Lesson Summary: A Lesson for KIDS CHURCH Lesson Title: Moses, Part 1 God s Gotta Plan Text: Exodus 1-2 This lesson by: Karl Bastian This lesson serves as both an introduction to the life of Moses as well as a lesson about God has a plan for each and every person he created, but that the fulfillment of that plan hinges on every person s willingness to follow and obey their Creator. Main Point: God s Gotta Plan for Your Life WHEN/WHAT/WHO/WHERE and HOW 11:00 Welcome Karl/Krew 11:05 Rules Karl Police Puppet ON TIME SONG 1 Welcome to Kid s Town it s Pastor Karl s Neighborhood where kids come to learn about God and the Bible and how to live for Jesus everyday! We ve got a lot a lot of FUN stuff planned for this year so we hope you ll come every week! Policeman puppet appears and interrupts Pastor Karl Pastor Karl Pastor Karl! (Oh, hello officer, what can I do for you?) I heard you saying that we are going to have a lot of fun this year (oh, yes, we are, Kid s Town IS fun!) Well, I thought I d better remind you and the kids that Kids Town is only fun when everyone is obeying the rules! (That s right, thank you for the reminder.) REVIEW THE FOUR RULES WITH THE KIDS AND POLICE MAN CAN COMMENT AS WELL. 11:05 Singing Krew 11:20 Math Moment Doc 11:25 Henry 11:30 Gus Rule One: Rule Two: Rule Three: Rule Four: Remain in your seat Raise your hand to speak Follow directions HAVE FUN! (but only works if first three are being obeyed) Introduce the KC KREW for the new school year, and then go into Worship Segment. Enter His Gates Ah lalala Happy! Happy! Making Melodies Lord, I Lift Your Name on High In an ongoing effort to illustrate to children that Truth is not relevant and does not change, almost every week ask the children what is 2 + 2. They will answer 4. Ask for a raise of hands. Award the first child who gives the correct answer. Say We will have another math moment next week. Say no more this will build over time. Delivering Gus' books (autobiography) ''Transcending Felt'' (Make a book cover and put a book you have multiple copies off.) Gus has written his autobiography, tells the future. (Read funny things from the book) Talk about how can t know what is in the future, BUT we do know who DOES know the future: GOD. That is why it is important that we are following and obeying him.

11:35 Object Lesson SHOW A TOMBSTONE PIZZA BOX. What is the line they use in Tombstone Pizza commercials? What do you want on your tombstone? They are talking about your pizza, but the saying comes from the serious question, what do you want people to say about you when your life is over? If you have ever been to a funeral you hear people saying really nice things about the person who died, and you sometimes think, Wow I hope people will say things like that about me someday! Well, let me read to you what was said about a man in the Bible at the end of his life, and then you try to guess who it was: 10 Since then, no prophet has risen in Israel like, whom the LORD knew face to face, 11 who did all those miraculous signs and wonders the LORD sent him to do. (DELETED HINTS) 12 For no one has ever shown the mighty power or performed the awesome deeds that did in the sight of all Israel. (Deuteronomy 34:10-12) WHO WAS IT? Award the child who guesses correctly. It was MOSES. Read entire three verses with the DELETED HINTS : in Egypt--to Pharaoh and to all his officials and to his whole land. Explain that we are going to be studying the life of Moses to find out just why God used him so mightily and what we can learn so that God can use us mightily too! 11:40 Kid James 11:43 Puppet: General Epistle 11:45 Bible Story God has a plan for each and every one of us just like he did for Moses but it is important that we follow and obey him in order to see that plan come true. Let s go visit KID JAMES and see if he has a verse for us about God having a plan for our life! Jeremiah 29:11 Visit KID JAMES (Bible puppet) and ask if he knows a good verse about how God has a plan for our lives. He will suggest Jeremiah 29:11 and read it for the kids. Have him repeat it a few times, then say it with the kids. Then look it up in your Bible and read the verses AFTER VERSE 11 that give the condition for us to see that purpose come true. 11 For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. 12 Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. 13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. (Army guy named General Epistle) You talkin' about the Bible? The Bible is the Greatest Book Ever! I just finished Bible Boot Camp. I'm an expert in the Bible. Did you know (goes into Bible facts 2, gets interrupted by leader) Kids, if you're smart, you'll be Kid's in da Word! REWARD: Kids who brought a Bible to Kid's Church. Now lets get to our Bible Story of the day: God s Gotta Plan Moses Part 1 Exodus 1-2 READ and DRAW: While Sara reads the Story of Moses from Exodus chapter 1 and 2) Pastor Karl will illustrate via Digital Draw on screen. (This is an electronic drawing board that attaches to a computer that can be projected for the kids to see on a large screen.) It can also be done by drawing on a white board or chalk as the story is read. This is to give the children something to focus on as they are listening to the story being read. 11:55 Molly 12:00 Lesson Review Story: Moses birth, and salvation. Moses mom trust in God and willingness to obey God rather than man. MOLLY w/ Flower, he loves me, he loves me not wants to know the future, needs to trust God. She comes to window with flower with no peddles, sad because she ended on 'he loves me not.' LESSON: Lessons from Moses and his family What it means for us today: Do what s right trust God!

