MANAGE YOUR PUBLISHERS There are two ways to manage publishers in the zanox marketplace. You can either search for attractive publishers and invite them to your programme, or you can manage publishers that have already applied to your programme. DAILY Find attractive publishers With the publisher directory, the zanox marketplace offers a powerful new tool that allows you to browse existing publishers on the network and invite publishers you want to work with to your programme: Go to Account Management > Publisher Management > Find Publishers to access the publisher directory. What is an AdRank? zanox measure for the commercial potential of publishers, advertisers, ad media, and many other business objects. The AdRank is dynamically calculated based on parameters such as turnover, conversion rate, confirmed leads/ sales, traffic, etc. The AdRank is calculated on a regular basis and can range between 0 (lowest AdRank) and 10 (highest AdRank). You can use the Search Publishers search box on the left hand side to search publishers by name or keyword. The keyword search also searches the publishers URLs. Below the search box you will find various filters that allow you to filter by partnership status, recently joined publishers, publishers with incomplete profiles, publisher verticals, and sales regions. The table in the main area of the Publisher Directory lists all publishers that match your search query. For each publisher you can see the publisher name, promotional type, AdRank, and number of accepted memberships. The main promotional types are Content, Display, and Search. The AdRank allows you to compare performance across publishers. zanox Ltd Advertiser Beginner s Guide Last updated 10/2014 Page 12

Top statistics Apart from the Reports menu, the dashboard also gives you a quick overview on the performance of your programme over the last 30 days. Right below the diagram shown on the dashboard, you can see your top statistics: your programme performance, your Top 5 publishers and your Top 5 tracking categories. zanox Ltd Advertiser Beginner s Guide Last updated 10/2014 Page 20

APPROVE SALES AND LEADS In order for publishers to be paid their commissions you will first need to approve the sales and leads they generated. Publishers rely on fast payment so please check your sales and leads on a regular basis and demonstrate to your publishers that you are a reliable payer. The average time it takes you to approve your sales and leads is shown to publishers as a key performance indicator (KPI) in the programme directory. DAILY Approve sales Navigate to Validation > Approve Sales to start approving your sales. Both the approval time and confirmation rate are visible to publishers as KPIs in the programme directory. Use the search bar on the left to find a specific sale. You can filter your search results by status, date and tracking category. The overview bar on the top of the page gives you a general overview of your sales and your account balance. The table of sales in the centre of the screen displays the sales matching your search criteria. Click on the plus sign in front of each row to display further information about the sales: zanox Ltd Advertiser Beginner s Guide Last updated 10/2014 Page 21

The row expands and displays further information about the selected sales: To approve, reopen or reject a sale please use the check box to select the sale, then use the Approve, Reopen or Reject button located on the top of the screen. Which status can a sale have? Open: Newly tracked sale Approve leads To approve, reopen or reject a lead, navigate to Validation > Approve Leads and proceed just as described in the section above. What to keep in mind when approving sales and leads? 1. You can only approve transactions with the status Open. 2. Approved and confirmed transactions cannot be revoked! 3. You can undo the status Rejected and set the transaction back to Open only once. You then have 72 hours to modify the transaction before it will be set to Approved. Approved: Genuine sale for which you want to reward your publisher Confirmed: If your zanox account is covered, the approved status will switch to confirmed and your publisher will be paid out. Rejected: Invalid sale. You may wish to reject sales because the order has been cancelled or the sale has already been tracked through a different channel. What is auto confirmation? Auto confirmation is a feature of the zanox User Interface which will automatically confirm leads/sales once they reach a certain age. The benefit of auto confirmation is that you will not need to manually confirm every single lead/sale. Instead, you only need to reject invalid leads/sales and leave the rest to be auto-confirmed automatically. The zanox standard auto confirmation period is 14 days for leads and 28 days for sales. Please note that the standard auto confirmation period can be changed or disabled. If you would like to change the period or disable auto confirmation please contact your zanox account manager. For automatic processing of leads and sales by your back-end system you can use the zanox ERP Client or the zanox ERP Web Services. Advertiser liability for approved leads and sales It is important to know that once a lead or sale has been approved/confirmed it cannot be rejected and you will be charged! zanox Ltd Advertiser Beginner s Guide Last updated 10/2014 Page 22

