Causal Relationship Model of IQ and AQ Integrated with Environmental Education Affecting Environmental Behavior Nongnapas Thiengkamol a * a) Mahasarakham University, Mahasarakham 44150, Thailand Abstract The populations were 37,101 undergraduate student of Mahasarakham University in second semester of academic year of 2012. The Multi-stage simple random sampling technique was employed to collect the sample for 400 undergraduate students. The research instrument was the questionnaire and it was used for data collecting. LISREL was used for model verification. The objective was to propose the structural model Intelligence Quotient (IQ), Adversity Quotient (AQ) and Environmental Education (EE) affecting to environmental behavior for global warming alleviation through inspiration of public consciousness. Results illustrated that the structural model confirmatory factors of AQ, IQ, and EE were able to explain the variation of endogenous factors of Inspiration of Public Consciousness for Environmental Conservation (IPC) to caused Environmental Behaviors for Global Warming Alleviation (BEH) with 93.00 percents. IPC was the most effect to BEH with 0.66. Concurrently, EE, IQ, and AQ, were able to predict IPC with 87.00 percents and EE was the most effect to IPC with 0.49. Introduction The climate change is ascribed directly or indirectly to human activity that changes the global atmospheric composition. The natural climate variability has been observed over a long periods. Nevertheless, human activities are claimed as primary cause of global warming due to forest devastation and fossil fuel combustion. These have increased the greenhouse gases accumulation. However, the deforestation is claimed as the key constituent for global warming and the sequence is fossil fuel burning [1] [2] [3][4] Intelligence quotient (IQ) has related to genetic heredity or environment of nurture. Some beliefs it is directly attached to hereditary parental IQ. The heritability of IQ has been inspected for almost a century but there is still argument about the importance of heritability and the mechanisms of inheritance [5] [6] [7] [8] [9] [10]. Afterward Dickens and Flynn proposed a model for determining several unclear conclusions regarding IQ. In their model, an environmental stimulus can have a very great effect on IQ, even for adults, but this effect also decays over time unless the stimulus continues and the model could be adapted to include possible factors, like nutrition during early childhood, that may cause permanent effects. Therefore, IQ change can be explained by a normally more stimulating environment for all people. The study concluded that IQ scores do have high extrapolative validity for individual differences in school accomplishment. They verify the predictive validity of IQ for adult professional status, even when variables such as education and family conditions have been statistically controlled. They proposed that individual differences in intelligence are significantly influenced by both genetics and environment but it is still not identified that which one is foremost influence [11] [12]. Adversity Quotient (AQ) is an ability to solve the problems and attack beat difficulty. Generally, the person with this characteristic has high opportunity to be successful. AQ is the most reasonably powerful and generally used in the world for evaluating and strengthening human flexibility. Moreover, person who has good AQ will be an optimist. The creative component of human success is technique to manage with how people react to the difficulty of life [13] [14] 15] [16] [17]. The powering evidence on our reaction to difficult object of frustrations and obstacles are the most scaring tragedy [14] [15] [16] [17]. Environmental Education (EE) is learning process of knowledge transferring the environmental conservation via giving knowledge and making understand the environmental problem, raising awareness, changing attitude, cultivating consciousness, taking responsibility and practicing to gain more skill for accomplishing better environmental behavior with inspiration of public mind or public consciousness. EE should be integrated via all education system whether formal, informal, non-formal and lifelong education. The principles of EE is consistent to Sustainable Development (SD) in terms of increasing environmental knowledge and understanding, changing people's attitudes and awareness, to have appropriate value and skill to make a proper decision for environmental conservation behavior with active public participation in environmental problem solving [4] [18] [19][20] [21] [22] [23] [24] [25] [26]. Thiengkamol disclosed from numerous studies about inspiration of public consciousness or public mind, she postulates that it might take place insight of people or it might occur from his or her impression on role model, event, environment and media perception. It is unrelated from motivation because inspiration needs no rewards. Inspiration of 57

