frees you from carrying cash or cheque book.

4. Using a debit card means you no longer have to stock up on traveler s cheque or cash when you are traveling. 5. Our debit cards may be more readily accepted by merchants than cheque, especially in states or countries where MasterCard is well regarded and accepted. 6. The debit card is a quick, pay now product, hence no grace period is provided. 7. Purchase made with debit card is as good as purchases made by cash or cheque. 8. Hence, treatment of returning goods or canceling services purchased with a debit card is similar as if you are purchasing them by cash or cheque. 9. Similar to Credit Card, AFFINBANK ISLAMIC Debit MasterCard Cardmembers are required to sign on the sales slips when using the debit card for transaction. 10. For overseas transactions, PIN would be required to transact. Question 6 Who is eligible for AFFIN ISLAMIC Debit MasterCard? Individual customers who have an AFFIN ISLAMIC Current Account-i or Savings Account-i with aged eighteen (18) years and in full legal capacity to manage the card account are eligible to apply for AFFIN ISLAMIC Debit MasterCard. Note : Conventional Current and Savings account customers may apply for AFFIN ISLAMIC Debit MasterCard subject to fulfilling pre conditions as per Question 9 below. Question 7 What are the documents required for the application? Applicant is required to provide a non-returnable photocopy of IC/passport (both side) Question 8 What is the minimum amount to apply for AFFIN ISLAMIC Debit MasterCard? NEW CUSTOMER RM20 For AFFIN ISLAMIC Savings Account-i RM1,000 AFFIN ISLAMIC For Current Account-i EXISTING CUSTOMER Available Balance in Account must not be less than RM20 For any AFFIN ISLAMIC Current or Savings Account-i Bulk account opening Question 9 How and where to get AFFIN ISLAMIC Debit MasterCard? 1. Visit the nearest AFFIN ISLAMIC or AFFINBANK Branches 2. New Customer Open an AFFIN ISLAMIC Current or Savings Account-i and fill up an AFFIN ISLAMIC Debit MasterCard Application Form 3. Existing AFFIN ISLAMIC Current or Savings Account-i Account Holder Fill up an AFFIN ISLAMIC Debit MasterCard Application Form (also applicable to current AFFINBANK Debit MasterCard member with AFFIN ISLAMIC Current or Savings Account-i. 4. Existing AFFINBANK Conventional CASA Account Holder Open an AFFIN ISLAMIC Current or Savings Account-i and fill up an AFFIN ISLAMIC Debit MasterCard Application Form

Question 10 If my Current or Savings Account-i is maintained at Central branch (Home Branch), can I apply for AFFIN ISLAMIC Debit MasterCard at Bangsar branch (Receiving Branch)? Yes, you can. Just fill up the AFFIN ISLAMIC Debit MasterCard application form and everything will be arranged by the receiving branch. Question 11 What if there are two or more signatories (joint account) on my AFFIN ISLAMIC Current or Savings Account-i? Joint account holders need to apply for separate AFFIN ISLAMIC Debit MasterCard (two applications),but will be charged an Annual fee of RM20 based on per card basis. Separate cards allow each Cardmember's transactions with different spending limit, and it allows you to have separate PIN. Joint Savings Account-i holders with Both to sign will not be able to apply for AFFIN ISLAMIC Debit MasterCard. There are no supplementary cards for debit card. Question 12 How long does it take to receive an AFFIN ISLAMIC Debit MasterCard? You will get your AFFIN ISLAMIC Debit MasterCard within 10 business days by mail. Questions 13 What should I do upon receipt of AFFIN ISLAMIC Debit MasterCard? Kindly contact our Call Centre at 03-5522 3000 from 8.00a.m. to 9.00 p.m. from Monday to Friday, after 9.00 p.m., Saturday, Sunday and Public Holidays, please call 03-7947 5488 to activate the AFFIN ISLAMIC Debit MasterCard immediately. You will not be able to use the AFFIN ISLAMIC Debit MasterCard if the card is not activated. Question 14 Where can I use my AFFIN ISLAMIC Debit MasterCard? You can use your AFFIN ISLAMIC Debit MasterCard at Merchants with the MasterCard logo accepted at over 30 million locations worldwide. However, the Cardmember shall use the Card to effect retail purchase and payment of Halal Goods and Services only. The Cardmember are fully liable for all the non-halal transactions. AFFIN ISLAMIC has the absolute authority to stop any transaction effected at non-halal merchants. The followings merchant codes and transactions have been blocked from the usage by AFFIN ISLAMIC Debit MasterCard members: Merchant Codes Merchant Transactions 7995 Gambling transaction 5993 Cigar stores and stands 5921 Package stores, beer, wine and liquor 5698 Wig and Toupee Shops