MANAGE YOUR AD MEDIA Quality ad media give publishers the tools to drive customers to your website, so be sure to provide compelling banners and links to drive increased conversion and higher sales. Advertisers with a diverse selection of current, updated ad media and promotions may be seen as more attractive than advertisers with a small or rarely updated link inventory. As a prerequisite, every advertiser in the zanox network needs to provide at least one text link to their homepage and a logo with a size of 120 x 60 pixels. REGULARLY To access Ad Media Management, navigate to Account Management > Manage Ad Media. Ad media types zanox supports the following types of ad media: For more information on managing ad media please refer to the zanox Ad Media Guide. Text Used to enter text links. Image Used for standard JPEG or GIF images. Image with text As above but with an option to have text displayed around the image. HTML Used to enter any HTML ad media (e.g. ad media, search forms, etc.) Script Used to enter any script ad media (e.g. Flash banners) zanox Ltd Advertiser Beginner s Guide Last updated 10/2014 Page 23

Upload and configure ad media To add new ad media click the Add new AdMedia button. This will bring you to a screen with several options which need to be completed to ensure that the ad media works correctly. The following compulsory configuration options (in bold) must be filled in: Link format Defines the size of your ad media. You can select any of the available standard banner sizes from the drop-down menu. However, if your ad media does not fit into this standard, you can select the option freestyle and manually add the dimensions in the Width and Height boxes. Link status Defines the status of your ad media. Available ad media statuses are Active, Inactive or Configure. Please note that the link status cannot be changed until the ad media has been added by pressing the Save button. Once the ad media is on the zanox system you can select Edit and change the link status. Link name Defines the name of the ad media. The name must be unique for the programme, i.e. you cannot have two ad media with the same name even if they are in different sub-categories. The link name is displayed to your publishers when they access the list of available ad media for your programme. Link category Defines the ad media category. Using this drop-down menu, you can move the ad media to different categories. Link target address (URL) Defines the target URL of the ad media. When an Internet user clicks on the banner they will be taken to the location outlined in this field, e.g. Image source (URL) Defines where the image is hosted, for example zanox Ltd Advertiser Beginner s Guide Last updated 10/2014 Page 24

Release ad media Newly created ad media must be released to make them visible to your publishers. Go to the list of your available ad media at the bottom of the Manage Ad Media page and find the ad media you want to release. Click Edit to edit the ad media configuration. Change the Link status option from Configure to Active. The traffic light displayed in the ad media list will change from yellow to green. HTML and script ad media including Flash banners, iframes and page peels must obtain clearance from the zanox Banner Team before they can be released to your publishers. To attain clearance, please send a list with ad media IDs for the relevant ad media to banner@ zanox.com. Clearance will take place within two working days. Deactivate ad media You can deactivate ad media at any time by setting the link status from Active to Configure or Inactive. The traffic light will change from green to yellow (for Configure ) or red (for Inactive ). Please inform your publishers about the deactivation of the ad media approximately three weeks in advance so they can remove the ad media from their websites. zanox Ltd Advertiser Beginner s Guide Last updated 10/2014 Page 25

MANAGE YOUR COMMISSIONS To access the Commission Management, navigate to Account Management > Manage Commission Models. The Commission Management is a powerful tool to manage commissions for different groups of publishers, campaigns, and promotions. REGULARLY The zanox Commission Management is based on the concept of Commission Models. A commission model defines specific static or dynamic commissions for views, clicks, leads and sales as well as for your user-defined leads and sales tracking categories. Each commission model can be assigned to different groups of publishers (e.g. standard publishers and premium publishers) and is allocated one or several validity periods. You can also assign partner-specific conditions to individual publishers. We recommend, however, that you set up commission models to be able to easily manage and administer your programme s commissions. What are static commissions? Static commission models allow you to define fixed commission rates for each sale, lead, click, and/or view a publisher generates. In addition, you can set different commission rates depending on the type of product that is purchased (via tracking categories that can be used for certain product groups for instance). Static commission models do not allow you to dynamically reward publishers for a higher performance. This means, each publisher receives the same commission for a sale regard- zanox Ltd Advertiser Beginner s Guide Last updated 10/2014 Page 26

