TRANSPORT Getting to Latrobe City With dual lane freeway access, Latrobe City is well connected and only a short 90 minute drive from Melbourne. V/Line operates hourly passenger train services between Latrobe City and Melbourne. Latrobe City has three main train stations, Traralgon, Morwell and Moe. TOURISM IN LATROBE CITY Walhalla Historical Township Nestled deep in a pretty valley of Victoria s Mountain Rivers region is Walhalla Historic Township, once a bustling gold mining town. Tours of the Long Mine Extended Mine provide an appreciation of times past and authentic buildings, artefacts and cemetery tell of how life was. The spectacular local scenery can be fully appreciated while riding the Goldfields Railway as it winds its way over the Thomson River. WALHALLA TOWNSHIP Tarra Bulga National Park The park is located in south-eastern Victoria s Strzelecki Ranges, one of only four major areas of cool temperature rainforest in the state. Tarra Bulga is a popular picnic spot with facilities provided at the Bulga picnic area, Tarra Valley picnic area and at the Visitors Centre. The rainforest is full of song birds so keep an eye out for the unique Lyrebird, Pilot bird, Crimson Rosella and Yellow Robin. Yellow tailed black Cockatoos may fly over with their creaking calls, but don t be fooled the Lyrebird is a clever mimic. Quite walkers might see the shy Lyrebird scratching the forest floor in search of food. There is a bush walk to suit everyone. Tarra Bulga National Park
