1 Javier Gimpel Postdoctoral Fellow at Centre for Biotechnology and Bioengineering, Universidad de Chile Summary PhD from the Mayfield Laboratory at the University of California, San Diego and the California Center for Algae Biotechnology. Expertise in complex genetic engineering of the chloroplast and nuclear genomes of microalgae for expressing recombinant therapeutic proteins, altering photosynthesis and improving biofuel production. Research field expanded further into photosynthesis molecular biology and biophysics by successful collaborations with the Dismukes Laboratory (Rutgers University, NJ) and the Kramer Laboratory (Michigan State University). PostDoc at Universidad Catolica de Valparaiso, Chile, while working in genetic engineering of commercial strains of microalgae. Currently a PostDoc at the Centre for Biotechnology and Bioengineering, Universidad de Chile. Ongoing research on macroalgae biomass processing with recombinant enzymes. Experience Postdoctoral Fellow at Universidad de Chile enero de Actualidad (7 meses) Developing molecular tools for the degradation of brown macroalgae Postdoctoral Fellow at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso julio de enero de 2015 (7 meses) Developing genetic engineering tools for commercial strains of algae (eg.