less of whether a publisher generates 10 sales or 100 sales per month. To be able to dynamically reward high performance, use dynamic commission models. You can also easily turn a static commission model into a dynamic model with just a few clicks. Example for Static Commissions: Commission Model View Click Lead Sale Description Default website % Default for every publisher website. Default % Default for every publisher with e- mail advertising. No payment per click, but higher lead bonus. Bonus model % For high performance publishers. CPC model 0.15 Conditions for CPC publishers. CPM model For portals that want to calculate earnings using CPM. What are dynamic commissions? Dynamic commission models work just like static commissions, but in addition, they allow you to automatically reward publishers for a higher performance. Within a dynamic commission model you can define up to four performance levels. Every time a publisher reaches a new performance level, the publisher is automatically assigned higher commissions. The four available performance levels are called Level 0 (Base Value), Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3. Please note that you don t have to define all four levels when using a dynamic commission model if you don t need them. Which dynamic rules exist? Dynamic rules define the conditions by which publisher performance is measured. Currently, the following dynamic rule exists: Total number of sales This rule defines performance by the total number of sales a publisher generates within 30 days. The dynamic rule also includes rejected sales. Example of dynamic commissions based on the four available performance levels: For less than 50 sales within the last 30 days the commission is 10% (Level 0) For >= sales within the last 30 days the commission is 15% (Level 1) For >= sales within the last 30 days the commission is 20% (Level 2) For >= 120 sales within the last 30 days the commission is 25% (Level 3) The current dynamic rule refers to the total number of sales only. It is up to you whether you only want to define different commission levels for the sales, or whether you also want to define dynamic commissions for views, clicks and/or leads. I.e. when a publisher reaches the next commission level based on their total number of sales, you can also decide to reward them with higher commissions for their clicks or leads. zanox Ltd Advertiser Beginner s Guide Last updated 10/2014 Page 27

You can also assign partner-specific conditions to individual publishers. We recommend, however, that you set up commission models to be able to easily manage and administer your programme s commissions. Creating a new commission model 1. Click Create new commission model. You will be directed to a new screen where you can create your new commission model: 2. Enter a name for the commission model; decide whether the model should be visible to all publishers or not by activating / deactivating the public checkbox, and set the model to active if you want to activate it straight away. Optionally, you can enter Your own notes. Your notes will be displayed on the commission models overview page right below the name of each model. 3. Click Create. The Create New Commissions dialog opens. Here, you can select the commission model type (dynamic or static). 4. Again, click on Create. The Edit mode opens. zanox Ltd Advertiser Beginner s Guide Last updated 10/2014 Page 28

5. Enter a start and end date for your new commissions. By doing so you are creating a commission validity period within your new commission model. Be careful! If you don t already have valid commissions in place at the current date, you can set the start date to today (pre-set). This means the commissions will be valid immediately after saving and cannot be changed on the same day! Be careful not to accidently activate your new commissions by selecting today as a start date! 6. Assign commission values to the transaction types and product categories you want to use. Uncheck those product categories for which you don t want to define specific commissions. Depending on the commission model type, enter dynamic commissions for different performance levels or assign standard commissions. If you want to assign dynamic commissions, you need to define the different performance levels (Level 1, 2, and 3). The current rule that applies to dynamic commission is the total number of sales for the last 30 days, including rejected sales). For each level, enter the number of sales a publisher must generate or exceed (during the last 30 days) to be assigned to that level. 7. Click on Save. You have successfully created you new commission model. Your new commission model is now displayed in the list of available commission models and can be assigned to individual publishers and/or groups. Assigning publishers to commission models In order to assign publishers to your commission model(s), go to Account Management in the main navigation bar and select Manage Publishers. Batch-assigning several publishers to a commission model: 1. In the Applications / Partner table, select the publishers you want to assign to a commission model by activating the check box in the Selection column. 2. Scroll to the very bottom to batch-assign several publishers to a commission model. Under Assign to commission model select the desired commission model and click on Execute. Assign individual publishers to a commission model: 1. In the Applications / Partner table, select the publisher you want to assign to a commission model and click on the publisher s name next to the little screen icon. The Partner information page of the selected publisher opens. 2. Under New commission model you can select the commission model you want to assign and enter a start date for the assignment. 3. Click on Save at the very bottom. zanox Ltd Advertiser Beginner s Guide Last updated 10/2014 Page 29

