The Scholarships are open for domestic and international students. Kuwait University seeks candidates with exceptional abilities qualifying them to contribute effectively to the economic, social, technological, and cognitive development in the country. The scholarship will include a full university tuition waiver, as well as generous financial Monthly stipend of KD 1000 (approximately $3500) for a Master s degree student and KD 1400 (approximately $ 5000) for a Ph.D. degree student. Kuwait University offers successful candidates a generous benefits plan, which includes air-ticket, accommodations, public health insurance and entry visa in accordance with Kuwait University rules and regulations. 1
REQUIRMENTS FOR ELIGIBILITY 1. The candidate should be an applicant who meets the required conditions for admission as a full-time student to one of Kuwait University graduate programs (Master or PhD), which address issues of the contemporary society. 2. The applicant s GPA and major GPA of his/her Bachelor s and Master s degree should not be less than 3.00 points on the scale of 4.00 points or its equivalent. The degree must be conferred by an approved academic institution. 3. The applicant must have a good command of English language (spoken and written) to the extent that allows him to pursue his study and research in an easy and effective way in the graduate program by providing the required English language test scores, that is a minimum TOEFL score of 550 or its equivalent. 4. The applicant must have successfully satisfied the program requirements in terms of international admission tests scores (program specific). 5. The applicant must have a good command of the language of instruction in the selected program. 6. The application must fulfill the additional conditions approved by College of Graduate Studies and required by the selected program. APPLICATION REQUIRMENTS 1. The Master s /Bachelor's Degree and final transcript (original) of courses of an applicant for admission to a Ph.D./Master program. 2. A copy of the applicant s passport. 3. Copy of Civil ID for Residence. 4. Application documents required from a non-defined nationality applicant from a Kuwaiti mother (copy of mother s civil identity card, copy of a birth certificate of the applicant, and a copy of security card of the applicant). 5. Copy of a personal colored photographs (4cm x 6cm). 6. A valid language test scores. 7. A valid result of an internationally common admission test required by the concerned graduate program (such as GMAT). 8. Three letters of recommendation. 2
9. Copy of experience certificate required by concerned graduate program. To apply for the scholarship, the applicant should complete the appropriate form found on the University website (www.kuniv.edu.kw), which should be forwarded along with all the required documents to College of Graduate Studies at (gradapply@ku.edu.kw) in PDF format. CONDITIONS 1. The student should familiarize himself/herself with the Graduate College rules and regulations related to registration and requirements of the concerned graduate program, the scholarship, the research activities and various pertaining procedures. 2. Performing teaching load and scientific assistance for undergraduate students at the department or the college to which his/her graduate program belongs. 3. Completing all graduation requirements within the time frame of the scholarship. 4. The scholarship student may not undertake any paid employment during the term of the scholarship. 5. The scholarship student should be aware of the authorship and coauthorship conventions of his/her discipline. 6. The scholarship student should acknowledge in writing the support of CGS in all publications and media announcements related to the research project. 7. The scholarship cannot transfer from full-time to part-time or to distance learning. 8. The scholarship student should submit, the final version of the Master s Thesis or the PhD dissertation manuscript produced from the selected research project (for referee and defense) before the end of the scholarship term, to the concerned authority at CGS. 9. The scholarship student may not change his/her field of specialization specified for him/her at the time of nomination for the scholarship. 3
10. The scholarship should maintain a minimum GPA of 3:00 points during the term of scholarship. 11. The scholarship may not be postponed to a subsequent time. However, after allocation and entry into force, it may be suspended for unexpected personal reasons, for one semester. Suspension of scholarship may be allowed only twice during the term of the scholarship. 12. A scholarship student who withdraws unilaterally (without acceptable excuses) from the program shall refund the full amount of scholarship that has been paid. BENEFITS FOR NON RESIDENTS 1- Allowance for an economy class ticket to be provided once for travelling from their residing country to Kuwait and vice versa when returning home after graduation. 2- KU help in issuance of entry visas. 3- Accommodation allowance. 4- Governmental health insurance. 4
