Edwin O Neill Law Enforcement Scholarship 1 Scholarship @ $10,000 Edwin O Neill was a pioneer in methods of scientific detection in law enforcement in the 1930 s and a long-time professor at the University of California at Berkeley. The first payment of funding will be available the following fall term. Recipients must provide verification of full-time enrollment in a bachelor s degree program of investigative law enforcement at an accredited institution of higher education. Upon verification of successful progress in a degree program of investigative law enforcement, the award will be disbursed in four equal installments over a two-year period.
Edwin O Neill Law Enforcement Scholarship Eligibility Applicant must meet all of the following qualifications to be considered for this scholarship: Applicant must be preparing for a career in an investigative branch of law enforcement working for county, state, or federal government. Applicant must be a current Allan Hancock College student and planning to graduate in the spring or a graduate of Allan Hancock College with an A.S. or A.A. degree. Applicant must apply and be accepted to a university for fall admission or currently be attending a university with the objective to acquire a bachelor s degree in investigative law enforcement. Examples of appropriate degrees: BA or BS in criminal justice, criminology, forensic science, law enforcement or a similar program. Excluded degrees/programs: BA or BS programs in sociology, corrections, probation, parole, or non-investigative work in law enforcement. Note: During the funding period the recipient must be enrolled as a full-time student. Instructions Print the application Complete the paper application using black ink and PRINT. It is the responsibility of the applicant to submit a complete packet (one original application packet and three copies) to the Edwin O Neill Law Enforcement Scholarship, c/o Allan Hancock College Foundation, 936 S. College Drive, P.O. Box 5170, Santa Maria, CA 93456-5170, no later than February 4, 2015. A complete scholarship application packet must include: Personal Data Form Transcripts from all post-secondary schools you have attended. Please note that Allan Hancock College transcripts do not need to be included with your application packet. Three Letters of Recommendation: Submit three (only three) letters of recommendation ~ at least one from an Allan Hancock College faculty member and one from faculty at your postsecondary school (if applicable). For your convenience, three Letter of Recommendation forms have been provided. However, a one-page letter of recommendation written on personalized stationery will be accepted (only one page of each letter will be photocopied for review). It is the applicant's responsibility to ensure that all letters of recommendation arrive at the Allan Hancock College Foundation office by the application deadline of February 4, 2015. Personal Statement: This is your opportunity to present yourself in the best possible light to the scholarship committee. Describe your academic preparation, achievements, employment experience, and interest in a career in investigative law enforcement. Elaborate on your career objective.
