At age 19, Georgette Miller immigrated to the United States from Jamaica with $200 borrowed from a friend and the clothes on her back. Through perseverance, sacrifice, faith, and hard work, she put herself through John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York City and Rutgers School of Law. This attitude and a desire to help others launched Georgette Miller and Associates. In her words, We help people who are in financial fallout, paving a new start to living debt free. In her seminars around the country, Georgette uses her personal experiences to guide consumers on the road to financial security. She says, Don t let FEAR steal your dreams and, in turn, rob the world of the dreams that are in you. Run your life like a business. Use your head and try to keep your heart out of the business. She has followed this philosophy and understood early on that everything leads to something. After obtaining her Juris Doctorate degree from Rutgers School of Law Georgette entered the legal corporate world. Over the years she practiced in some of the top national and international law firms in the country. Along the way she became in-house counsel with Pennsylvania Real Estate Investment Trust in Philadelphia. This experience and knowledge of the real estate industry has been invaluable to her clients who find themselves under the yolk of foreclosure. While working full time at Wolf, Block, Schorr and Solis-Cohen, she earned a Master of Laws (LLM) degree in Taxation from Temple University School of Law. Echoing in her mind were her mother s words, You are never too old to learn something new. After the crash in 2008, Georgette left a six-figure job in one of the top law firms in the legal industry to strike out on her own and help those who had been negatively impacted by the economic downturn. She had taken to heart her childhood learning from the Bible, For what shall it profit a man if he shall gain the whole world and lose his own soul? After making this decision she told one of the firm s partners about her new venture. I m going to help people file for bankruptcy. A lot of people are hurting, and I can help alleviate some of this hurt. The partner looked at her skeptically and said, Wait a minute. Let me get this right. You re leaving your job that makes you good money to do work for people that have no money? Child, have you lost your mind? Today she has five law offices under the banner of Georgette Miller and Associates, P.C. Miller is the H.R. BLOCK of Bankruptcy, helping consumers -small and large - get out of debt and back on the road to recovery. Her clients benefit not only from her knowledge and wisdom but from her caring heart and straight forward honesty to improve their circumstances through her legal services. Not one to rest on her laurels, Georgette can be heard weekly on a number of radio stations across the country. IN HER OWN WORDS GEORGETTE MILLER FEAR Don t let fear steal your dreams and, in turn, rob the world of the dreams that are in you. GET OFF THE DEBT PLANTATION Societal pressures and advertising have convinced us we can t live our personal day-to-day lives without accruing debt. As a consequence many of us have taken up residence on a debt plantation and don t see a way out. HAVE NO SHAME Cast aside the shame of bankruptcy. Think corporate. Everyone has the right to get out of an unsustainable financial situation. It s the first leg of your financial stool. CASH IS KING The best way to stay out of debt is to use cash for daily necessities. SAVE Even in your financial fallout a dollar goes a long way. Start saving as early as possible, and save a little over a long period of time. BE PREPARED Purchase insurance to shelter yourself from causalities or disaster when stuff happens. LIVE WITH BALANCE Always live below your means - save and invest the difference. This doesn t mean living in a dump or eating substandard food. But be a wise consumer. UNDERSTAND YOUR OPTIONS Not all services in the industry offer a way of Living Debt Free. Debt Settlement and Debt Consolidation companies want you to continue to pay but why are you paying when you have the legal right to pay nothing?
