This Financial Services Guide ( FSG ) is intended to inform you of certain basic matters relating to our relationship, prior to us providing you with a financial service. It is intended that this FSG should assist you in determining whether to use any of the services described below. You should also be aware that you are entitled to receive a Statement of Advice or Financial Plan whenever we provide you with any advice which takes into account your objectives, financial situation and needs. The Statement of Advice will contain the advice, the basis on which it is given, information about fees and disclosures, which may have influenced the provision of the advice. In the event we make a recommendation to acquire a particular financial product (other than securities) we must also provide you with a Product Disclosure Statement. This should contain information about the particular product, which will enable you to make an informed decision in relation to the acquisition of that product, the basis on which it is given and information about fees and charges. Staff Profiles DEBORAH A ROGNLIEN Deborah Rognlien is a Certified Financial Planner and the principal of FinancialCare TM Group Pty Ltd. She has a Bachelor of Science & Master of Science Degree from the University of Wisconsin, Madison USA. She completed her Diploma of Financial Planning and has been a Certified Financial Planner since 1992. Deborah has been a financial planner and authorised representative for nineteen years. She has conducted numerous seminars for clients, the Australian Stock Exchange and contributed to the Sunday Herald Sun - Your Money column for several years. Deborah spent several years developing a financial planning division in a boutique stockbroking firm. She is the Managing Director and the co-ordinator of the Financial Planning team and oversees the professional development program for all Authorised Representatives and the client services system. NICOLA L HENLEY Nicola has been with FinancialCare TM Group Pty Ltd since 1998, progressing from a support staff member and para-planner prior to her current position as an Authorised Representative. She has a dual sign off with the Senior Financial Planner, upon completion of the financial planning reports. Nicola has completed several units and received exemptions for the Diploma of Financial Planning. She has also completed her Bachelor of Business degree majoring in Financial Planning and is now commencing study for the Certified Financial Planner designation. KARL A HUSS Karl Huss holds Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Political and Social Studies from Sweden, with major studies in economics and statistics. Apart from a prior, long career in higher education administration he spent seven years as a private client adviser at a Melbourne based stock broking company. Whilst his particular strength is in equity linked investments in which area he conducts research for our Company, Karl is well equipped to assist our clients in meeting their broader financial planning needs. He completed further studies at RMIT University to gain Authorised Representative status and has now been a fully qualified financial planner with our company since 2003. Who will be my adviser? See above Adviser Details What kind of financial services are you authorised to provide and what kinds of products do those services relate to? Our central role is to provide personalised advice related to financial strategies and products aimed at meeting the needs of individuals, families and small businesses. In terms of financial products we cover: Basic Deposit Products Government Debentures Stocks or Bonds Investment Life Insurance Products Risk Insurance Products Managed Investment Products including Investor Directed Portfolio Service Retirement Savings Account Products (RSA) Products (within the meaning of the Retirement Savings Account Act 1997) Securities Superannuation We provide advice and reviews on existing or anticipated financial situations relating to; education expenses, taxation planning, estate planning including the loss of a loved one, home loan repayment strategies, investment properties, marriage dissolution problems, DIY Superannuation strategies and DIY Pension strategies. We offer a portfolio monitoring service as part of our client care service program. We also offer specialised advice should you wish us to only address one or more selected issues. If so, you would be required to sign a Specialised Service Agreement, but we would still need to collate comprehensive details as regards your financial circumstances. Who do you act for when you provide financial services to me? FinancialCare TM Group Pty Ltd holds an Australian Financial Services Licence and is also authorised to act as a life insurance Agent. The life companies we hold agencies with are responsible for any life insurance advice provided to you. (Agency details can be provided upon request.) Your Experience as a Client Above we have told you what we are technically licensed to do. Now here is what that means for you. Initial Advice When you first come to see us, we will ask you for as much information about you and your family as we need to give you advice. We will also help you to define your financial objectives so that we can agree on the context of our advice. We will then examine your options and prepare our advice in a written document called a Statement of Advice. This initial advice is designed to examine all of your present arrangements and advise whether you need to make any changes to re-position, so that you can use your financial resources efficiently towards achieving your goals. We will also advise you on what you need to do moving forward, so that you can reach your objectives. Once we