What is Income Protection? Income Protection is a monthly payment that replaces 75% of your income should you suffer sickness or injury and be unable to work. More importantly, Income Protection can pay you up until you return to work (after the waiting period), or if you can t return, for the longer term until you reach age 60, up to a maximum benefit of $2 million. It guarantees a minimum payment so your family know how much you will be paid, going forward. CommInsure Aviation Cover Income Protection is currently the only income protection product available to pilots that provides benefits up to age 60.
Why do I need CommInsure Aviation Cover Income Protection if I already have Loss of Licence Protection? CommInsure Aviation Cover Income Protection complements VLF Loss of Licence Protection. It can: Pay a monthly benefit of 75% of salary to age 60, up to a maximum benefit of $2m. Have a waiting period of between 1 month and 2 years. For example, it can be designed to activate after 24 months, when the VLF temporary Loss of Licence benefits cease. VLF Loss of Licence Protection safeguards member pilots in the event their Class 1 Pilot Medical is temporarily suspended or permanently cancelled. CommInsure Aviation Cover monthly payments will not offset the VLF permanent disability payments.
Why take Income Protection facilitated through VIPA? Income Protection protects you over the long term by guaranteeing you and your family an ongoing salary.
