RESEARCH GRANT CRITERIA The Ashland University Dwight Schar College of Nursing & Health Sciences (CONHS) Research Center provides research funds annually for qualified faculty, staff, and student applicants. The funding level will vary from $250 to $1000. The funding is limited to 11 months within a fiscal grant cycle June 1 st to May 1st. Preference is given to multidisciplinary, high impact, and potentially fundable areas of research. Un-awarded funds will be used for professional development within the fiscal funding period until the all funds are dispersed. Eligibility: Primary Investigator Applicant must be full-time Ashland University College of Nursing & Health Sciences faculty, staff, or students. The Primary Investigator is expected to serve in the Research Center. Deadline: The deadline for submitting applications for the 2014-15 grant cycle is October 1st. Decisions will be rendered by November 15th. The deadline for submitting applications for the 2015-16 grant cycle is April 1st. Decisions will be rendered by May 15 th. Expectations from Funded Investigators: A summary report of the project outcomes with an accounting for the awards granted is to be submitted to the Research Center at the conclusion of the grant cycle. The investigator must also submit copies of all publications resulting from the project. Interested faculty, staff, and students are encouraged to consult with the Nursing or Health Science Research Center Membership for mentoring through the application process. Page 1 of 12

Total projected budget including spreadsheet Use enclosed required form. 3. Appendices 1 copy of each a. Signed AU Conflict of Interest disavowal. b. Biographical sketches for the principal investigator; and if applicable, coinvestigators, consultants and academic advisors. Curriculum Vitae is not acceptable. Required form included. c. Copy of all instruments to be utilized. d. Faculty supported student research to include the Advisor s evaluation. e. IRB/HSRB approval (if applicable). f. Documentation of consultation if applicable. (Ex. Statistician) g. Documentation of support and access (if part of the investigation) for where the research will be conducted at locations other than the sponsoring institution. 4. ADDITIONAL GUIDELINES The CONHS Research Center Award Committee will only review complete applications. Research proposals will undergo a blind review by the CONHS Research Center Award Committee. All information obtained by the reviewer(s) during the review process about a research study will be kept strictly confidential. If a potential conflict of interest exists between a reviewer and applicant, the reviewer will withdraw from the proposal review process. If a proposal is reviewed but not approved for funding or if there are no funds currently available, the proposal will be appropriately disposed. The CONHS Research Center Award Committee will not provide research critique. Unused funds will be appropriated at the discretion of the CONHS Research Center. Consideration will be given to provide financial support for the CONHS Spring Research Symposium. All publications and presentations emanating from research projects funded by the Dwight Schar College of Nursing and Health Sciences must contain the following statement: This project was supported in part by a research grant from Ashland University College of Nursing and Health Sciences. A summary report of the project outcomes with an accounting for the awards granted is to be submitted to the Research Center at the conclusion of the grant cycle. The investigator must also submit copies of all publications resulting from the research. If any part of the investigation will be conducted in locations other than the sponsoring institution, include a letter of support and access from each location.
