Coverage As at 31 December 2012 S&P Capital IQ distributed research on a variety of asset classes including 8,517 stocks, 22,700 mutual funds listed on United States of America (U.S.) stock exchanges and 752 exchange-traded funds (ETF) listed on U.S. stock exchanges. The coverage selection principles for research reports that may be distributed by S&P Capital IQ Australia include the following: 1. Stock Reports (Qualitative): The principal criteria for the qualitative stock coverage selection include securities of companies that comprise leading market indices, market capitalization, trading activity and general investor interest. Further information on this coverage selection criteria can be found in the S&P Capital IQ Research Objectivity Policy available at www. standardandpoors.com/regulatory-affairs/equity-research/en/ap 2. Stock Reports (Quantitative): The quantitative stock reports rely on the market information available on the security to calculate the quantitative components needed. Therefore the security needs to be listed on a major exchange for S&P Capital IQ to be able to generate the report. 3. ETF and Mutual Fund Reports: Research on ETFs and mutual funds is currently limited to the U.S. market. These reports rely on the market information available on the security or underlying securities to calculate the quantitative components needed. Therefore the security or underlying security needs to be listed on a major exchange for S&P Capital IQ to be able to generate the report. S&P Capital IQ does not provide research on money market mutual funds or specialty mutual funds. 4. Trade Detector Reports: Trade Detector Reports are limited to the S&P 500. A security may be the subject of a Trade Detector Report due to various factors which include, but are not limited to, companies are on the lists of recommended stocks that are published monthly, earnings reports, changes to dividends, share buybacks or share price movement compared to the target price or consensus estimate. In certain circumstances, coverage may also be initiated as a result of a contractual relationship with an issuer of the financial product or unaffiliated financial intermediary for whom S&P Capital IQ agrees to provide research reports for use by the issuer of the financial product or the unaffiliated financial intermediary and for distribution to the unaffiliated financial intermediary s clients. Investment Warnings S&P Capital IQ Australia provides general advice about financial products that may be accessed by wholesale and retail clients. S&P Capital IQ Australia financial product research and analysis includes statements of opinion, not statements of fact. Investors should make themselves aware of additional warnings included in specific financial product research reports and analysis. Financial product research and analysis and the information contained in financial product reports is of a general nature and has been prepared without taking into account the particular financial needs, circumstances or objectives of any person. S&P Capital IQ Australia recommends that investors seek independent expert financial advice from persons qualified to provide investment advice in the relevant territory before making any investment decision. Past performance is not necessarily a good guide to the future performance of a security or investment. S&P Capital IQ Australia Financial Services Guide 3
