Growing and Protecting Your Retirement Income HD Lifetime Income and Spousal HD Lifetime Income offer guaranteed income growth that can help increase your income for retirement, whether the markets are up or down. Daily Step-Up Opportunities. HD Lifetime Income monitors your annuity on a daily basis. The benefit captures your annuity s highest day and grows that value at an annual 5% compounded rate until you begin taking income (Lifetime Withdrawals). These gains are locked in 100% of the time for income purposes and are never given back. Even if markets go down, this income growth is guaranteed. Protected Withdrawal Value: The Basis for Your Retirement Income. The sum of your highest locked-in amount, plus the 5% compounded growth, is your Protected Withdrawal Value. This value becomes the basis for calculating your Annual Income Amount and your Lifetime Withdrawals in retirement. And remember, even if your account value declines, your Protected Withdrawal Value is always locked in and growing until your first Lifetime Withdrawal. It s important to note that the Protected Withdrawal Value is separate from your account value and not available as a lump sum. A Guarantee of Double Your Initial Protected Withdrawal Value. With HD Lifetime Income and Spousal HD Lifetime Income, you also have a minimum guarantee, assuming you ve owned the benefit for 12 years and have not yet started taking Lifetime Withdrawals. Your Protected Withdrawal Value is guaranteed to be at least double (200%) your account value at benefit election if you ve owned the benefit for 12 years. This value would then become your new minimum basis for Lifetime Withdrawals even if the market declines during the 12-year period. All references to account value assume no investment in any available Market Value Adjustment Options. Please see the prospectus for more information. 4 of 16
This line is the Protected Withdrawal Value (PWV), your basis for guaranteed lifetime income in retirement. You may begin taking Lifetime Withdrawals at any time. HD Lifetime Income will lock in your highest days whenever they occur, and grow them at 5% until your first Lifetime Withdrawal. You purchase an annuity with HD Lifetime Income. Account Value You also have a minimum guarantee Let s say your initial purchase payment is $100,000. If you defer taking withdrawals, your Protected Withdrawal Value will be at least: Initial purchase payment $100,000 After 12 years: 200% = $200,000 The hypothetical examples above are for illustrative purposes only. They do not reflect a specific annuity, an actual account value or the performance of any investment. 5 of 16
Creating Predictable Income How HD Lifetime Income Can Generate Income for Life. Okay, let s fast forward to the point where you ve decided to retire. It s now time to put your benefit to work creating lifetime income. This income is guaranteed through Lifetime Withdrawals. These withdrawals can begin at any time and will continue for as long as you live. If you ve elected Spousal HD Lifetime Income, Lifetime Withdrawals will continue for as long as you or your spouse live. An annuity with HD Lifetime Income provides guaranteed Lifetime Withdrawals based on a percentage of your Protected Withdrawal Value. You can determine how often you take your Lifetime Withdrawals (i.e., monthly, quarterly, annually). Withdrawals come from your account value. But if your account value declines, or eventually even goes to zero, your Lifetime Withdrawals will continue for the remainder of your life.* Withdrawals and distributions of taxable amounts are subject to ordinary income tax and, if made prior to age 59 1 2, may be subject to an additional 10% federal income tax penalty. * Withdrawals or surrenders may be subject to contingent deferred sales charges. Withdrawals, other than from IRAs or employer retirement plans, are deemed to be gains out first for tax purposes. Withdrawals can reduce the account value and the living and death benefits. If an excess withdrawal is taken, it may reduce your account value to zero and no further amount would be payable under the benefit. (Please see page 15 for more information.) 6 of 16
How Much Income Will You Receive? If the adage holds true that things get better with age, then HD Lifetime Income and Spousal HD Lifetime Income are no exception. Your Annual Income Amount is based on a percentage of your Protected Withdrawal Value depending on your age when Lifetime Withdrawals begin. The longer you wait to begin Lifetime Withdrawals, the greater your Annual Income Amount will be. Below are the age-based income percentages for both HD Lifetime Income and Spousal HD Lifetime Income. Age HD Lifetime Income* Spousal HD Lifetime Income* 45-54 55 - less than 59½ 59½ - 84 85+ Withdrawal Percentage 3.0% 4.0% 5.0% 6.0% Withdrawal Percentage 2.5% 3.5% 4.5% 5.5% * HD Lifetime Income withdrawal percentages are based on the age of the annuitant at first Lifetime Withdrawal. Spousal HD Lifetime Income withdrawal percentages are based on the age of the younger spouse at first Lifetime Withdrawal. Access to Your Annuity if You Need It. Before Lifetime Withdrawals begin, you have the flexibility to take one Non-Lifetime Withdrawal that will not interrupt the daily step-ups or the 5% compounded growth of your Protected Withdrawal Value. A Non-Lifetime Withdrawal will proportionally reduce your benefit guarantees by the percentage the withdrawal represents of the current account value. Please see withdrawal disclosure on page 6. Step-Ups Are Possible Even after Income Begins. HD Lifetime Income and Spousal HD Lifetime