Merchant Codes Merchant Transactions 5813 Drinking Place (alcoholic beverages, bars) 7273 Dating and escort services 7911 Dance halls, studios and schools 9754 Gambling (Horse racing, dog racing) For ATM transaction, you can use it at any ATM machine that displays the MasterCard Cirrus logo/meps. Question 15 If I choose to change my AFFIN ISLAMIC Savings Account-i or Current Account-i linked to AFFIN ISLAMIC Debit MasterCard, what should I do? You have to go to your nearest AFFIN BANK or AFFIN ISLAMIC branches and fill up the Change of Account No or Daily Spending Limit form and indicate your intended account number. Question 16 What is my Daily Spending Limit? For security control, AFFIN ISLAMIC Debit MasterCard Cardmember is provided with an option to choose a daily spending limit for their daily use for cash transactions as well as retail purchase as: 1. RM 1,000 2. RM 2,000 3. RM 3,000 4. Specify Amount (nearest RM 1,000, maximum of RM 10,000) Question 17 How do I increase/decrease my Daily Spending Limit? Procedures: 1. Please visit your nearest AFFIN ISLAMIC or AFFINBANK branch. 2. Fill up the Change of Account No or Daily Spending Limit form. 3. The daily spending limit will be adjusted after 1 working day. Question 18 What if my account balance is insufficient when comes to payment of renewal charges? Usage to your debit card will be restricted until the renewal annual charge is debited to your AFFIN ISLAMIC Current or Savings Account-i. Question 19 What kind of transaction that holding of funds will be done on my AFFIN ISLAMIC Current or Savings Account-i and how much? i. Hotel transaction Pre-authorization amount (depends on the duration of stay) will be charged during check-in to the hotel. Upon check-out, the pre-authorized amount will be reversed and the actual amount will be charged.

ii. Petrol stations at the pumps (out-door) RM200 pre-authorization will be charged to the card account and adjusted accordingly upon settlement by the petrol operator. However, some petrol operators allow the customer to select the required amount at the petrol pump. Alternatively, the in-door transaction is recommended since the transaction was transacted with an exact transaction amount as required by the customer. The pre-authorization amount will be deducted from Cardmember s Saving/Current Account and adjusted subsequently upon settlement of the actual amount used or not later than 30 days (for hotel transaction) and 4 working days (for petrol transaction) from the transaction date, whichever is earlier. Question 20 Will there be any charges imposed for the AFFIN ISLAMIC Debit MasterCard? Yes. The charges are: Annual Fee First year: WAIVED. Subsequent year : RM21.20* p.a. Replacement Card RM15 per request Balance Enquiry Fee via AFFIN ISLAMIC and AFFINBANK ATM Withdrawal Fee via AFFIN ISLAMIC and AFFINBANK ATM Withdrawal Fee via other Banks ATM/MEPS Copy of sales draft Overseas Transaction Conversion Fee FREE FREE RM7.42* per withdrawal RM10.60* per copy Where the Cardmember uses the Card outside Malaysia, the transaction incurred will be converted to Ringgit Malaysia where the exchange rate is determined by MasterCard International at the date it is processed by MasterCard International plus 1% foreign exchange spread (previously known as administration cost). Goods and Services Tax (GST) 6% imposed on selected fees and charges *The fees and charges are inclusive of GST Question 21 What if the transaction performed was not successfully processed / void but the amount was still deducted from my AFFIN ISLAMIC Current or Savings Account-i? Cardmember may dispute the transaction and amount will be refunded to the Cardmember not later than 30 working days from the transaction date. To expedite the transaction, the Cardmembers are advised to furnish the evidence of the unsuccessful transaction to the Bank e.g sales draft, internet transaction conformation, subscription slip etc. Dispute Form can be obtained from nearest AFFIN ISLAMIC or AFFIN BANK branch.

