Assessment & Rehabilitation Unit BALFOUR HOSPITAL STUDENTS HANDOUT WHAT WE OFFER We believe that the older patient is an individual and therefore promote individualised care. This entails: Patient centred approach to care Accountability of the nurse to patients and the profession Recognising the rights of patients to participate in planning and carrying out their care Supporting the contribution made by relatives and past carers Showing respect for the individual Adherence to the principles of beneficence and non-malfeasance Standards of care The ward is staffed by experienced nurses who possess a wide variety of skills and knowledge. The staff are keen to pass on their expertise in this field of nursing and also hope to be able to gain a greater insight into the needs of students as well as building up a relationship with them. During your stay with us you will be under the supervision of a registered nurse who will exercise accountability as directed by the NMC guidelines. Students will hold a degree of responsibility for their own actions. Students are expected to work with the staff and as a result learn and develop their skills in the following ways.