Income provide the opportunity to continue locking in your highest day, even after you begin taking Lifetime Withdrawals. Each year, at your contract s anniversary and after the first Lifetime Withdrawal, the benefit will look back at your highest daily account value for the previous year (adjusted for any subsequent purchase payments and withdrawals) and multiply that value by the income percentage applicable to your current age. If this value is greater than your current Annual Income Amount, it will automatically be locked in as your new Annual Income Amount going forward and you can elect to receive the greater Lifetime Withdrawals. It is important to understand that after you begin taking Lifetime Withdrawals, your Annual Income Amount will not automatically step up simply because you reach a new age-based income percentage. The possibility of a step-up occurring after Lifetime Withdrawals begin is dependent upon the performance of the underlying subaccounts as well as the difference between your account value and Protected Withdrawal Value. After Lifetime Withdrawals begin, if your Protected Withdrawal Value is significantly higher than your account value, a step-up is less likely to occur. Please note that upon step-up, the fees may be higher. 7 of 16
How We Manage Your Guarantee At Prudential Annuities, we pride ourselves on being an innovator in guaranteed income solutions for retirement. That spirit of innovation is also reflected in our approach to managing your guarantee. When you elect HD Lifetime Income or Spousal HD Lifetime Income, your annuity will be monitored on a daily basis by a predetermined mathematical formula. This formula helps us manage your guarantee through all market cycles by determining if funds should be transferred into or out of the AST Investment Grade Bond Portfolio ( Bond Portfolio ). The primary driver of transfers to and from the Bond Portfolio is the difference between your actual account value and your Protected Withdrawal Value. Therefore, during periods when your annuity s performance is poor, the formula determines if account value should be transferred from your chosen investment options to the Bond Portfolio. When your annuity s performance improves, the formula then determines if a portion of account value should be transferred back to your chosen investment options. The specific amounts transferred depend on factors unique to your individual annuity, including the length of time you ve owned the benefit and the amount you have invested. Also factored in are any additional purchase payments made (including any associated purchase credits) and any withdrawals taken from the annuity. For more details on how your guarantee is managed, refer to page 14. Transfers Are Unique to Your Annuity. A portion of your Account Value 8 of 16

It does not reflect a specific annuity, an actual account value or the performance of any investment. Highest Daily Lifetime Income with Lifetime Income Accelerator is not long-term care insurance and should not be purchased as a substitute for long-term care insurance. The income you receive through the Lifetime Income Accelerator may be used for any purpose, and it may or may not be sufficient to address expenses you may incur for long-term care. Frequently Asked Questions How do we manage your guarantee? Highest Daily Lifetime Income and Spousal Highest Daily Lifetime Income use a predetermined mathematical formula to help manage your guarantee through all market cycles. Each business day, the formula determines if any portion of the account value needs to be transferred into or out of the AST Investment Grade Bond Portfolio (the Bond Portfolio ). Amounts transferred by the formula depend on a number of factors unique to your individual annuity and include: (i) The difference between the account value and the Protected Withdrawal Value; (ii) How long you have owned Highest Daily Lifetime Income or Spousal Highest Daily Lifetime Income; (iii) The amount invested in, and the performance of, the permitted subaccounts; (iv) The amount invested in, and the performance of, the Bond Portfolio; and (v) The impact of additional purchase payments made to and withdrawals taken from the annuity. Therefore, at any given time, some, most, or none of the account value may be allocated to the Bond Portfolio. Transfers to and from the Bond Portfolio do not impact any income guarantees that have already been locked in. The Protected Withdrawal Value is separate from the account value and not available as a lump sum. Any amounts invested in the Bond Portfolio will affect your ability to participate in a subsequent market recovery within the permitted subaccounts. Conversely, the account value may be higher at the beginning of the market recovery; e.g., more of the account value may have been protected from decline and volatility than it otherwise would have been had the benefit not been elected. Please note: You may not allocate purchase payments or transfer account value into or out of the Bond Portfolio. See the prospectus for complete details. Fixed income investments are subject to risk, including credit and interest rate risk. Because of these risks, a subaccount s share value may fluctuate. If interest rates rise, bond prices usually decline. If interest rates decline, bond prices usually increase. How will I be notified when amounts are transferred to and from the Bond Portfolio? You will receive a confirmation statement indicating that a transfer of a portion of your account value either to or from the Bond Portfolio has taken place. Confirmation statements