public consciousness or public mind, especially, for natural resources and environment conservation, one doesn t receive any incentive, respect or gratefulness for one s act for natural resources and environment conservation [4] [18] [19] [21] [22] [23] [26] [27] [28 [30] [31] [32]. There is no the research was conducted about IQ, AQ, EE affecting to environmental behavior for global warming alleviation through inspiration of public consciousness including person as role model, impressive event, impressive environment, and media [22] [23] [33][34][35] [36] when it compared with other aspects of relating factors affecting to environmental behavior for global warming alleviation. Therefore, this research was aimed to study by covering all factors relating as mentioned above, it would be able to develop a model of environmental behaviors for global warming alleviation that are affected by IQ, AQ and EE through inspiration of public consciousness. Objective The objective was to propose the structural model of IQ, AQ and EE affecting to environmental behavior for global warming alleviation through inspiration of public consciousness. 2. Methodology Population and sample. The populations were 37,101 undergraduate students of the second semester in academic year 2012 of Mahasarakham University. The sample was 400 students of different faculties of Mahasarakham University. Research instrument The questionnaire was used as tool for data collection. The content and structural validity were determined by Item Objective Congruent (IOC) with 5 experts in the aspects of environmental education, psychology, social science and social research methodology. The reliability was done by collecting the sample group from 50 undergraduate students of Rajabhat Mahasarakham University which is nearby Mahasarakham University. The reliability was determined by Cronbach s Alpha. The reliability of Adversity Quotient (AQ), Intelligence Quotient (IQ), EE (environmental Education) Inspiration of Public Consciousness (IPC), Behaviors for Global Warming Alleviation (BEH), and the whole questionnaire were 0.919, 0.785, 0.972, 0.977, 0.964 and 0.973 respectively. Data collection The questionnaire was used as tool for data collection from 400 undergraduates from different faculties of Mahasarakham University with Multistage random sampling techniques. Statistical analysis The descriptive statistics used were frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation. The inferential statistics used was LISREL by considering on Chi-Square value differs from zero with no statistical significant at 0.05 level or Chi- Square/df value with lesser or equal to 5, P-value with no statistical significant at 0.05 level and RMSEA (Root Mean Square Error Approximation) value with lesser than 0.05 including index level of model congruent value, GFI (Goodness of Fit Index) and index level of model congruent value, AGFI (Adjust Goodness of Fit Index) between 0.90-1.00. 3. Results and Discussions 1. Results of confirmatory factors of exogenous variables 1.1 Confirmatory factors analysis of exogenous variables of Intelligence Quotient (IQ) Results of Confirmatory Factor Analysis of Exogenous Variables of IQ affecting environmental Behaviors for global warming alleviation (BEH), were revealed as followings. Confirmatory factors of IQ had Bartlett s test of Sphericity of 176.895 statistically significant level of 0.01, and Kaiser Mayer Olkin Measure of Sampling Adequacy (MSA) of 0.639. Considering on loading weight of 3 observed variables in model, it was revealed that observed variables had loading weight with 0.34 to 0.59 and had covariate to model of IQ with 27.00 to 60.00 percents. 1.2 Results of confirmatory factors analysis of exogenous variables of Adversity Quotient (AQ) Confirmatory factor analysis of exogenous variables of AQ affecting BEH was revealed as the followings. Confirmatory factors of AQ had Bartlett s test of Sphericity of 339.969 statistically significant level of 0.01, and Kaiser Mayer Olkin Measure of Sampling Adequacy (MSA of 0.694. This indicated that components of AQ aspect had proper relationship at good level and it can be used for analysis of confirmatory factors as shown in figure 2 and table 2. From figure 2 and table 2, results of analysis of confirmatory factors of AQ from 3 observed variables was revealed that the model was congruent to empirical data by considering from 1) Goodness of Fit Index (GFI) Equaled to 1.00 and Adjust Goodness of Fit Index (AGFI) equaled to 1.00, 2) Root Mean Square Error of Approximation (RMSEA) Equaled to 0.000 (RMSEA < 0.05) and 3) Chi- Square value had no statistically significant 59