Question 22 What if the transaction was charged twice to my AFFIN ISLAMIC Debit MasterCard by the Merchant? Cardmember may request the duplicate transaction(s) to be reversed from the Cardmember s Debit Card account by filling up the Dispute Form which can be obtained from nearest AFFIN ISLAMIC or AFFIN BANK branch. The Dispute Form will be forwarded to Cards Business Department for refund to be made. Question 23 What should I do if I forget my AFFIN ISLAMIC Debit MasterCard PIN? Please visit the AFFIN ISLAMIC or AFFINBANK branches nearest to you. For the reissue of a PIN, the debit card needs to be replaced with a new debit card and card number. A replacement card penalty of RM15 will be debited from your AFFIN ISLAMIC Current or Savings Account-i. Question 24 What should I do if my AFFIN ISLAMIC Debit MasterCard is lost or stolen? Please notify our Call Centre at 03-5522 3000 from 8.00a.m. to 9.00 p.m. from Monday to Friday or our Authorization Centre at 03-7947 5488, after 9.00 p.m., Saturday, Sunday and Public Holidays to block your Card. A replacement card will be issued upon your request and a RM15 lost card replacement penalty will be levied to AFFIN ISLAMIC Current or Savings Account-i. Question 25 What are the Bank rights in the events the Cardmember fails to carry out their obligation / responsibilities? The Bank at its absolute discretion with giving prior notice or reason shall have the right: To restrict or limit the Cardmember s daily spending limit or refuse and otherwise withhold the Card Account. To check the Card Account of an applicant for the Card and Cardmember at any time as and when the Bank deems fit. To terminate the card facility if Cardmember fails to abide to the terms and conditions governing the use of the card. Question 26 What is the Bank exclusion of liabilities pursuant to issuance of the card facility to the Cardmembers? Following are the exclusion of liabilities of the Bank: The Bank shall not be liable for damage suffered or loss incurred due to the Cardmember s negligence. The Bank shall not be liable for any loss or damage caused to the Cardmember arising from the act or omission of any Authorized Merchant of MasterCard International. The Cardmember may handle any claim or dispute directly with the Merchant or MasterCard International.

Question 27 What are my obligations/responsibilities to prevent unauthorized/ fraudulent transaction incurred and the consequences for failing to carry it out? If your card is lost or stolen, please report immediately to the Bank. The Cardmember shall be liable for all transactions incurred from unauthorized usage of the card until a report of the loss/ stolen are received by the Bank. The Cardmember s maximum liability be limited to RM250 for those charges incurred prior to the reporting of the loss and/or theft Card, if Cardmember had taken reasonable care and diligence to safeguard the Card and reported the loss and/or theft of the Card as soon as reasonably practicable provided that the Cardmember has not acted fraudulently in respect of the loss and/or theft of the Card. The Cardmember shall not disclose the PIN to any other person and shall be liable to the Bank for any debit entry in Cardmember s Card Account with the Bank arising from any unauthorized transactions. The Cardmember shall be liable for all transactions incurred from unauthorized usage of the card where investigations made by the Bank or the police revealed that the Cardmember is involved in the incurring of any unauthorized transactions. The Cardmember shall be liable for such unauthorized transactions whether before or after the Bank receives his written notification of the loss/ stolen. Question 28 What do I need to do if there are changes to my correspondence? Question 30 What should I do if there are an errors / discrepancies in my card transactions?
