Writing Books The Software Project Manager s Bridge to Agility Lonely Planet s Travel Guides Prior to Scrum, the development of a book was very sequential and required many hand-offs and took a long a time to get a book out from conception to publication. Now they involve all players needed to put a book together (writers, graphic artists, desktop publishing, marketing, editors etc) and incrementally develop the book chapter by chapter following the Scrum framework. And One That Sure Looks Agile: 6 Days to Air: The Making of South Park Each episode is written, recorded, animated and delivered in just six days One scene at a time instead of serial handoffs from storyboard to character design to background design to editorial to audio 28
Trey Parker, co-creator of South Park: 6 Days to Air: The Making of South Park I always feel like that I wish I had another day with this show. That s the reason that there s so many episodes of South Park we re able to get done, cause there just is a deadline and you can t keep going. Cause there d be so many shows where I d be going no it s not ready yet, it s not ready yet, and I would have spent four weeks on one show. All you do is start secondguessing yourself and rewriting stuff and it gets over-thought, and it would have only been 5% better. 29
