In Questions 12-16 (Page 7), you will select the Flood Risk Reduction Rebate(s) that you wish to apply for. Below is a description of the 5 eligible flood risk rebate items that you can review before proceeding. If you remain unsure of the rebates that could apply to your property, municipal staff will be able to provide guidance during the initial on-site visit. Item 1 - Downspout disconnection (with plugging of connection to sanitary sewer) and re-routing to surface drainage or other suitable outlet This rebate item applies to properties where downspouts flow down into the ground and flow directly into the home's foundation drain. If the foundation drain is connected to the home's sanitary sewer lateral, unwanted storm water is entering the City's sanitary sewer network and contributing to sewer backups. Also, downspouts that do not currently discharge to the surface and at least one metre away from your foundation are also in contravention of City Sewer Construction By-Law 001-2000. The available subsidy is the lesser of $100 or 80% of eligible costs. The City may, at its discretion, disallow other rebates (items 2 to 5) if downspouts remain connected (or are suspected of being connected) to the sanitary sewer. Page 3 of 8

Item 2 - Certified backwater valve (home interior) installation This rebate can be applied to the cost of having a certified backwater valve installed in your home's interior. An interior backwater valve would be installed into your basement's floor in a location closest to where the sewer exits your home. This backwater valve, when properly installed and maintained, will help to prevent sewer backups in your basement. The available subsidy is the lesser of $500 or 80% of eligible costs. Homeowners are also encouraged to undertake item 4 as well, to reduce the risk of a possible self-flooding condition. Item 3 - Certified backwater valve (home exterior) installation This rebate can be applied to the cost of having a certified backwater valve installed outside of your home. A backwater valve is installed outside of your home and retrofitted onto your home's sanitary sewer lateral. This backwater type of valve, when properly installed and maintained, will help to prevent sewer backups from entering your basement as well as your home's foundation drain. Page 4 of 8

Item 3 - Certified backwater valve (home exterior) installation The available subsidy is the lesser of $1,000 or 80% of eligible costs. Homeowners are also encouraged to undertake item 4 as well, to reduce the risk of a possible self-flooding condition. Item 4 - Foundation drain disconnection This rebate can be applied to the cost of having your foundation drain disconnected from the sanitary sewer and either re-routing the foundation drain to a sump pit with sump pump or re-directing to a new storm sewer outlet. The costs of the sump pit/pump and storm sewer outlet also count towards this item. The available subsidy is the lesser of $2,000 or 80% of eligible costs. Page 5 of 8

Item 5 - Lot grading improvements: This rebate can be applied to the cost of having the lot grading improved around your home. This will help to shed water away from your home's foundation and keep it out of your foundation drain. The available subsidy is the lesser of $500 or 80% of eligible costs. Please continue to next page to select the rebate item(s) that you wish to apply for. Page 6 of 8

12. Are you applying for Item 1 downspout disconnection rebate? Downspout disconnection (with plugging of connection to sanitary sewer) and re-routing to surface drainage or other suitable outlet. The available subsidy is the lesser of $100 or 80% of eligible costs. The City may, at its discretion, disallow other rebates (items 2 to 5) if downspouts remain connected (or are suspected of being connected) to the sanitary sewer. 13. Are you applying for Item 2 backwater valve (home interior) installation rebate? Certified backwater valve (home interior) installation. The available subsidy is the lesser of $500 or 80% of eligible costs. Homeowners are also encouraged to undertake item 4 as well, to reduce the risk of a possible self-flooding condition. 14. Are you applying for Item 3 backwater valve (home exterior) installation rebate? Certified backwater valve (home exterior) installation. The available subsidy is the lesser of $1,000 or 80% of eligible costs. Homeowners are also encouraged to undertake item 4 as well, to reduce the risk of a possible self-flooding condition. Page 7 of 8

15. Are you applying for Item 4 foundation drain disconnection from sanitary sewer rebate? Foundation drain disconnection from sanitary sewer and either re-routing to sump pit with sump pump installation and surface discharge, or re-directing outlet to storm sewer. The available subsidy is the lesser of $2,000 or 80% of eligible costs. 16. Are you applying for Item 5 lot grading improvement rebate? Lot grading improvements (shed water away from the foundation). The available subsidy is the lesser of $500 or 80% of eligible costs. 17. Have you already completed some or most of the eligible flood risk reduction work?, I have already started or completed rebate eligible flood proofing work, I have completed some flood proofing work, but am unsure whether it is eligible for the rebate, I have not started any rebate eligible flood proofing work.
