Long Beach City College provides students with an instructional program in higher education that may culminate in a Certificate of Achievement, a Certificate of Accomplishment, an Associate in Arts or an Associate in Science Degree, an Associate in Arts for Transfer or an Associate in Science for Transfer which prepares students for transfer to a four year university or college. Certificate (Achievement or Accomplishment) and/or Associate Degrees are offered in the fields of concentration on the following list(s). The requirements for each field of concentration are listed on the curriculum guides available in the Counseling Center at the Liberal Arts and Pacific Coast campuses as well as the LBCC Catalog or online at: http://www.lbcc.edu/articulation/. In addition, a Curriculum Guide may be developed to meet the educational need of individual students that would include two or more appropriately related subject areas. Such an alternate plan requires the approval of the appropriate instructional dean and the Office of School and College Relations. The notations used in the following table are: A.A/A.S.= Associate Degree Two-year college degree awarded by Long Beach City College which includes general education courses and a major (AA=1000/AS=2000). AA-T/AS-T = Associate Degrees for Transfer (Associate in Arts for Transfer/Associate in Science for Transfer Transfer degree programs that guarantee admission into like majors at the CSU for all students that complete the requirements for the particular major (AA-T/AS-T= CSUGE= 5000B; IGETC= 5000C). C-ACH= Certificate of Achievement One to two year programs in occupational/technical areas at Long Beach City College which provide training in job skills and employment opportunities (C-ACH=3000). C-ACC= Certificate of Accomplishment A certificate of Accomplishment certifies a competency in a given area and requires 18 units or less (C-ACC=4000). C-COMP= Certificate of Completion Is a certificate based on hours of instruction rather than credit and lead to improved employability or job opportunities (C-COMP=4000).
