8 Aventa Learning by K 12 Online Curriculum The Aventa curriculum includes high-quality, standardsbased online courses for middle and high school. Based on significant education research, the courses feature a rich multimedia format with interactive elements avatars, tutorials, whiteboard illustrations, manipulatives, practice games, videos to help keep students engaged and motivated to learn. These elements provide students opportunities to use visual, kinesthetic, and auditory learning methods. Animated tutorials help illustrate complex concepts more clearly. Unique Aventa avatars help establish connections between topics and real world applications. 8

Aventa courses can be hosted on virtually all major learning management systems, including Blackboard, Moodle, ecollege, Desire2Learn, and BrainHoney. You can maintain the relationship with a hosting provider on your end, or K 12 can host your courses for you. 13 K 12 Instruction Our teachers are extensively trained power users of the Aventa curriculum and technology. They are available to help you quickly fill a temporary position or provide a permanent online teaching solution. They will provide your students with high-quality instruction and support through online classroom settings, one-to-one feedback, and individualized assistance by phone, chat, and . With more than 900 state-certified teachers, we can fill gaps in teaching staff for: Low-enrollment courses Specialty electives Courses with teachers in short supply (e.g., AP Economics or Japanese) Sabbaticals or long-term absences K 12 Instruction is optional in the Aventa Partner Program. Professional Development K 12 has successfully trained more than 5,000 teachers through our comprehensive training program. Your teachers can receive training in this new instructional model and expand their skill set and potentially earn continuing education credits! We provide options for startup training for teachers who are new to the curriculum as well as ongoing professional development for all of our full-time online programs. For new teacher training, you can choose the format that works best for you: virtual asynchronous, virtual synchronous, or onsite training. Ongoing professional development is available in a synchronous online format. Throughout the year, your teachers also have access to open office hours to ask experienced K 12 teachers questions about instruction, tools, and more. Through individualized consultation with you, we ll cover every aspect of setting up and maintaining an online school program. We ll share insights on issues, best practices, and innovative ideas that we have assimilated from managing online schools in 32 states and the District of Columbia, and supporting more than 2,000 districts with online and blended learning solutions. You ll be able to tap into K 12 s expertise on: Administrator strategies, preparation, and resourcing such as day-today operations, use of data, plans for launch, semester transitions, and the school year ahead Program compliancy training covering attendance, how to count days, special education, audits, and state reporting Business development and management, including running an economically sound program, staffing to fit funding models, understanding invoices, and developing processes Operational launch planning, including pre-launch readiness, launch day support, transitions, planning meetings, and post-launch reviews Program Consulting is optional in the Aventa Partner Program. Our Client Services team offers virtual training sessions to help administrators become familiar with K 12 systems and share collective best practices. If you choose K 12 teachers to lead instruction, we also offer sessions for school mentors who support teachers and students. As part of the K 12 partnership, our Client Services team conducts regular account reviews to assess your program and make adjustments as needed. Online Plus Marketing If you need online marketing support and materials, plus some assistance for enrollment, Online Plus Marketing includes many of the tactics included in the Full-Service package, while your district steps in to handle in-person event support, enrollment follow-up, and other hands-on tactics. 17

18 Services Online Marketing This package is for districts that would like the same online marketing support and materials offered in the Online Plus Marketing package, but can handle the enrollment on their own. Personal Academic Liaison Support (PALS) This package is for districts that have resources to cover much of the online and offline marketing tactics, inbound call support, and enrollment, but would like K 12 to provide assistance with document processing and compliancy management.
