Part 1: Overview Regions 1, 2 and 3 Europe: The problems with REA4 (Russian Airforce) on 7018 and 7044 MHz were going on. The Italian Ministry of Finance was daily transmitting on 7001.6 in ALE, not observing the official complaints. In the meantime the location of the ALE-systems on 7011.6 and 7021.6 have been found out: Albania. Earlier bearings, which showed Greece, were not correct! Idents are RS0, CS0 and others. The OTH radar-systems on Cyprus was daily active on 10, 14 and 21 MHz, always below the MUF. Radio Minsk on 7105 khz caused harmful splatters down to 7093 khz. Radio Minsk was audible on 7000 khz, too (late evening hours). Knitting patterns: 7105 x 2 = 14210 khz ///// 14210 khz 7210 khz = 7000 khz!!! The German PTT confirmed the observations. An official complaint will follow. Africa: Propagation was affected by serious solar flares at various times during the month, blacking out some low bands for quite long periods. The intruders in Tanzania have been considerably reduced. The mission stations on 7005 khz, the agricultural estates on 7022.5 khz and the safari net on 7056 khz are no longer heard, while the TANESCO net on 7045 khz was limited to two stations called late in the period, Kilwa and Mtwara, the caller not being identified. The only net still in full use was that on 7023 khz. Somalis continue unabated to intrude on the 40 and 20 meter bands in Somalia itself, and although it cannot be positively confirmed contact seems to be maintained still with Nairobi and Garissa. The few Amateur operators in Somalia (at Galkayu) have expressed their concern at the wholesale piracy of the Amateur bands in that country. NGOs used 14000 khz throughout the region as before, with others on 7020, 7027, 7040 and 7042 khz. Ethiopian stations in Amharic were heard on 7006, 7015, 7035, 7040, 7050 and 7060 khz. Southern Sudan, DFC and Ethiopian stations were active on 40 and 20 meters. Unusually, no 2 meter intruders were heard in Nairobi. The bold brothers and sisters: Missonaries from Zaire (DRC), Burundi, Rwanda on 14.021 and 21.021 MHz USB daily, all day. Idents: Mike, Sierra, Kilo and others, languages: French, vernacular. The African ALE-net on 14001.6 was very active (Eritrea, Burundi, Liberia, Algeria). The Voice of the Broad Masses from Eritrea was audible on 7.100. Fishery traffic on 10101 USB, Morocco, daily. Middle-East: ALE systems were observed on 7004 and 21136 (US-MIL). Bearings were showing MEA (Middle East). Fellows from Yemen were abusing 21000.0 USB and 21002.3 in Pactor 1 encrypted daily. Russia / Ukraine: Ukrainian peacekeeping forces continued to usurpate our bands for private and family traffic, especially on 21150 khz, USB, every Sunday noon. The Russian Airforce was daily active on 7.018 (F1B) and 7.044 (A1A). The transmissions are well known from 2003 (ident: REA4). The German PTT has been asked for assistance. The system on 7.018 was even heard in Canada and Africa. Many CIS-taxis on 10 m in FM daily, as usual. Region 2 news: Due to the ionospheric situation, driftnet buoys were very weak or not audible. 24895.0 24985 LSB (roger beep) Brazilian truckers daily as usual! Private intruders from Central America have been found on the 30 m-band. Region 3 news: The Chinese MIL system on 21258 khz (18 channels) was weak audible for few days. Even on 7001 khz this system appeared for one evening. L9CC and CP17 (A1A / roundslip) on 40 m were reported from DJ9KR and PA0GRU. Location: China. Far East pirates were observed on 7000 khz (USB) and on different QRGs on the 10 MHz-band in the late evening hours. Chinese MIL MFSK 18 channels (18 x 90 Bd) on 7001 khz! (Wavecom W40PC)
