ROTARY INTERNATIONAL RYE Rotary Youth Exchange What it means to be an Exchange Student RYE LTEP Italian National Orientation Meeting Fognano(RA), September 27 th 2013 Andrea Cremoncini Chairman, RYE Italian multidistrict
What are you doing now: You have chosen to live in another Country This means accepting the Challenge of facing a new, different reality. A Different Language Different Habits, Culture, Ways of life. ARE YOU READY?
What does it mean: We usually live in our everyday COMFORT AREA Our Comfort Area is the one where we know well what to do, we do almost the same things every day, and we experience new things only once in a while This means that we take few risks, and therefore our probability to fail is always low When we exit our comfort area, we see and experience new things, but we are also exposed to some risk We can be successful, but we also may fail
What are the implications: When we leave our Comfort Area we need to face new situations, which force us to try new behaviors and new solutions to everyday problems: Studying at school is much different in another country, and not only for the language. It is difficult to understand what people say Sometimes I get meal that I do not know What do young people like me do here? How can I make new friends? And many other similar questions
Why should you do it: Critical situations are the ones where you must stop acting only on the basis of habits and past experience, and YOU ARE FORCED TO THINK This means experimenting new solutions and strategies, and THROW YOURSELF INTO THE GAME This also means that you WILL LEARN SOMETHING NEW,, and will have the opportunity to become a different person: Stronger, More Confident, More expert and Knowledgeable
Doing it with Rotary: Means that you are always immersed in a new, stimulating and challenging environment, but you are never going to be left alone THIS ORIENTATION MEETING IS FOR YOU! During this weekend, our intent is to provide you with: Useful hints to live your experience at best A set of reference points and contact information Some rules to avoid excessive risks or problems A full load of Enthusiasm for your Exchange Year!!!
NOW you are here!
Be ready to Chase Your dreams... I HAVE A DREAM
Tonight, also learn a Magic Spell : SHINE...
Living with great inspiration... Actually, who are you not to be? You are a Child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There s nothing enlightened about shrinking, so that other people won t feel insecure around you. We all are meant to SHINE, as children do.
We were born to manifest the Glory of God, that is within us. It s not just in some of us, it s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine,, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.
You have been selected, trained, prepared for this You have the potential... SHINE!!! We want you to fully deploy your capabilities Together, we can make a better World Start NOW.

Also: Always remember that what is different, strange, unknown and may seem weird or hostile is just Interesting and trying to understand itis is the main way to Learn Something NEW
