CBS NEWS December 11, 2013 Texas deadly drunk driving probation sentence leaves families stunned FORT WORTH, Texas -- Several families sat stunned and in tears in a Tarrant County juvenile courtroom on Tuesday, reports CBS Dallas-Fort Worth. Emotions were high after a judge sentenced the 16-yearold teenager to 10 years probation for a drunk driving crash that killed four people back in June. As Eric Boyles, a North Texas man who had family members killed in the crash, walked from the court he tried to speak through the tears. I apologize, he said, it s been an emotional day. For the first time since the accident Boyles broke his silence. We had over 180 years of life taken, future life not 180 years lived, but 180 years of future life taken and two of those were my wife and daughter. Hollie and Shelby Boyles had left their home to help Breanna Mitchell, whose SUV broke down on a dark, narrow road. Youth pastor Brian Jennings was driving past the mother and daughter and pulled over to help. That s when investigators say the teenage driver slammed into everyone. The teenager admitted he was drinking and driving. At the time of the crash his blood alcohol was three times the legal limit. http://www.cbsnews.com/news/texas-deadly-drunk-driving-probation-sentenceleaves-families-stunned/

ABC 13 Eyewitness News July 30, 2013 TEEN CHARGED IN WRECK THAT KILLED FRIEND ON HOUSTON'S SOUTH SIDE Houston, Texas A 19-year-old man accused of driving drunk and killing a friend is now charged in his friend's death. Police say George Marion was drunk when he lost control of his car and crashed into a bayou over the weekend. Marion walked into court with his head down this morning. His family and friends wiped away tears as the charges were read against him. Prosecutors say around 3:15am Sunday, Marion was coming from a friend's house with his friend, Terrance Barnes, in the back seat and Brian Nunez in the front seat. Court records say Marion was speeding, going about 70 miles per hour in the 9700 block of West Bellfort when he lost control, drove into a median, struck a pipe and flew across the bayou and into a culvert. According to court records, Marion was able to get out of the car, but his front seat passenger was critically injured and his back seat passenger died at the scene. "The back seat passenger was the passenger who ended up passing away at the scene," said Janna Oswald with the Harris County DA's Office. "The front seat passenger was transported and ended up having spinal fractures, facial fractures, broken arms and rib bones." "No one's pointing fingers," said family member Bonnie Cleven. "The mother of the child in the hospital, they understand. It could have been any one of the kids driving. It's very tragic." Prosecutors say Marion originally told police that he had not been drinking and he was only going 30 miles per hour and lost control because of another vehicle. Court records show that a witness told police otherwise and Marion later admitted to drinking. He was also found to have marijuana in his system. Marion doesn't have any prior convictions. But he's now charged with intoxication manslaughter and intoxication assault. His bond is set at $60,000. http://abc13.com/archive/9189882/
