Issues resolved in Recovery Manager Issue ID 2679 2589 2574 2430 2413 2410 2393 2385 2384 2373 1950 Snapshot policy violation occurs in one click backup operation and displays the following message: max. virtual copy reach and oldest is mounted When Recovery Manager service terminates unexpectedly, it does not restart automatically. RME5127: A backup for same mailbox/storage group is already in progress, and only one backup operation at a time is allow. Applicable for Exchange 2007. Import operation failure due to a delay in LUN arrival to the host. NBU Backup jobs were partially completed, RME backup management shows that these are successful backup jobs, restore failed due to inconsistency Applicable for Exchange 2007 VSS unexpected error occurs intermittently during validation. Inform CLI is getting crashed during RME create VC command execution. RME3242: ERROR: Failed to verify one of the drives as a HP 3PAR base volume error. One Click Backup job when submitted is going into backup in progress, when multiple backups are run concurrently for different storage groups. Applicable for Exchange 2007. Create with Validation / mount operation failed intermittently, Windows event viewer throws that RME Virtual copy is not a license product. Remote copy creation fails and displays the following error message: Solution When Recovery Manager service terminates unexpectedly, it does not restart automatically. This is resolved and the service starts automatically after a delay of one minute. This issue occurs when the previous backup job is completed from the NBU master server, but NBU cleanup fails in Recovery Manager for exchange side. The fix resolves the subsequent Backup jobs for the same Storage group and will remove the failed backup from Recovery Manager for exchange and the current job is allowed to complete. After performing the mount operation and the snapshot is presented to the host, the event log displays the error message LUN didnt arrive on time and therefore opeation failed. The Backup jobs submitted by HP 3PAR Recovery Manager for Exchange 4.4.2, lists only the Backup jobs in Backup Management tree and if completed successfully at the NBU Master server. Partial completed jobs are not listed in the RME Backup Management list. When Concurrent NBU One Click backup jobs were executed for different storage groups and policies, there was a latency issue in the backup Exchange log files sorting operation, which resulted the cleanup command to timeout. The sorting issues for this release is fixed and the issue is resolved. When performing Create with validation operation for active / passive copy on the storage group, RME fails with error message virtual copy is licensed. RME also displays the following error message from VSS and Event Viewer Virtual Copy is not license. When remote copy creation fails, a cleanup operation is performed to delete all the data. 4 Issues resolved in Recovery Manager
Issue ID ERROR: Failed to validate policy. Aborting execution. Solution However, due to some issues old data is not deleted. Known issues with Recovery Manager Issue ID Workaround 2698 Simultaneous Remote Copy Virtual Copy synchronization created on different mail boxes fails and following message is displayed: ERROR: Please use a version of HP 3PAR VSS Provider that supports synchronous Remote Copy virtual copies and enable synchronous remote virtual copies HP recommends a time difference of 240 seconds between two Synchronous Remote Copy Virtual Copy creations. 2688 2680 2612 2582 2133 1310 After upgrading to HP 3PAR Recovery Manager for Exchange Server 4.5 from earlier versions, two InFom CLI versions are seen in the PATH environment variable. If a database or a log is hosted on VMP (Volume Mount Point) mapped to <System Drive>, operation fails and the following message is displayed: Drive is not a 3PAR volume The hprmcli command abruptly exits from the command line without showing command execution status. Mount operation fails intermittently and the following message is displayed: HP 3PAR VSS unexpected error Windows event viewer displays the following message: 3PARVSS5067: ERROR: Destination LUN 60002AC00000000001005ACF00004427 i.e. < LUN ID > could not be identified Microsoft event viewer event ID : 5067 If multiple HP 3PAR volumes are created and exposed as a host set, then Recovery Manager for Microsoft Exchange Server does not function properly. This issue is observed during mount or restore operation for backup server and production servers. In HP 3PAR Recovery Manager for SQL and HP 3PAR Recovery Manager for Exchange coexistence configuration, create virtual copy operation using HP 3PAR Recovery Manager for Exchange GUI fails with the error, mailbox database not found". If you are performing an upgrade from HP 3PAR Recovery Manager for Exchange Server version 4.3, 4.4, 4.4.1, or 4.4.2 to version 4.5, old version of HP 3PAR Inform CLI must be uninstalled and a new version of HP 3PAR inform CLI package with RME 4.5.0 must be installed. The mailbox or Storage Group database and log LUN must be mounted to VMP on HP 3PAR LUN. Try executing the command again. Try the mount operation again. Exposing multiple virtual volumes as a host set is not supported in this release of Recovery Manager for Microsoft Exchange Server. HP recommends keeping virtual volumes out of any VV set and expose virtual volumes to production server or backup server. Close all instances of Recovery Manager and launch HP 3PAR Recovery Manager for Exchange again. 1162 Edit time constraints does not allow to remove (0h) expiration set for a virtual copy from the Recovery Manager user interface. Remove the expiration using Recovery Manager CLI setvc command. To view the command details, enter the command HpRmCli Exch setvc in the Recovery Manager CLI. Known issues with Recovery Manager 5
Issue ID 2761 73013 72978 In Windows 2012 R2 cross domain environment, cancelling Register the Mailbox databases from RME GUI and registering manually from RME GUI fails to show any exchange mailbox. Also, it is unable to deregister the mail database from the GUI. When the format of the DP backup alternate mount point (GUI and CLI) directory is invalid, a mount point is created in the System32 folder. Issues with an alternate location during backup and restore. Workaround Currently, there is no workaround available for this issue. This will be fixed in subsequent release. Supply a valid value for the mount point parameter for Recovery Manager for Exchange server CLI. Ensure that the mount point path does not have blank space in between. 72837 72094 After a week without creating a virtual copy on a DAG mailbox, attempts to create virtual copies on a passive node fail. For DAG setups, when the nodes are hosted across different systems, the numeric policy is not applied correctly during create operations. The Recovery Manager for Exchange server GUI displays a warning message indicating that the number of virtual copies has exceeded the policy limit despite the actual number of virtual copies being below the policy limit. Occasionally this issue occurs when for more than a week or so a virtual copy on a DAG mailbox is not created. When trying to create a virtual copy when all mailbox nodes are healthy on passive nodes, the operation fails (create on active node succeeds). Move the active DAG node and attempt the create operation again on both the active and passive nodes. The Recovery Manager for Exchange server GUI may display a "policy limit reached" message. Increase the policy limit to avoid unwanted messages. 70439 67956 The Server or Mailbox registration action from the GUI causes the RME application to exit. There is no option to skip validation of a virtual copy when performing one-click backup. Applicable for Exchange 2007. Recovery Manager for Exchange server expects that the Exchange configuration is performed properly in the domain. Any error in Exchange setup, like non-working entries in active directory or incorrect configurations of Exchange server, causes the Recovery Manager to exit. The virtual copy validation is not available with one-click backup. To use virtual copy validation, create the virtual copy with validation first and then take the backup. 6 Known issues with Recovery Manager