at level of 0.01 and divided by degree of freedom was lesser than or equaled to 5.00 ( ). Considering on loading weight of observed variables in model, it was revealed that observed variables had loading weight with 0.40 to 0.77 and had covariate to model of AQ with 44.00 to 65.00 percents. 1.3 Confirmatory factors analysis of exogenous variables of Environmental Education (EE) χ 2 /df 5.00 Confirmatory Factor Analysis of Exogenous Variables of EE affecting to BEH was revealed as the followings. Confirmatory factors of EE had Bartlett s test of Sphericity of 2115.466 statistically significant level (p<.01) and Kaiser Mayer Olkin Measure of Sampling Adequacy (MSA) of 0.860. Considering on loading weight of 6 observed variables in model, it was revealed that observed variables had loading weight with 0.36 to 0.78 and had covariate to model of Environmental Education with 31.00 to 99.00 percents. /df 5.00 60

2. Results of confirmatory factors of endogenous variables Results of Confirmatory Factors Analysis of Endogenous Variables of Inspiration of Public Consciousness influencing to Environmental Conservation Behaviors was revealed as followings. 2.1 confirmatory factors analysis of endogenous variables of inspiration of public consciousness for environmental conservation (IPC) Confirmatory Factors Analysis of Endogenous Variables of Inspiration of IPC to BEH was revealed as the followings. Confirmatory Factors of Inspiration of IPC had Bartlett s test of Sphericity of 1280.480 statistically significant level (p< 0.01) and Kaiser Mayer Olkin Measure of Sampling Adequacy (MSA) of 0.846. This indicated that components Inspiration of IPC aspect had proper relationship at good level and it can be used for analysis of confirmatory factors as shown in figure 4 and table 4. From figure 4 and table 4, results of analysis of confirmatory factors of IPC from 4 observed variables was revealed that the model was congruent to empirical data by considering from 1) Goodness of Fit Index (GFI) Equaled to 1.00 and Adjust Goodness of Fit Index (AGFI) Equaled to 0.98, 2) Root Mean Square Error of Approximation (RMSEA) Equaled to 0.046 (RMSEA < 0.05), and 3) Chi- Square value had no statistically significant at level of.01 and divided by degree of freedom was lesser than or equaled to 5.00 ( ). Considering on loading weight of 4 observed variables in model, it was revealed that observed variables had loading weight with 0.60 to 0.71 and had covariate to model of Inspiration of Public Consciousness for Environmental Conservation (IPC) with 70.00 to 92.00 percents. 2.2 Confirmatory factors analysis of endogenous variables of Environmental Behaviors for Global Warming Alleviation (BEH) Confirmatory Factors of BEH had Bartlett s test of Sphericity of 1409.304 statistically significant level (p< 0.01) and Kaiser Mayer Olkin Measure of Sampling Adequacy (MSA) of 0.833. Considering on loading weight of 6 observed variables in model, it was revealed that observed variables had loading weight with 0.39 to 0.63 and had covariate to model of Environmental Behaviors for Global Warming Alleviation (BEH) with 37.00 to 73.00 percents. 3. Results of Effect among Variables in Model in Terms of Direct Effect 1) Confirmatory factors of IQ had direct effect to IPC and BEH 0.24 and 0.25. Moreover, model IQ had indirect effect to BEH with statistically significant at level of 0.01 with effect of 0.16. 2) Confirmatory factors of AQ had direct effect to IPC and BEH with statistically significant at level of 0.01 with effect of 0.32 and 0.29. Moreover, confirmatory factors in aspect of AQ had indirect effect to BEH with statistically significant at level of 0.01 with effect of 0.21. 62

3) Confirmatory factors of EE had direct effect to IPC and BEH with statistically significant at level of 0.01 with effect of 0.49 and 0.45. Moreover, confirmatory factors in aspect of EE had indirect effect to BEH with no statistically significant at level of 0.01 with effect of 0.32. 4) Confirmatory factors of IPC had direct effect BEH with statistically significant at level of 0.01 with effect of 0.66. 