UNIVERSITY OF LINCOLN JOB DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE DEPARTMENT LOCATION College Marketing, Intelligence & Recruitment Officer College of Arts Brayford Campus JOB NUMBER MHT001 GRADE 6 DATE December 2015 REPORTS TO Pro Vice Chancellor/Head of College CONTEXT The College Marketing & Recruitment Officer will report directly to the Pro Vice Chancellor. S/he will also play a key role in the development and subsequent implementation of the university s strategic marketing plan and will, therefore, work closely with the University s Corporate Marketing Team (MARCOMS). JOB PURPOSE This post is situated within the College of Arts but the job holder will work closely with the Communications, Development and Marketing Department of the University of Lincoln. The post holder will support the development of a proactive and exciting marketing strategy for the College of Arts, contributing to the College achievement of recruitment and income objectives. The post holder will facilitate excellent relationships with academic staff across the College and be an important link between the College and the Central Marketing Team. The post holder will develop a specific knowledge of the College of Arts and its stakeholders including schools, government and media. The post holder will positively support the objectives of the University, including increasing recruitment, profile raising and building the reputation in the UK and overseas across our portfolio. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Public Relations and Communications Work closely with the Head of College and Heads of School to engage academics with the marketing and recruitment agenda and objectives of the University. Build excellent relationships with academic staff and engage them in College and University marketing and recruitment activities, explaining positively the benefits and opportunities of engagement. Produce communications materials for the College of Arts and deliver promotional material to support the College Degree Shows. Use media expertise to work with the central PR team to produce media plans to raise the profile and build the reputation of specific Schools and individuals within the College. Contribute to internal communications for the University by providing relevant messages from and about the College of Arts to the Staff and Student Communications team. Manage College social media activity alongside the Online Media Intern. Events Work closely with the Central Events Team to deliver undergraduates open days. Manage the representation of the College at open days and liaise with academics to ensure appropriate workshops and representation. Manage and deliver postgraduate open days for the College of Arts. Manage and deliver applicant open days for the College of Arts. Support and manage the delivery of College of Arts related public events and launches. Work closely with the Central Schools and Colleges Liaison team and engage academic staff from the College to develop and deliver a programme of events and visits for and to schools including master classes, summer schools, weekend workshops and special activities. Attend the events and give presentations at external schools and colleges. Manage and deliver external recruitment events such as UCAS and Design/Compose Your Future. Alumni and Fundraising Work closely with the central Alumni Officer to deliver a core set of activities for College of Arts Alumni. Work closely with the central Development Officer to support in the identification of fundraising opportunities for the College of Arts. Conversion Manage a conversion campaign strategy for the College and ensure that there are regular mailings, events, multi-media and other communications tools tailored to programmes to maximise conversion to undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. Review and report on the success of all campaigns and make recommendations for future activity. Work closely with the Market Research Officer to build market knowledge and disseminate information to staff in the College of Arts. International Recruitment Work closely with the International Office and academic Programme Leaders to facilitate effective recruitment of international students. Represent the College for occasional cover at International Recruitment events. In addition to the above, undertake such duties as may reasonably be requested and that are commensurate with the nature and grade of the post. Page 3 of 6
