Hi Mr./Ms., my name is I am with State Farm calling you back with the insurance information you requested online, I just need to verify some basic information and I can provide that for you. (NO PAUSE) I have your address as is that correct? (Only verify the street, city and state) And your Date of Birth I have is, correct? And you indicated that (confirm lead details), is this accurate? Are you looking for just (lead type product or would you like to discuss options for (other insurance products)? O.k. great, how is your day treating so far? (Find common ground and start building rapport) Value Statement option #1 Real quick I want to tell you a little about myself, and the company I represent. I am appointed with State Farm and am a licensed agent and specifically in the state of (their state). I have gone through an extensive amount of training to get where I am. I wanted to mention that so you can be confident that I ll set you up with the best policy at the best possible price. I am sure you ll agree that when dealing with financial products, it s very important to have someone in your corner that s knowledgeable, right? OR Value Statement option #2 At this point I want to tell you a little about myself and the company I represent- I am appointed with State Farm, so this allows me some leeway in the open market with the top rated carrier in your state and get you the best product for the best price. I am sure you ll agree that when dealing with financial products that it s very important to have someone in your corner that s knowledgeable, right? Do you have any insurance policies currently in-force? (IF Yes) Is that through your work or an outside company? (If outside company) Are you considering replacing or adding to that policy? Let me ask you, what got you looking into insurance? (THIS IS a high level trigger question trying to find the REAL reason they started looking for insurance. Find out what life event sparked their interest ie. New baby or home, death in the family and so on - don t lead the witness!) Next I am going to ask you some quick lifestyle questions, remember I am on your team so answer the questions the best you can and it will help us get you set up with the best price. What I mean is that some carriers are more competitive with certain conditions, age groups and so on. First lets start with your driving history- Have you had any tickets or accidents in the past 2 years? How about any DUI s in the past 5 years? (If applicable) How about tobacco use, have you ever smoked or chewed tobacco? (If applicable) Now a little about your health. Do you have any major health conditions such as Cancer, HIV, etc Ok how about high blood pressure or cholesterol or Diabetes or anything like that? What medications are you currently taking? (If applicable) How about your family history, does your immediate family, such as siblings, mom or dad, have a history of cancer or heart conditions? Do you have any dangerous hobbies like sky diving or alligator wrestling or anything like that? Ok great Is your occupation considered hazardous? What is your current occupation? And your official job title? What s your annual income? Last questions I have is, do you have any insurance applications pending? O.k. great this should be enough information to allow me to provide you with a preliminary price range. The price I provide is what I believe the insurance company will place your premium at to insure you for $ (talk in millions: quarter million/half million and so on). Keep in mind that as an agent I provide pricing based on of the information you give me and based off of my understanding of the underwriting guidelines of the carrier. The insurance company, after they get your results and you finalize the underwriting process, will then come back with what is called a final offer. That is why I will provide you with a price range. Does that make sense? While I am pulling up your price I see we have a couple products that I think will fit your needs- (now you can drill down on what they really need) (The below A or B closes are examples with out me fully understanding your product. You are the experts in your product line - You will need to come up with A or B close that provide value to your products.) First is our product. This is a great product because (insert value statement and why it matches this consumer) The second option is. A benefit of this policy is that it (insert value statement and why it matches this consumer) Again both are completive priced products so of the two which of the policy type fits you best? After the sale, do some consumer education that will help you retain them by educating them about price shopping and building a relationship. Spend at least 5 minutes talking about: o o o o Prices are set and regulated by law. You aren t giving anyone else something that they aren t getting. Agents don t set the price so if they get a call or hear of 1 mill for $20 a month, it s either a different product or an 18 year old in good health. The difference between a quote and an offer.