Changing an existing commission model Select a commission model from the list of available commission models and click Edit. If you want to change the commissions but have an active Commission Model in place, click on New Commissions to define a set of new commissions. The Create New Commissions dialog opens. Select whether you want to create static or dynamic commissions and click on Create. Define a start date for the new commissions which must lie at least three days in the future. Assign new commission values to the transaction types and product categories you want to use. Uncheck those product categories for which you don t want to define specific commissions. Depending on the commission model type, enter dynamic commissions for different performance levels or assign standard commissions. Deleting a commission model Please note: A changed commission model will become active at 0:00 a.m. on the third day after submitting the changes. You will not be allowed to select an earlier date. Please keep in mind to notify your publishers of the changes. Example: An advertiser wants to change a commission model on 27 August. The earliest end date the advertiser can define is 30 August. The new commission model will become active at 0:00 a.m. on 30 August. Commission Models with a future start date can be deleted. To delete a Commission Model, go to the respective Commission Model on the overview page and click Delete. Please note that currently active commission models (i.e. models with a start date that already lies in the past or is today) cannot be deleted! They can be set to inactive though. And you can change the end-date (and define new commissions for the following validity period). 32 GLOSSARY OF TERMS A Ad space Online space used by a publisher for displaying the advertiser s ad media. Ad spaces can be websites, blogs, portals, etc. Ad space verification Process through which publishers verify ownership of an ad space by including a meta tag or uploading a HTML file to the site. Ad space verification is used by advertisers to identify high-quality publishers. Advertiser In performance advertising, advertiser is the term used for an advertising company that advertises its products or services by means of a partner programme through a performance advertising network, such as zanox. The advertiser provides the publishers (sales affiliates) with the required ad media (e.g. banners, product lists) to enable optimum advertising and defines the commissions publishers will earn for each generated sale or lead. Affiliate network An affiliate network provides a third party service to advertisers and publishers. The network provides tracking, reporting and payment services and allows advertiser access to a large publisher base. Networks generate performance based revenue by charging the advertiser a fee on top of the publisher commissions. B Banner ad Advertising message of the advertiser which is delivered to the internet user via the ad space of a publisher. Other types of advertisements can be text links, pop-ups, videos, or product data. They contain tracking links which redirect the visitor to the advertiser s online shop. If a visitor generates a sale in the advertiser s shop, zanox uses the tracking link to identify the publisher that helped generate the transaction and will receive a commission from the advertiser. zanox Ltd Advertiser Beginner s Guide Last updated 10/2014 Page 32

C Commission If an Internet user registers for an advertiser s newsletter via an ad on a publisher s website, purchases a product in the advertisers s online shop or completes a contract, the publisher receives a commission from the advertiser. As independent network provider, zanox automatically logs, credits and transfers the commission to the publisher s account on a monthly basis. I Industry Industry segment in which an advertiser is predominantly active. In the zanox network, the following four main industries exist: Retail & Shopping, Travel, Telco & Services, Financial Services L Lead A lead is information that may be used to provide a sale later on. This is normally a request for a quote, the ordering of a brochure or registering for a newsletter. In performance advertising, the advertiser pays a commission to the publisher whose website generated the lead. P Performance advertising Form of online advertising which is based on partnerships between advertisers and publishers. Publishers operate websites where they place banners and links that market the products and services of an advertiser. If an internet visitor clicks on a banner or link and purchases a product in the advertiser s online shop, registers for a newsletter or submits a contact form, the publishers receives a commission from the advertiser. Commissions will only be paid in the event of successful performance, i.e. if the publisher helped to generate a sale or lead. zanox Ltd Advertiser Beginner s Guide Last updated 10/2014 Page 33

Programme Advertisers use programmes to promote their products and services in the zanox network. Publishers who are affiliated to the programme put the programme s banners and links onto their websites in order to market the programme s products and to redirect consumers to the advertiser s website. The publisher receives a commission by the advertiser for different types of generated transactions, e.g. leads or sales. Programme Directory Directory in the zanox marketplace which lists all available programmes on the network and displays their key performance indicators (KPIs). Publishers can browse the Programme Directory for interesting programmes and can interact with advertisers. Publisher Partner in the zanox performance advertising network. Publishers run ad spaces on which they place banners and links to earn commission. In the zanox network a publisher applies with one or multiple ad spaces to an advertiser s programme. S Sale A customer s purchase on the advertiser s website for which the advertiser pays a commission to the publisher. A sale cam be rewarded with either a fixed amount commission or a percentage of the purchase price. V Vertical Affiliate marketing sector in which a publisher is predominantly active.