may be obtained electronically (subject to broker/dealer restrictions). What information about the benefit will be reflected on my quarterly statement? Before taking income: You will see, as of the statement date, your estimated Protected Withdrawal Value and estimated Annual Income Amount. Also, you will see your minimum 200% guarantee and the guarantee date. After taking income: You will see your total Annual Income Amount as well as your remaining Annual Income Amount for the current annuity year. Please ask your financial professional for a copy of the HD Lifetime Income Sample Annuity Statement for more information. What happens if I pass away while owning HD Lifetime Income or Spousal HD Lifetime Income? HD Lifetime Income terminates upon the death of the annuitant. With Spousal HD Lifetime Income, the benefit remains intact even if one spouse passes away. The Protected Withdrawal Value will continue to grow until the surviving spouse begins taking Lifetime Withdrawals. If you ve already started taking Lifetime Withdrawals, income payments can continue to the surviving spouse, and only terminate upon his/her death. If Lifetime Withdrawals have not begun, Spousal HD Lifetime Income terminates automatically upon the death of the second spouse. Your death benefit will be equal to the greater of: 1. The minimum death benefit under the annuity; or 2. The amount of any optional death benefit you may have elected and that remains in effect In the event that withdrawals reduce the account value to zero, or if you decide to annuitize the contract, no death benefit will be payable under the annuity contract. 14 of 16
How do withdrawals affect the benefits? Non-Lifetime Withdrawals You are allowed a one-time Non-Lifetime Withdrawal which will proportionally reduce all benefit guarantees by the percentage the withdrawal represents of the current account value immediately prior to the withdrawal. You must inform us if your withdrawal is intended to be the Non-Lifetime Withdrawal, otherwise, the first withdrawal you make will be considered a Lifetime Withdrawal which will establish your Protected Withdrawal Value and Annual Income Amount. Lifetime Withdrawals Lifetime Withdrawals are taken on a pro-rata basis from all investment options. Any Lifetime Withdrawals less than or equal to your Annual Income Amount will reduce the Protected Withdrawal Value and the Annual Income Amount in that annuity year by the amount of the withdrawal (dollar-for-dollar). Excess Withdrawals An excess withdrawal occurs when your cumulative Lifetime Withdrawals exceed your Annual Income Amount in any annuity year. If an excess withdrawal is taken, only the portion of the Lifetime Withdrawal that exceeds the remaining Annual Income Amount will proportionally reduce your Protected Withdrawal Value and your Annual Income Amount for future years. If a withdrawal in excess of the Annual Income Amount reduces the account value to zero, no further amount would be payable under either benefit and the contract terminates. Required Minimum Distributions For qualified annuities,* if the first withdrawal from your annuity is taken to satisfy a Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) it will be considered a Lifetime Withdrawal unless designated as a Non-Lifetime Withdrawal. Lifetime Withdrawals that exceed the Annual Income Amount, but which you are required to take as a Required Minimum Distribution from your annuity are not treated as excess withdrawals and will not reduce the Annual Income Amount for future years. A RMD taken as a Non-Lifetime Withdrawal will reduce your benefit guarantees as described above. What happens if I make additional purchase payments to my annuity after electing the benefit? Prior to your first Lifetime Withdrawal, additional purchase payments and associated purchase credits will increase the Protected Withdrawal Value dollar-for-dollar by the amount of the purchase payment. Any additional purchase payments (and any purchase credits) made within 12 months after benefit election will be added to the minimum guarantee as follows: 200% (12 years after benefit election). For any purchase payments made more than 12 months after benefit election, the minimum guarantee will be increased by the amount of the purchase payment plus any applicable purchase credits. After your first Lifetime Withdrawal, additional purchase payments will increase the Annual Income Amount by the income percentage established at the time of your first Lifetime Withdrawal. Will I be required to begin receiving annuity payments under the benefits? While you are not required to receive annuity payments under HD Lifetime Income or Spousal HD Lifetime Income, once the latest annuity date is reached under the terms of the annuity contract (generally age 95 of the oldest of any owner and annuitant), you must elect to begin receiving annuity payments. The owner may elect to continue to receive the Annual Income Amount under the benefits through a series of annuity payments over the annuitant s life, or choose from any of the other available annuity payout options. * Prudential Annuities does not provide tax, accounting, or legal advice. Please consult your own attorney or accountant. Because qualified retirement plans, IRAs and variable annuities offer a tax-deferral feature, you should carefully consider the other features, benefits, risks, and costs associated with a variable annuity before purchasing one in either a qualified plan or an IRA. Before purchasing a variable annuity you should take full advantage of your 401(k) and other qualified plans. 15 of 16
