1 INTRODUCTION The Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) is one of the leading scientific research and technology development organisations in Africa. In partnership with national and international research and technology institutions, CSIR undertakes directed and multidisciplinary research and technology innovation that contributes to the improvement of the quality of life of South Africans. The CSIR s main site is in Pretoria while it is represented in other provinces of South Africa through regional offices. The CSIR Information Services (CSIRIS) provides library and information management services to the organisation. The objective of this RFP is to replace the current Integrated Library Management System (III Innovative s Millennium Integrated Library Management System). 2 BACKGROUND CSIR Information Services (CSIRIS) has been informed that the Library Management System (LMS) that is currently shared with the University of Pretoria, (III Millennium), will not be supported after September 2016. CSIRIS therefore wishes to replace the shared LMS with a system that would provide similar and better functionality and that would be able to support the CSIR head office and the branch libraries in Durban and Stellenbosch. The current user base is approximately 2000 users. Administrative users are no more than ten (10). CSIR Request for Proposal Page 3 of 14