5) Considering on structural model confirmatory factors of IQ, AQ, and EE were able to explain the variation of endogenous factors of IPC to cause BEH with 93.00 percents as following in Equation (1). Consequently, confirmatory factors of EE, IQ, and AQ, were able to explain the variation of confirmatory factors of IPC with 87.00 percents. Therefore, the Equation can be written as following Equation (2). Conclusion The results was revealed that confirmatory factors of Intelligence Quotient (IQ) had direct effect to Environmental Behaviors for Global Warming Alleviation (BEH) with statistically significant at level of 0.01 with effect of 0.25, and had indirect effect to Environmental Behaviors for Global Warming Alleviation (BEH) with statistically significant at level of 0.01 with effect of 0.16. Furthermore, Intelligence Quotient (IQ) had direct effect to Inspiration of Public Consciousness (IPC) with statistically significant at level of 0.01 with effect of 0.24 Therefore, it is evidently that Intelligence Quotient (IQ) Conceptual Creation (X1), Talent Expression (X2) and Relationship Perception (X3) affecting to Environmental Behavior for Global Warming Alleviation (BEH) through Inspiration of Public Consciousness (IPC) composing of Person as Role Model (Y7), Impressive Event (Y8), Impressive Environment (Y9), and Media Receiving (Y10), therefore the results of this study are harmonious to various studies of Thiengkamol and her [22][23] [25] [26] [29] [34] [36] [37] [35] [39] [40]. Simultaneously, the results was revealed that confirmatory factors of Adversity Quotient (AQ) had direct effect to Environmental Behaviors for Global Warming Alleviation (BEH) with statistically significant at level of 0.01 with effect of 0.29, and had indirect effect to Environmental Behaviors for Global Warming Alleviation (BEH) with statistically significant at level of 0.01 with effect of 0.21. Furthermore, Adversity Quotient (AQ) had direct effect to Inspiration of Public Consciousness (IPC) with statistically significant at level of 0.01 with effect of 0.32. Therefore, it is clearly seen that Adversity Quotient (AQ) composing of Personal Challenge (X4), Family Challenge (X5) and Social Challenge (X6) affecting to Environmental Behavior for Global Warming Alleviation (BEH) through Inspiration of Public Consciousness (IPC) composing of Person as Role Model (Y7), Impressive Event (Y8), Impressive Environment (Y9), and Media Receiving (Y10), therefore the results of this study are harmonious to various studies of Thiengkamol and her colleagues ([23] [24] [25] [26] [29] [33] [34] [36] [38] [39]. The exogenous factors of Intelligence Quotient (IQ), Adversity Quotient (AQ) and Environmental Education (EE) were able to explain the variation of endogenous factors of Inspiration of Public Consciousness (IPC) to caused Environmental Behaviors for Global Warming Alleviation (BEH) with 93.00 percents. Moreover, Environmental Education (EE) had direct effect to Environmental Behaviors for Global Warming Alleviation (BEH) with statistically significant at level of 0.01 with effect of 0.45, and had indirect effect to Environmental Behaviors for Global Warming Alleviation (BEH) with statistically significant at level of 0.01 with effect of 0.32. Furthermore, Environmental Education (EE) had direct effect to Inspiration of Public Consciousness (IPC) with statistically significant at level of 0.01 with effect of 0.49. Therefore, it is clearly seen that Environmental Education (EE) composing of Knowledge and Understanding (X7), Environmental Awareness (X8), Environmental Attitude (X9), Environmental Skill (X10), Environmental Participation (X11), and Environmental Evaluation (X12) affecting to Environmental Behavior for Global Warming Alleviation (BEH) through Inspiration of Public Consciousness (IPC) composing of Person as Role Model (Y7), Impressive Event (Y8), Impressive Environment (Y9), and Media Receiving (Y10), therefore the results of this study are harmonious to various studies of Thiengkamol and her ([22] [23] [25] [26] [29] [33] [34] [36] [37] [38] [39]. The model of IQ, AQ and EE affecting to BEH through IPC was verified the proposed model was fitted with all observe variables according to criteria of Chi-Square value differs from zero with no statistical significant at 0.05 level or Chi-Square/df value with lesser or equal to 5, P-value with no statistical significant at 0.05 level and RMSEA (Root Mean Square Error Approximation) value with lesser than 0.05 including index level of model congruent value, GFI (Goodness of Fit Index) and index level of model congruent value, AGFI (Adjust Goodness of Fit Index) between 0.90-1.00. Therefore, it might be concluded that IQ, AQ and EE play very important roles to create the environmental behavior of consumption behavior, energy conservation, waste management, travelling behavior, recycling behavior, and knowledge transferring and supporting for environmental conservation, therefore Four Nobel Truths should be reintroduced again in the school. However, IQ and AQ are significant factors for undergraduate students to have environmental conservation behavior for global warming alleviation through public consciousness to meet sustainable development.
