About my conference What is a conference? A conference is a meeting of people who are worried that you might not be safe. The people who come to the conference come because they know you or they can help you to be safe. Who goes to my conference? Your parents or the person who looks after you may be there, and those working with you or your family such as your social worker, your teacher or school nurse may be there. Other people you have not met before could also be there. Your social worker will explain who will be coming. Your social worker will tell you more about the conference and how, if you want to you can come. Draw pictures of the people who will attend your conference

How to use this pack Step 1 Your social worker will tell you about your conference and why it is happening. They will let you know how important it is that you have your say. This pack helps you to do that. Your social worker will explain what's in the pack, how to use it and help you to fill it in. Step 2 You and your social worker will work together to fill in the pack as best you can. There are no right or wrong answers. You can write things down or you can draw pictures and tell your social worker what they mean. If you want you can ask your social worker to write things down for you. The things you draw or write down will be given to the person in charge of the conference (the reviewing officer) and they will make sure that the people at the conference, including your parents or carers, know what you think. The only people who will see your pack are you, your social worker and the reviewing officer. Your social worker will look after the pack when you are not using it. Step 3 When the conference is over, the person you asked for will tell you what happened, what decisions were made and what happens next. They will also tell you more about what the people at the conference said needed to happen. The reviewing officer will write down for you what they said. This is for you to keep in your folder and you can look at it when you need to. Your social worker will also keep a copy.

Sometimes adults don't know what change or how to change it - you can help them by writing down your ideas about what they can do to make things better. You don't have to fill them all in. I need to My mum My dad

Letting you know what happened The reviewing officer will write down what was decided at the conference. It is important that someone who attends your conference/review tells you what happened and what decisions were made. You need to tell us who that should be. After my conference/review, I want to tell me what was decided and what is happening next. At the end of my conference/review it was decided that:- reviewing officer comments