12:03 Krew Puppet 12:05 Puppet Show 12:05 Puppet Show 12:10 Review Game Krew Puppet people always ask me what I wanna be when I grow up, I don t know, is that ok? Song: ''I'm just a kid'' PROPS: Whale with whole cut out to show Jonah inside Puppet(s) with jail costume(s) on Baby puppet in a basket and sister / giant stuffed crocodile! (mentioned in song) Giant cardboard boat and animal puppets plus Noah puppet Kangaroo puppet (mentioned in song) Source: CD: 25 Best of Great Big Praise Book 1 by Lillenas Song: ''I'm just a kid'' Noggin Knocker Review Game Show five prize boxes. Each contains a prize, and each is a little nicer/more valuable than the one before. Ask 'Who wants to be a prize winner!' Ask the audience a qualifying question (easy question from the lesson) Choose a kid who has been good all morning to come up on stage. They are the player for the entire game, even if they get some questions wrong. (unlike the TV game show that this is based on) If they get question #1 they win prize #1, give them the box to hold, but not open yet. If they get #2 right, give them box #2. (same with #3, 4 and 5) If they get them ALL right, they get all five prizes. (Question #5 is a bonus question to win all the prizes). At any time that they do not get an answer correct, they still are the 'player' but ask the audience to raise hand and give a small prize (piece of candy, trading card) to the first to give the correct answer. Then go back to player for next question. If they do not get them all, they get whatever is in the last box they earned. (For example, if the got #1 right, but missed #2 and #3, but get #4 or #5 right, they would earn prize #2, the 'second best' prize. OPTION: Let them choose any one of the boxes earned if they don't win all five. QUESTIONS: 1. What book of the Bible has the story of Moses birth and salvation. (Exodus) 2. Why did Moses mother put her baby in the river? (To save his life) 3. What river did baby Moses float down? (Nile) 4. Who found the baby Moses? (Pharaoh s daughter) 5. BONUS: What is the difference between a biography and an autobiography? (bio author different from subject; auto- author is the person the book is about) 12:15 Assignment Closing Song Closing Prayer NOTE: In later lessons we adding a qualifying question that a kid in the audience had to answer to get to come up and play. That eliminated any kid coming all the way up and missing the first question, and then only kids who want to play raise their hand. ASSIGNMENT THIS WEEK: Take the Prayer Card of Jeremiah 29:11 we will give you at the door when you leave and post it somewhere in your room where you will see it every day before bed. Work on memorizing the verse. Read the verse and say the prayer before bed every night: Dear God, Thanks for today and I'm looking forward to tomorrow. Help me every day to trust you and follow you because I want Your plan and Your best for me, nothing more and nothing less. I can't wait to see what you have planned for me. I love you. In Jesus Name, Amen. I'm Just a Kid! God, thank you for making us and for loving us enough to make a great plan for our lives. Help us to live for you every day, in every way, even when it s hard, so that we can experience that great plan in our lives. Forgive us for when we get selfish and greedy and forget about you

1 We re ON TIME for church today! We never never ever would stay away. We re here to have FUN and we ll never be board Because we re hear to worship the Lord. We re gonna get kinda loud But that s OK Because also gonna take some time to pray, We re gonna open the Book, and take a look, And then DO whatever it is say HEY! HEY! 2 Bible facts: Written over a period of 1600 yeas, by forty authors, in three languages, in different countries, from all walks of life from kings to fishermen and a doctor, the most read, most published, most purchased book in the history of the world, and impossible to destroy despite many attempts, etc.

[MOLLY Routine] He loves me. He loves me not.. He loves me. He loves me not.. He loves me. He loves me not.. He loves me. He loves me not.. He loves me. OH!! YES!!! Yipppeeee!!!. WAIT, ON NO!!!! NO!!!!!! He loves me not!!!! There was one more!!! NO! It can t be!!!!!!! (CRIES) KARL COMES TO WINDOW to see if she is OK, she comes crying, flowers with out peddles visible. I am trying to find out if Gus will ever love me, and no matter how many flowers I try, it always ends with He loves me not I ve started with He loves me, then with He loves me not but not matter what I do (Wailing) HE LOVES ME NOT!!!! Karl explains that is no way to find out if someone loves you or will ever love you you have to trust the Lord with your future. If that is His will it will happen, if not, it will be something BETTER! Something BETTER THAN GUS wowie there s a thought better than Gus. WOW that would be worth waiting for, and if not, then I ll get Gus, so either way I ll get the best! I m gonna trust God!

KID JAMES: (small talk about summer, hanging out in the attic, collecting dust, etc.) KARL ASKS FOR VERSE: I got a great verse. From the prophet Jeremiah, in the 29 th chapter of his book, 11 th verse to be exact. Goes like this: For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
