1 Introduction VMware vsphere Hypervisor is the new name of the product formerly known as VMware ESX Single Server (often abbreviated to "VMware ESXi"). For interaction with software for monitoring and management tasks, VMware vsphere Hypervisor now features CIM providers, which contain standards for system management. With the help of these CIM providers, it is possible to monitor VMware vsphere Hypervisor-based servers in ServerView Operations Manager. These servers are then displayed in the server list of ServerView Operations Manager as a special group. The status of the CIM providers for the server node of the VMware vsphere Hypervisor-based server is also shown in the list. The CIM providers are on the one hand integrated in the ESXi system image and can already be installed as part of the initial installation of VMware. But they can also be installed and updated later. To do this, use the ServerView ESXi CIM providers, which are a component of the ServerView Suite. These CIM providers are available via an offline bundle containing the vib file (vshere Installation Bundle file). The offline bundle is available: Via the download area of the Fujitsu Technology Solutions Web server: http://ts.fujitsu.com/support Via the ServerView Suite DVD 1. Supported systems ServerView ESXi CIM providers are available for various systems. A list of supported systems can be found on the ServerView Suite DVD 1 under ServerView Agents and Providers Supported Systems or in the directory SVSSoftware Software ServerView Linux CIM_Providers VMware_ESXi primlist.htm. Introduction 1.1 Further information The manual "Monitoring ESXi systems with ServerView" explains how to monitor a VMware ESXi server with ServerView and describes the necessary installation and configuration steps. The manual "Monitoring VMware based PRIMERGY servers with ServerView" explains how to monitor a VMware vsphere Hypervisor server with ServerView and the help of CIM providers, and describes the necessary installation and configuration steps. 6 Installation ServerView ESXi CIM Provider
