All Scholarship Applicants must: SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION GUIDELINES 2014 1) Be a resident of Mecklenburg County and a graduating high school student enrolled in a Mecklenburg County school (public or private) o Note: Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Debutantes are ineligible for chapter sponsored scholarships. 2) Submit a completed application packet with the following information: o A completed, typed and signed Application Form o Two current signed letters of recommendation: One letter must be from a teacher or school official One letter must be from an adult (e.g. an employer, minister, etc.) Letters from relatives are not o o eligible. Recommendation letters should include the length of time the reference has known the applicant and in what capacity, applicant s strengths and weaknesses, and why the reference believes the applicant deserves the scholarship. The letters of recommendation must be original versions, signed by each of the writers and each placed in a sealed envelope by the writer (photo copies, faxes and electronic submissions are not acceptable). An official school transcript: Official transcript must be in the original, sealed envelope from the school. It should contain a certification seal or stamp by the school. Any opened envelope with a transcript will not be accepted. In addition to all high school grades, transcript must include the applicant s first semester grades for his/her senior year. A typewritten essay: (See Part IV of the application for details and essay topics) 3) Mail a completed typewritten application along with attachments, sealed official transcript, and letters of recommendations to: CAC- Scholarship Committee P.O.