have agreed on the way forward, we will then implement any changes that are needed. Continuing Advice If you have chosen to sign a Service Agreement with us we will provide you with ongoing service. This service will include at least one annual review of your overall financial position and the strategies we have in place for you. We will also review your investment portfolio and advise on any adjustments we deem desirable. You will also have access to us for any queries or matters you believe need our attention. The emphasis is on developing our professional relationship with a view to our assisting you to meet your current and changing financial needs, now and in to the future. When You Get Our Advice How will I pay for the service? STAGE ONE We provide a Statement of Advice, at a fee to be agreed upon at the initial meeting. This fee will vary with the complexity of your situation and is based on an hourly rate. It includes our presenting and explaining the report to you, including carrying out minor modifications to it, within reason. However, we do reserve the right to impose an extra time based charge should you provide additional information at this stage, beyond what you had given us prior to the preparation of the report. STAGE TWO Should you wish to proceed with the implementation of the recommendations in the report we will quote you a time based fee for the work involved in activating the recommendations. STAGE THREE There is an ongoing pro-active service program provided, based on the value of your investments, at a tiered fee as in the following table, but subject to a minimum cost of $1,980 per annum: $0 - $500,000 @ 1.10% $500,001 - $1,000,000 @ 0.83% Above $1,000,000 @ 0.55% Anyone wishing to join the service program would need to sign a formal Service Agreement, which document defines the details of what is included in the service program. Work additional to the provisions within the Service Agreement is charged on the basis of time taken. Do you receive remuneration, commission, fees or other benefits in relation to providing the financial services to me and how is that commission calculated? We charge a fee for service agreed with you. We do not accept any commissions, trails or other forms of benefit from any organisation with whom we place your investments, unless specifically detailed to you in writing ahead of effecting any investments. Our fees are as detailed above. You have the right to full disclosure of payments and other benefits your adviser receives for recommending investments. We will provide this information to you in our report when we make specific recommendations. Do any relationships or associations exist which may influence you in providing me with the financial services? No. We have no relationships or associations with any related parties or product issuer that will influence our decision-making. We do, however, have Agency Agreements with a number of Life Companies and we are able to choose the product to suit the client (details can be provided on request). Should any such relationship or association arise we will advise you in our Statement of Advice. Will you give me advice which is suitable to my investment needs and financial circumstances? Yes. But to do so we need to establish your needs, individual objectives and overall personal, financial situation, before we recommend any strategies, services or investments for you. You have the right not to divulge this information to us if you do not wish to do so. In that case, we are required to warn you about the possible consequences of us not having your full information. You should read the warnings carefully. What should I know about any risks of the financial products or strategies you recommend to me? What information do you maintain in my file and can I examine my file? We maintain a record of your personal profile which includes details of your investment objectives, personal financial situation and needs. We also maintain records of any recommendations made to you. We are committed to implementing and promoting a privacy policy, which will ensure the privacy and security of your personal information. If you wish to examine your file, you should ask us, and we will make arrangements for you to do so. Can I provide you with instructions and tell you how I wish to instruct you to buy or sell investments or other financial products? Yes. You may specify how you would like to give us instructions, however, we require your signed instruction before we effect any buy or sell order. If You Have Any Complaints Who can I complain to if I have a complaint about the provision of the financial services to me? Our membership of the Financial Industry Complaints Service (FICS) will be transferred to the new Financial Ombudsman Service Limited as from 1 st July 2008. If you have any complaint about the service provided to you, you should take the following steps:- 1. Contact your adviser and tell your adviser about your complaint. 2. If your complaint is not satisfactorily resolved within three days, please contact our Compliance Officer or put your complaint in writing and send it to us at PO Box 11010, Frankston, Vic, 3199. We will endeavour to resolve your complaint quickly and fairly. 3. If the complaint cannot be resolved to your satisfaction you have the right to complain to the Financial Ombudsman Service Limited. They may be contacted on 1300 780 808. This service is provided to you free of charge. If your concerns involve ethical conduct you may wish to consider raising these in writing with the Financial Planning Association of Australia Ltd. If you still do not get a satisfactory outcome you can contact the Australian Securities & Investment Commission (ASIC) on their Freecall Infoline 1300 300 630.
