1 UNIVERSITY OF DAYTON COMMENCEMENT EXERCISES Saturday December 19, 2015 CANDIDATES FOR GRADUATION MUST BE AT THE UNIVERSITY OF DAYTON ARENA BY 9:00 A.M. GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS TO ALL GRADUATES 1. Arrive at the arena by 9:00 a.m. on the morning of commencement. Obtain a commencement program as soon as you arrive. They will be available as you enter the arena. The program will assist you in finding your correct place in line. Do not bring large personal items. There are no storage facilities at the arena and you will not be permitted carry such items with you. 2. ASSEMBLY IN THE ARENA: See the diagram and layout on the following pages for where you will assemble. Go immediately to your assembly area (under Sections ) when you get to the arena and get in your assigned row. There will be signs that indicate your College/School and your degree (bachelor/master s, PhD). Note the Colleges and Schools at the University of Dayton in alphabetical order are: A. College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) B. School of Business Administration (SBA) C. School of Education and Health Sciences (SEHS) D. School of Engineering (SoE) 3. Special Note for Undergraduate Dual Degrees: If you will be receiving two degrees, the procedure is for you to sit in the section that you indicated to the Office of the Registrar. When you greet President Dan Curran, your second degree will be announced. You will receive one folder from Provost Paul Benson. Upon request from the Registrar s office, an additional folder will be mailed to you via regular postal services. 4. During the ceremony, degrees will be conferred in the order listed in the program. At the proper time, the Dean of your College/School will request your group to stand. The President will then acknowledge the entire group. After the presidential acknowledgment, you may move the tassels from the right side to the left side of your cap. 5. Marshals will direct you to the front of the stage to receive your diploma from the President and Provost. Remember, a photographer will take your picture as you receive your diploma. Return to your seat as indicated by the marshals and be seated. You are expected to remain in your seats until the commencement exercises are completed. 6. At the end of the ceremony, join in singing the UD Anthem (words on the last page of your program). Remain standing as the stage party and the faculty recess. Marshals will lead you in the recessional. 7. Graduation ceremonies begin promptly at 9:45 am. You must be at the University of Dayton Arena by 9:00 am to give yourself adequate time to get into your assigned row. Ask a marshal for assistance if unforeseen circumstances result in you being late for your graduation. 1

2 8. A professional photographer will be taking pictures of all graduates. You will be contacted at a later date and given the opportunity to purchase a photograph of your graduation. 9. Graduation is a time for both joy and respect, but the event is formal and follows decorum. Please respect your fellow graduates and refrain from inappropriate celebration.
