Online Service More safety for your engines

MAN Diesel Online Service In the present-day globally-networked economy, rapid transmission of information plays a decisive role, particularly in the field of transportation. Thanks to effective information transmission via the internet, MAN Diesel can transmit important engine and installation information throughout the world, can evaluate it and make available the know-how of the OEM experts in real time. This high-performance Online-Service" provides rapid troubleshooting and fault resolution, particularly efficient maintenance of the engines and thus high levels of plant availability. MAN Diesel Online Service encompasses the following services: Monthly Reporting Online Diagnosis and Troubleshooting Online Service Advantages Functions >> Faster troubleshooting and fault elimination >> Improved support for the operating personnel >> Higher levels of plant safety and reliability >> Higher levels of availability >> Cost reduction >> Clear, easily understood documentation >> Optimum operating and maintenance support >> Analysis, evaluation and graphical display of operating values and trends by the manufacturer >> Guided fault analysis >> Various different transfer facilities for the listed operating data >> Software support and maintenance >> Software updates >> Life-long trend and backup of operating data 2

Online Service Online Diagnosis and Troubleshooting Online support by our OEM specialists In the event of a fault, the Online-Service-Team gets engaged in the plant and has the facility for transmitting all the fault-relevant data to our specialists in Augsburg. This method not only saves you time, but you also save the costs of an on-site diagnosis. Advantages >> Increased availability of plants as a result of the most rapid reaction times >> Cost savings as a result of on-site analysis In many cases, the problem can be solved directly on site by your operating personnel with the help of our Online Troubleshooting facility supported online by "Remote Access", "Chat Fenster" and telephone. This allows the MAN Specialists all over the world to see exactly the same monitoring data as the plant operator sees on his local diagnostic system. This means that you save in three ways: There are no costs for the deployment of additional experts, spare parts can be sent off more quickly and the standstill times are reduced considerably. In this way the Online Diagnosis and Troubleshooting ensures higher levels of availability of the engine plant. Performance characteristics >> Data transmission and analysis only in the event of a fault >> Problem solution by Online Troubleshooting >> Direct data evaluation and engine monitoring by Remote Access 3

Continuous Reporting Online Performance Analysis More safety as a result of evaluation Your engine data Advantages Using our Continuous Reporting the engine data is transmitted to MAN Diesel at regular intervals and tested exactly matched to your requirements. The data is evaluated by MAN specialists. From these evaluations we produce regular overviews for you concerning the operating condition of your engine plant. This provides you with a long-term overview of your engine plant and an optimised view and representation of the operating values. In the event of extraordinary engine applications, or upon request, you will receive a detailed event-focussed evaluation. >> More plant security against possible faults as a result of the best possible monitoring and early warning service Performance characteristics >> Graphical representation and evaluation of operating conditions >> Backup facility for the plant values with long-term history >> Support for continuous optimisation of the engine operation 4

Online Service Condition Based Maintenance (CBM) Maintenance according to conditions and requirements Using Condition Based Maintenance we support you directly with your maintenance schedule planning. To do this we manually evaluate the data transmitted and, over long-term trends, using software support. In this way we can adapt the maintenance intervals individually to your plant and environmental conditions. This optimisation ensures that the maintence is particularly long-lasting reducing costs and guaranteeing high levels of availability. Condition Based Maintenance also includes, in addition to Continuous Reporting, Spot Checks on Components together with regular operating, coolant and lubricant analyses. Advantages >> Cost-savings by adaptation of the maintenance intervals to your specific operating conditions Performance characteristics >> Suppoort for maintenance schedule planning and spare parts procurement >> Detailed expert opinion concerning the condition of your engine plant >> Operating data analysis and evaluation >> Consumables and ancillary consumables analysis and evaluation Perfectly made-to-measure maintenance intervals, depending upon the application 5

Marine and Power plant Both on the ocean waves and on land in most cases there is already an evaluation of the engine operating data on the plant. Since 2000 all MAN engines have been fitted with an integrated data interface, which can be upgraded to a complete local system for engine diagnosis. If Online Access is facilitated via this data interface, all the engine operating data and additional information is made available to our experts for analysis. Added Value Process Data Acquistion Logging Online Access Data Transmission Online Service Know How OEM Expert A "Remote Box" - special hardware - must be installed for the transmission of the engine operating data to MAN Diesel. This transmits the operating data either at prescribed intervals, by access by MAN or by access by the plant operator via a secure internet connection. This secure connection ensures maximum data security and excludes access by third parties completely. Online Service Optimization The performance components of Online Service On modern plants, whether marine or power station, it is generally possible to use existing telecommunications installations and to thus reduce the investment costs. We would be pleased to check the individual conditions and requirements of your plant and to advise you concerning technical implementation. 6

In combination with a Remote Box and a modem, encrypted data is transmitted to the relevant receiver station via the telecommunication system and then sent to the MAN Diesel Online Service. Most plants have a modern internet broadband connection which can be used for Online Access. If this is not available it is also possible to create a modem connection via a normal telephone connection. 7
