Califonia National Univesity CNU offes Bachelo and Maste of Science in Engineeing degees with electives in compute, electical, envionmental, quality, and mechanical engineeing, as well as a Bachelo of Compute Science and a Maste of Engineeing Management degee. College of Engineeing Ou undegaduate pogams highlight the basic sciences and geneal engineeing couses to help students evolve into well-ounded enginees with stengths in the aea of his/he elective choice. In ou gaduate pogams, students and faculty wok closely togethe to choose a sub-discipline that complements the wok envionment fo eal-wold application. Fo example, a compute engineeing student could specialize in micopocessos o switching theoy; an electical engineeing student could specialize in electonics powe distibution, contol systems, o communications; an envionmental engineeing student could specialize in hazadous waste management, tanspot phenomena, o ai pollution contol; a mechanical engineeing student could specialize in themodynamics o mechanical design; and a compute science student could specialize in advanced compute achitectue o pogamming languages. Gaduates ae expected to possess sufficient knowledge to achieve pofessional cetification. CNU's Online Campus* delives high quality academic pogams with the flexibility and pesonalized suppot you need to achieve you education goals without compomising wok and family esponsibilities. With a compute, intenet, and e-mail access, you can paticipate in you online classoom anytime, fom anywhee. Complete and submit assignments online. Communicate with pofessos in one-on-one inteactions fo feedback and suppot fom an expet in the field. Engage with vitual classmates though theaded discussion foums to enich you leaning. CNU puts you in contol of you leaning. Califonia National Univesity Bachelo of Compute Science DEGREE PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS A High School Diploma o GED equivalent is equied fo admission. Applicants to the Bachelo of Compute Science degee pogam ae expected to have a backgound in algeba, plane geomety, tigonomety, physics and chemisty. If an applicant lacks this backgound, peequisite couses will be assigned fom the CNU Basic Sciences Cuiculum. The Bachelo of Compute Science cuiculum is designed to povide a fomal body of knowledge fo students inteested in caees in the eve evolving compute industy. The cuiculum includes a foundation in basic sciences, which includes couses elated to both softwae and hadwae fundamentals, and selected electives to allow students to specialize in aeas of thei inteest. BCS PROGRAM OBJECTIVES: An undestanding of the math and science skills equied by the compute science pofessional. An undestanding of the fundamentals of softwae and hadwae design. An ability to pogam effectively in at least one high level language. An undestanding of opeating systems and pinciples elated to netwoks. The Bachelo of Compute Science degee pogam equies satisfactoy completion of 121 units of academic wok with a cumulative GPA of 2.0 o bette in the following aeas: Geneal Education Basic Sciences Compute Science Coe Compute Science Electives Capstone Poject TOTAL 30 units (lowe division) 25 o 26 units (lowe division) 45 units (lowe/uppe division) 30 units (uppe division) 3 units (uppe division) 121 units Couses ae offeed in a systematic manne, i.e., whee applicable, peequisites will be completed befoe the student can enoll in subsequent highlevel offeings. An ability to apply knowledge leaned in cousewok to a Capstone Poject elated to the student s aea of inteest.
Bachelo of Compute Science Geneal Education 30 units (Lowe division) Students pusuing a Bachelo of Compute Science degee must complete a beadth equiement of 30 Geneal Education units. Students may elect to take the College-Level Examination Pogam (CLEP) exams to meet this equiement instead of o in combination with couses. Students have the option to fulfill geneal education equiements by choosing couses elated to the following subject aeas: 1. Communications (witten/oal) 2. Computation (quantitative easoning/concepts) 3. Social Science (histoy, sociology, economics, and politics) 4. Compute Technology & Pactice 5. Humanities (liteatue, philosophy, language, cultue, the ats) 6. Life/Physical Sciences basic sciences 25 26 units (Lowe division) The Bachelo of Compute Science equies a stong foundation in mathematics and science. Applicants needing additional pepaation in mathematics pio to taking Calculus I will be assigned peequisite couses fom CNU s cuiculum and/o placement exams. Compute science Coe 45 units (Lowe/Uppe division) The Compute Science coe and elective couses consist of a mixtue of guided instuction and lab fomats. Laboatoy couses in Compute Science ae those couses in which the majoity of time is spent witing and using softwae on a pesonal compute. You will need to acquie access to a PC o Macintosh compute capable of suppoting a pogamming language envionment such as C o Visual Basic. Intenet access and an e-mail addess ae equied. Compute Science Electives 18 units (Uppe division) Elective Aeas Compute Engineeing Compute Science Capstone Poject 3 units (Uppe division) In addition, a Capstone Poject is equied which begins with an appoved poposal on a elevant and cuent subject. The Capstone Poject should demonstate the student s ability to apply the pinciples of Compute Science to a pactical poblem. The Capstone Poject will entail one timeste of wok equiing 4 hous of pacticum pe week fo 15 weeks and culminate in a fomal epot.
