The amount of electricity you use is measured in and priced by kilowatt-hours (kwh). Each kwh of electricity is actually,000 watts of electricity used continuously for one hour. APPLIANCE USAGE CHART The average monthly kwh usage in the following charts was developed by New York State utilities and approved by the New York State Public Service Commission. THE FIGURES ARE ONLY ESTIMATES. Your actual usage may vary depending on the size of your family, the age and size of a particular appliance, how often it is used, and the efficiency of the appliance. If you do not elect to choose another supplier, Central Hudson will purchase the energy on your behalf. Because Central Hudson no longer owns the power plants where electricity is produced, we cannot control the price our customers pay for the electricity to the extent we did in the past. We purchase electricity and natural gas on your behalf, and pass our supply cost along to you, without any markup or profit. While our delivery costs will remain stable, prices for the supply of electricity and natural gas will fluctuate, based on actual supply and demand. Television type, wattage and usage varies widely from household to household. Televisions also have what is called a standby load. That is the electricity that is used even when the television is not turned on. Supplied on the next page is some information pertaining to how much a television uses hourly and its standby usage based on the average wattage given.
